Paul | 286 comments It's been a few years since I last read this so the memory might be a little vague.

From what I do remember (or think I remember), this was one of the best Re-Jack stories and investigation ever done. Moore went above and beyond in his research and speculations.

Add the mystical element, and I for one am not that great of believer in mysticism, but in this case, Moore makes it seem completely credible.

Some have critisized Cambell's artwork as being "bad". However, I would venture to say that his "Victorian" caricature-like etching style fits the story to a "T".

I also took great pleasure in reading Moore's footnotes on his research.

I don't think any amount of reasearch will ever manage to actually "prove" who Jack truly might have been... but this story gives a compelling presentation as to who he might and could have been.

Cyndi (bookchick64) I also enjoyed all of the elements of this work. Well researched, nice use of the elements and artwork that was essential to the tale.

Jonathan (jedidude77) | 2 comments I'm finding the references in the back as you read the main story is the best way to read this. I'm actually enjoying reading the references at the end more than the comic part. So far the style of writing here is very similar to other Alan Moore works.

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 163 comments Moore is famously controlling, so I am absolutely certain that the art looks the way HE wanted it to.

Adam | 130 comments I'm amazed there are so few comments here - this book was a revelation to me when I first read it. I love that it takes itself so seriously while at the same time being patently ridiculous. Also really like the fact the last chapter is an inbuilt deconstruction / debunking of Moore's method in writing the book. Plenty of food for thought in this one - definitely one of the Major works, where I'm concerned.
