Awesome book, even better than the first!!!! The third has the potential to be the best of the three!
I'm about 70% through the book. It's way better than the first...and I really hated the first book for some reason. I hope it get's even better...I'm thinking about giving it three stars atm (which is better than the one star I previously wanted to give it)
Yeah I agree completely. I liked but didn't love the first one but loved the second a d really see the potential for the third one :)
Okay, I just finished the book and it was amazing after you got through the first 30% of the book!! I loved it so much (that was really unexpected, but now I just can't wait for the next book to come out!! It seems like it has so much potential and hope :)...I just hope it lives up to my expectations (which are really high at the moment)
I'm actually part way through this book, it has quite a slow start but from what you all say I'll be patient, shall I?
I actually liked this book less the first one. I thought in the beginning there was a lot of sitting around and trying to figure out what was going on. Then once the action revved up Taylor kept switching perspectives just as the situation was about to get good (Probably to create tension). Instead of creating tension for the reader it made me bored when I had to read Karou's perspective rather then Akiva's (view spoiler)
Even with that being said though it was a good book and I'm really excited to see what happens in book 3.
I actually liked Karou's perspective better most of the time, including when Akiva was going to kill his father. I'm just weird like that :)
I really enjoyed the Karou parts of the story when Zuzana was there! I'm glad she played a role in this book as well, I had forgotten how much I liked her.

It's amazing, it definitely picks up towards the end.
I didn't find it neccesary to add in chapters from the POV of characters like Ziri.
That being said though I did like seeing both Karou and Akivas perspectives
And yes, Zuzana is amazing
Really loved this book, especially the last 25% of the book! The twists were amazing and can't wait for the next book!
This book started off darker/more serious than the last book. But I'm liking it so far! I don't think I realized in the first book that Brimstone's job caused him so much pain (literally).
I agree with all of you about Zuzana - I think she is my very favorite character. What a loyal friend! And I really loved how she fit right in everywhere and made friends of those around her! Plus, she is so funny!

And I understand why Karou was sad/depressed but she got on my last nerves. I was happy to get out of her head even with the confusing POV switches.
I felt like the plot was very predictable except (view spoiler)
I'm also looking forward to Book 3 and see ENDLESS possibilities. It just sucks we have to wait until April 2014 : (
loved this book a lot. i agree that it's better than the first one. hopefully Laini Taylor will blow me away with the third book in the series :)

Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a world free of bloodshed and war.
This is not that world.
Art student and monster's apprentice Karou finally has the answers she has always sought. She knows who she is—and what she is. But with this knowledge comes another truth she would give anything to undo: She loved the enemy and he betrayed her, and a world suffered for it.
In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Karou must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life.
While Karou and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope.
But can any hope be salvaged from the ashes of their broken dream?>
