Historical thrillers are suspensful stories set in the past that feature intelligent protagonists (typically male, but not always) who find themselves in perilous situations. They use their resources, intellectual and emotional as well as physical, to extricate themselves from danger. Often the dilemmas in which protagonists find themselves have poliltical ramifications. Nora (norawb) | 23 comments So would the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold count? They are more scifi than historical.

Heather (heathernovotny) Nora! I LOVE Bujold! If I had to categorize the Vorkosigan books, I'd put them in sf/f, in the subgenre "space opera".

I just finished the future Reader's Choice title, "The Truth of All Things" by Kieran Shields. Loved the way it tied a Victorian thriller with the Salem Witch trials and also the history of the Abenakis.
