This is the place for new members to introduce themselves.

This is some information about me. My name is Ester, I live in a small country called Slovakia in Europe and I'm 17 years old. I have been playing tennis for 13 years. I have always loved reading books. I think the book that started my love for reading was Mystery of the Moaning Cave in the Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators series. I like contemporary romance, thrillers, mysteries and I am trying to branch out and read also different genres. And something interesting about me: I was an exchange student in the US last year and I am planning to study medicine in the USA.

I am looking forward to getting to know you guys :)

Sabah Hussein (Moustachio) | 5 comments Hello!
My name is Sabah, and Im from the UK. Im a massive bookworm, always Have been. My love for reading started from when I was a toddler, sitting on my bed at night simply flicking through picture books. I like Sci-fi, thrillers, crime, mystery, paranormal and fantasy. Currently, I'm reading more of a racial dystopian novel, namely 'Double cross' by Malorie Blackman. Its the fourth time i've read it, and I always thoroughly enjoy it, along with the other three books in the series. I'm not really a romance reader as I don't feel comfortable with the topic, but a majority of the books i have come across have an element or two of it. Im hoping to study Pediatrics or forensic science in the future. I'm looking forward to meeting others! :)

Cathy | 6 comments Hello All,
My name is Cathy Adams and I live in Xinzheng, Henan, China. I'm a big fan of southern writing and love the work of Flannery O'Connor and authors like her. There are no books available here in book stores in English, so I rely heavily on a local small library made up of books that foreign faculty have consolidated for group use. That means my choices are limited. At the moment I'm reading Game of Thrones, not my usual style or subject matter, but I've found it's entertaining. Thanks for reading.

Louisa Dang (louisadang) | 3 comments Hi, I'm Louisa and I live in North Carolina. I have 2 small children, so it's hard to find time to read - ebooks are a lifesaver! I like all kinds of books, especially mysteries and stories with unique characters... I don't have any favorite authors at the moment - interested in finding some new good reads!

message 30: by Kristi (new)

Kristi Hi, I'm Kristi and live in Estonia's (a small country by the Baltic Sea, between Russia and Finland) capital. Since I learnt how to read, I have spent most of my time with books (hiding under the covers with a flashlight from my mother at nights, taking a peek at Anna Karenina under the table during my math classes, leaving out clothes and 'essentials' to fit a couple more books into my suitcase when travelling) and now I work for a book distributor as a marketing manager. I agree with Louisa that an e-reader is a lifesaver as I am mostly drawn by long series (Game of Thrones, Robin Hobb trilogies, Ursula le Guin and other 'classic' sci-fi authors) I can have the whole series with me all times.
Currently, I enjoy the works of Margaret Atwood.

Hello, I am a big fan of Margaret Atwood and my husband lived in Tartu, Estonia for two years. We live in China now, but he wants to return to Estonia for good if we could find jobs there. We are both reading Game of Thrones right now. He's somewhere past page 3000 and I'm about 500 pages behind. We can hardly put it down.

message 32: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Ogg | 1 comments Hi! My name is Debby and am new to Goodreads. I love to read all types of books. The first book I can remember reading was in 3rd grade and it was a biography about Jane Addams. Right after I read one about Nathan Hale. From then on I was hooked on reading and as you probably guessed I love anything historical. I have 3 children and 7 grandchildren so I'm probably a little older then most of you. My husband and I live in Indiana. And every Christmas we have a family contest "Guess how many books grandma read this year". The winner gets a gift certificate to a book store. And, all of our grandchildren get at least one book for Christmas from us. In the summer my grandkids and I have a reading group where we all read the same book and then discuss it. It has been fun!

message 33: by Rebecca (new)

message 34: by Wes (new)

Wes (wesmoore1) | 1 comments Hello everyone. My name is Wes Moore. I am a natural born citizen of California, USA. After reading some of the introductions in this section, I am impressed by the international membership of this group. Greetings one and all!

I have been slow to start with goodreads. I am a new author and I've mainly been involved in figuring out the technical aspects of getting established on this site. I guess the easiest path to introducing myself would be to point you to my author page on goodreads and my personal website at http://www.wesmooreadventurenovels.com/

My new book is called "Poison Gold", an action/adventure tale that takes place in the California Mojave Desert. Details can be found on my website.

(FYI: The Kindle edition of "Poison Gold" will be available for FREE DOWNLOAD June 7, 8, and 9.)

I became interested in reading at an early age in a rather strange way. My family traveled a lot in the western states and my older brothers would read the road signs and billboards that were everywhere along the roadsides. Those signs seemed to me to be the secrets of the universe. If I could read those, I could make my way around anywhere. So, you can imagine my excitement when I started school and learned to read.

It is a pleasure to now be part of the worldwide reading community.

Wes
