(Music has fandoms too!!)
Some of the music that just makes you skin crawl?
(Be kind please)

message 2: by Ciara (new)

Ciara | 144 comments Justin Bieber. His attitude lately has been terrible, too.

message 3: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (anonymouswizard) Taylor Swift. I could post a 20 page rant about why, but I'm not going to... For now

Amity☺Currently-Awesome☺ | 238 comments 1D Pah- lease!!!!!!! Gve me a break, they aren't even cool let alone singers!

message 5: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (anonymouswizard) Eminem. Talking fast with half your words bleeped out doesn't count as music

Amity☺Currently-Awesome☺ | 238 comments :) good one, i like some of the music though. Scratch that i like a teensy bit of their music

message 7: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (anonymouswizard) Eh. It only works if you're in the right mood for it. The only "rap" I like is by Ginger Jesus :)

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

1. One Direction. I could easily exceed the character limit with a rant on why I hate them. For one, the fans. If I meet one more person who is convinced that they will marry Harry Styles, I will explode. And another thing...Harry Styles has ruined Harry; the name Harry is the name of my cousin AND the Boy Who Lived. And everyone goes all crazy around me because they like Niall and my grandfather is Irish.
2. Rap. Any music with any swearing in them is not on my good list. Don't even mention Nikki Minaj, Eminem, LMFAO or Macklemore to me.
3. Justin Bieber. His songs are horrible and, as Ciara said, his attitude is really bad nowadays. Even his fangirls are a bit uneasy because of how he's acting.
4. Taylor Swift. She can only write three types of songs; songs about boys she wants, songs about boys she's with and songs about boys she hates. Okay...I suppose 'Mean' isn't that bad, but...

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Shahdia, totally with you on ALL of that.

Amity☺Currently-Awesome☺ | 238 comments totally with u too except 4. :( WAAAAAA. I ♥ her. I know it is anoying that she only does those kind of songs but that is what she does. It said that in her book. She wouldn't have it any other way. i think. especially 1D. Gimme a break!

message 12: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (anonymouswizard) I agree except One Direction. I like their music, they're not bad looking, but the fans are a BIT (a lot) crazy.

message 13: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (anonymouswizard) Bruno Mars! 1/2 hid songs are so annoying (Locked Out Of Heaven, Grenade) and the other 1/2 are beautiful (When I was Your Man, Marry You)!! Make up your mind sir!!!!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

To be honest, I don't know half of the musicians that you all are talking about. I guess I'm just kind of out of that scene. For as long as I can remember I've been listening to...odd music that other people hate. ;)

message 15: by Ciara (new)

Ciara | 144 comments I quite like Bruno Mars! I tend to listen to his more meaningful songs; I think they sound wonderful.

JLS. They are ridiculously bad. They became famous partly on the basis they lift up their t-shirts at the end of every song.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

What are JLS?

message 17: by Alix (new)

Alix Fish | 24 comments Maggie wrote: "Taylor Swift. I could post a 20 page rant about why, but I'm not going to... For now"

Tell me about it. There are some girls in my music class who are always saying how annoying she is but then quote her songs and sing them word for word!

message 18: by Alix (new)

Alix Fish | 24 comments Calamity~Bibliophism~ wrote: "What are JLS?"

JLS are a ridiculous boy band who were in the X Factor. They sing whiney love songs basically!

Who do you like?

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Gotcha. I've never heard of the X Factor...Is it a TV show?

Bjork...Daughter....A thousand other people but I won't go into it. :)

I agree with you. I LOVE Taylor Swift! She just seems like such a good person.

message 22: by Ciara (new)

Ciara | 144 comments The X Facror is a talent contest-show for singers. It began in the UK but is now in the U.S too.

message 23: by Mayomouse (new)

Mayomouse (mayomouse) | 612 comments Justin beiber: hate him. I'm sure no one objects to that statement, and like me, we're confused about this dudes gender when they first heard the song Baby.
Adele: great songs woman but really? How depressed can you get?
Taylor swift: you're great too but why do you run after EVERY single hottie Hollywood introduces?

Amity☺Currently-Awesome☺ | 238 comments Mayomouse wrote: "Justin beiber: hate him. I'm sure no one objects to that statement, and like me, we're confused about this dudes gender when they first heard the song Baby.

totally with u on the Justin Beiber part, when i heard that song at first i asked my sister if it was a girl or a boy!!! :)

message 25: by Mayomouse (new)

Mayomouse (mayomouse) | 612 comments Haha. Hey, that's what I meant! Your not the first who's told me that!

message 26: by Victoria (last edited Apr 14, 2013 07:55PM) (new)

Victoria Scofield (vicki_s) | 8 comments Rap. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with it every now and then because of my age group. I don't mind so much when my brother-in-law occasionally puts it on in the car, but that's because he doesn't listen to the songs with swearing and I'm too busy chatting with him to pay attention.

I also don't like Justin Beiber. And, yes, he does look like a girl. Or like he never hit puberty.

I like Taylor Swift's songs, but she needs to write songs about something other than boys every so often. There are other things in life.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Rap is....ewgh.

