I think it has to do with the author. I've read all of her books, and she isn't known for detailing sex scenes.
I wanted more everything from Travis' side, not just the physical act but a lot of what was in his mind, the desire, the need....
I'm not going to lie, the book from Abby's point of view was pretty descriptive but from Travis's POV it was toned down and ALMOST rushed through kind of like "yep, I'm here...alrighty then".

Remember, he's a total manwhore and sex is noting to him. I found the sex scenes to be more about his emotions and what he was feeling than about the sex because he's never experienced that type of emotional connections before. Whereas in BD the sex scenes were more descriptive because Abby was a virgin and she was experiencing a sexual relationship for the very first time.
I have only gotten to the second chapter (reading Hopeless and would prefer not to jumble my reading) and it is sad to see there are not an overwhelming multitude of positive reviews. From what I read, it looks like she uses too much profanity just because it is a "bad boy" and a guy.
Megan, are you on the right book discussion? This discussion is about Walking Disaster, not Hopeless.
Yeah I was just sharing my current reading. But I think this is a NA, not YA. TBH, I'd rather not have too much sex in the books. That's what erotica is for!
yes but in the first book there was some i was just expecting same scenes but from travis side right?but they just went trough without the fuss
I was kind of sad that the three-some was just glossed over.. even if she didn't want to get descriptive about it.. he just 'forgot' about it? really? no details no thoughts on it? I felt like she could have just written BD from alternative POV and it would have been just fine.. it seemed very rushed.
fabby wrote: "haha i had forgotten the threesome"how could you forget that?! hahah I wanted some dirty details!! ha

From what I r..."finish hopeless(i loved it), then move on to WD, you'll love it, it is not a let down i loved it and reading thing from Travis's POV is OMG... and the lasst part gives just enough info to keep you intrigued.
I liked both books. Choosing what book is better is hard for me because they were both great in their own way. I felt that the scenes that were important in the BD were down played in the WD because we already knew them. There were scenes that were different in WD that were not in BD. I enjoyed WD because you knew the story but you didn't feel like you were reading the same thing.
As someone who reads a lot of dirty smut I found both books had very short and few sex scenes. I was not expecting that to change so I didn't even notice if there was more or less in this one :P

He only mentions how she's a virgin. That's a BIG deal and she gave him that.. he should've been a bit more descriptive about what it's like to be with her. I was just disappointed with the book in general. The prologue alone, which 3 year old talks like that?
Chris wrote: "Not what I expected. Wanted way more. Sorry to say I found this boring."I agree, I ended up skimming just to get it done. I also think the sex scenes should have had a more content, afterall she was writing about a man-whore.
I wanted more as well. This is suppose to be New Adult book, but I've read better sex scene in Young Adult than this book. And it's not all about describing the scene but feeling the scence and how important it is for the character. Sex wasn't treated important in the book to me anyways.
I like the book. I thought it was simple and got right to the point. but i would enjoyed it more if the sex between Trav and Abby were better described. But i guess thats what the first book was for. still a fan and dont regret reading it.

Oh hell!! That was the one thing I was rooting for!! More in Sexland!! I mean, it's the GUY'S POV!!! What the hell?!!
Meryl wrote: "I cant agree more. I was so looking forward to his dirty thoughts and .......nothing"Yep that definitely was not a male POV, no way
i don't think that the sex detail was a big part of Travis' story. remember for him he was the one that basically had one night stands ALL the time and that didn't add to his story in this sense since we got a deeper look into who he is. i think that it was more important for Abby's story to have that detail since it showed that while she was so tough and experienced in some things, that the raunchiness and sexual heat that Trav had was a stark contrast.
So I got to the threesome as well a him and Abby's first time and it was lame. I also hate how many times he says "hot" or something like a girl's ass slapping on the floor is a turn on. I expected more from the "whore" Travis.
Chris wrote: "Not what I expected. Wanted way more. Sorry to say I found this boring."i agree, i was disappointed. i expected more from this book after all the hype. i really though that there would be so much more to reading travis' POV. i re-red BD the week before WD came out...what a mistake. i basically read the EXACT same book with a few extras.
if we are going to talk about the lack of sex scene details i had hoped for more from travis. i say this becuase as much as travis wanted abby and the feeling he had for her i though that it would have been more descriptive.
i am really disappointed in this book, all the hype was for nothing in my opinion. the author should take both books and combine them into one to save reads money...
I loved this book but I agree I thought there was going to be more discription from Travis. Especially that threesome. When there was hardly anything about it I was bummed.
I feel like the author just wrote this to get it out of the way, and make room for the brother's stories. She didn't really talk a ton about the brothers or their backgrounds, and I feel like she turned WD into a stepping stone for their series. I didn't really LOVE WD like I thought I would.
well im sure she knows that there was disappointment in this book and will try to have a better story ,but i know that because this book was a blunder she lost some readers

I would love that but I wonder if she did would it be around the time of the Epiloge or College?? hmmmmm

fabby wrote: "yes but in the first book there was some i was just expecting same scenes but from travis side right?but they just went trough without the fuss"Agree! I dunno IMO I think Travis is an intense act, and I expected more from him from his side of the story, but honestly? WD seems like a repeat of BD only from Travis' pov :(
WD was a way for the author to make a bit more money of the BD bandwagon. I think Jamie is a great author, but WD was a slap in the face if you really want to be honest. I am still trying to get over it lol
i think it's impossible for a woman to write about a man's point of view. simply impossible. this is exactly why we loved Abby's side more than Travis' side. I dont believe that Jamie just wanted to take advantage of the first book's success. i genuinely think that she just couldnt write as a guy. it doesnt mean i didnt enjoy the book. i love it. but i loved Beautiful Disaster more! i could do without the epilogue though...to be honest. and yeah...the sex scenes should have been described in more details.
I was surprised that this book is put in Erotic section. The sex scenes were nothing compared to the other books that are categorized as such. I really liked Walking Disaster, even more than Beautiful Disaster; however, I don't feel that either of them should be considered Erotica.

When he had mentioned about wanting to turn her over but decided not to cus of it being her first time made me giddy than nothing more after that...I agree may be since she wasn as experienced she had more details but since "love" was new to Travis there shoulda been more emotion!

Males and females have totally different ideas and mind sets. Males just don't swear all the time and think about sex. There minds are made differently. Also you don't Ned descriptive sex scene to show that they love each other and yeah, it's kind impossible for a female to write descriptive sex scenes in a mans point of view.