I agree!

message 31: by Arwen (new)

Arwen One Direction, Reece Mastin, Justin Bieber, can't think of more right now. But wow I REALLY hate 1D

message 32: by Leah (new)

Leah (lepolk) | 32 comments I don't like rap...at all.

message 33: by Ethan (new)

Ethan (platypopper) alrighty, now I've made it very clear that pretty much everything that's on the top 100 charts I don't like, but rap is something that people either don't get or just don't appreciate. Now I realize that most of it is very offensive, but think about it this way: The flow of their words and the way that they deliver them is near poetic in some cases. Think about George Watsky, or even yes, Eminem. They both are very good lyricists, if you think about how they rhyme and how well their words flow together. I don't know if it's just me who thinks this, but I figured that someone should say it just so that it was out there. You don't have to like it to appreciate it.

Whooooo... rant over.

message 34: by Leyah (last edited Jul 14, 2013 08:07AM) (new)

Leyah (serferrant) | 2098 comments Rap, modern pop. I like most songs, but argh, what are they doing with music nowadays? *turns on the Beatles*

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

I know, right? Most modern music is just...It's just awful. It depresses me.
I like all alternative, "indie" music and dislike all modern pop and rap. It's not me trying to be a "hipster" or whatever, I just don't like it.

It's an absolute nightmare. No soul

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

I hate music with no meaning, like rap. I think the lyrics should have a meaning, not just be meaningless trash.

message 38: by Leyah (new)

Leyah (serferrant) | 2098 comments Yeah. Most of these popular songs are about one-night stands, partying and drinking *shudders*

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Agreed.
Yes, indie rock is the best! And indie lyrical.

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep. I''ve always been the kid who listens to things nobody has heard of.

message 41: by Oliver (new)

Oliver (oliverthereader) | 164 comments Shahdia wrote: "Yep. I''ve always been the kid who listens to things nobody has heard of."

I know what you mean! I grew up listening to strictly classical music, although now I listen to a lot of indie/folk/alternative music along with classical. When I went to first grade, I tried to tell other students about classical music and they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. Everyone was obsessed with this so called "pop" music and I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about.

I can't stand any modern pop music, rap, and the like. The lyrics mean nothing and nearly all of those songs have the same beat. On that note, a huge percentage of modern songs use the same chords, so you could basically play the chords and sing the melodies of countless songs. For those reasons I like to keep my knowledge of pop and rap to a minimum.

I'll stop this rant for now... If I could talk to any one of you in person I could go on for hours.

By the way, while I'm still here, there is scientific proof that listening to Mozart is good for you and can even raise your IQ by a few points! :)

message 42: by Mayomouse (new)

Mayomouse (mayomouse) | 612 comments @ ScienceReader, that's actually pretty cool that you're into classical and all even with "these children now'a days." :D Tho I'm sorry about the failure in explaining the amazing of the songs you listen to, to your previously fellow first graders.

message 43: by Arwen (new)

Arwen One Direction and Justin Bieber. I can't listen to them. I just can't.

message 44: by Mayomouse (new)

Mayomouse (mayomouse) | 612 comments I've already posted but I'll say it again. Justin beiber, Adele, Taylor swift(just a little). And tho i forgot to say before, I completely HATE Nikki minaj.

message 45: by Mayomouse (new)

Mayomouse (mayomouse) | 612 comments @ arwen, just wondering but since you're on at the same time as me, what time is it where you are?

message 46: by Arwen (new)

Arwen 8:27pm why?

message 47: by Shabnam (new)

Shabnam Sheikhha (shablandelina) I really like Taylor.I know most of her songs(well,98% of her songs :D) are about her exes. But she has really good lyrics and her music videos are really nice. And some of her songs aren't about boys like Mean,Never Grow Up,Ronan & other songs :)

I HATE Justin Bieber. He's really annoying. The only song I like by him is the acoustic version of "As Long As You love Me".I really like tht song. But the rest of his songs are crap. And let's just not talk about his attitude...
I DESPISE Pitbull. It's not wise to call the stuff he sings(Yeah, like that's singing) "music".
And I really hate modern rap.It just doesn't mean ANYTHING!

That's just for now :D

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Robin Thicke. A million times no. I find it disgusting, immoral, blatantly sexist, encouraging rape culture, and overall completely ABHORRENT.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Right? I LOVE YOU RIGHT NOW.
No one listens to me when I say that it is encouraging rape! I tell the boys in my class to stop singing it, but they say "it's just a song". My teachers got angry at me for saying the word rape to them when they were singing blurred lines very loudly. That song is incredibly disgusting. It makes me...just ugh. We need feminism so bad here.

And the fact that Thicke considered it to be a JOKE I find extremely irritating. This is not funny. Not in any way, shape, or form. Put rape culture to a good beat and suddenly, it isn't a problem anymore. I hate when people say that it is "just a song" because it's not. When you see a documentary about a rape victim, is that just a movie? When you see a book about rape, is that just a book? No! Rape becomes a big deal as soon as it is "popular" to care about it! You could make murder popular and suddenly everyone would be doing it even though it's freaking WRONG. The song IS A BIG DEAL. Also, when people argue that in the video (which I did watch through guarded eyes) that, and I quote, "The girls are completely in control of the situation and are okay." NO THEY'RE BLOODY WELL NOT. They look like they want out and they hate being there and probably after filming kicked Thicke in the balls. And you know what's also very annoying? When they use "feminist" as an insult! I'M A FREAKING GIRL! OF COURSE I'M A BLOODY FEMININST! I, unlike some, have respect for myself and my gender!
NO MEANS NO
YES MEANS YES
WE LEARNED THIS IN PRESCHOOL
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH RAGE

I could rant for hours on this topic alone, but I'm going to stop now before I explode. I apologize for caps locking and letting it out here.
