Good morning! First of all, I’d like to introduce myself. I am an author who has self-published three contemporary romantic suspense novels and am currently working on my fourth. Recently, I’ve acquired a literary agent and my writing hobby has turned into a full-fledged career. I couldn’t be happier about that! Since then, my latest and most popular novel, TRUTH AND HUMILITY, has undergone a few changes. I felt those of you who’ve read it or have it on your to-read shelf may have some questions for me, so please don’t hesitate to fire away. And feel free to ask questions beyond the realm of T&H, as I would be happy to answer them as well!

Just what I like to hear, Jennifer! I'm glad you enjoyed T&H so much. My other books are FLESH OF ANGELS and FLESH OF THE FATHER. You can find them on Amazon, B&N and Smashwords. I am also extremely excited about my fourth book, it will take T&H fans to the limit! Thank you for everything, Jennifer :)

Lawrence BoarerPitchford | 3 comments Oh- I forgot to ask a question. How did you go about finding an agent as a self published author? Did you just cold call with query letters, or did your network of fellow authors help in any way?

Regards,

First of all, thank you for the well wishes, Lawrence! I certainly hope you find success in your writing endeavors :) I only queried a little bit since hearing all the horror stories. Self publishing seemed like the only way to get your book seen by the public. That is what I focused on. Luckily, whether it be from my marketing efforts or by chance, my latest novel was noticed by the reading community. Sales skyrocketed and my ratings climbed the charts on Amazon. My agent noticed the success of my book, researched it, liked what she saw and contacted me through Facebook. Querying had nothing to do with it, but it took a lot of work on my part regardless. I hope this helps :)

Emily Hemmer (emilyhemmer) | 1 comments Hi JA, I'm currently reading Flesh of Angels and I love the character of Dodge. Are we going to be seeing him again in any of your future endeavors? Awesome book by the way. I'm totally hooked!

Yelle Hughes (goodreadscomyellehughes) | 2 comments Good afternoon, J.A. First, thank you for inviting me to your Q&A. My first question, when you wrote your first novel, how long did it take to complete then publish and second, since you were self-published...did you still feel pressure to finish quickly to get it published?

Thanks, Emily! I'm glad you're enjoying FOA. That is the first novel in a series of 3. You'll get to re-visit Dodge and Holly in FLESH OF THE FATHER, which was published shortly after, and then FLESH OF INNOCENTS upon it's release. BTW, Dodge is my all-time favorite, too :)

Hello, Yelle, it took me a year to write FLESH OF ANGELS. Since it was my first novel, I had to put it down for a while and re-structure before completing it. By the time I self-published nine years later, all three of my novels were already completed. I was never under any real pressure or deadline, which is always helpful. However! I keep getting asked by fans when the third FLESH book will be released. Since that has been tabled for the moment while I write the T&H companion novel, it is pressure of a different variety. But it just means they love the series and I don't mind it one bit! Thanks for the question, Yelle, and don't hesitate to stop in again if you have another :)

Thank you so much! That answered my question, quite nicely. If I have anymore, I will be sure to drop by again. Enjoy your day!

Arlena (goodreadscomarlenadean) | 2 comments Good Afternoon J.A.
Everytime I thought I had a question I found it already had been answered from the reading above.
So, I will only say that I enjoyed "Truth and Humility" and looking forward to your next book. Oh, here is one. Please name all of your novels and is there another novel on the horizon that you are working on?

Hi, Arlena, I'm glad you persisted! Even if your questions have already been answered, it's always nice hearing from you :) Besides TRUTH AND HUMILITY, I have written two other novels in a different series. They are FLESH OF ANGELS and FLESH OF THE FATHER. The third in the FLESH series, FLESH OF INNOCENTS, is a WIP that has been postponed while I work on the T&H companion novel. I am happy to say, I'm past the research process of BETWEEN FAITH AND FEAR and am actively hammering it out on a daily basis. Soon, T&H fans will be able to re-visit the characters they fell in love with while being taken on another spectacular ride :) Thanks for the question, Arlena, and come back if you think of anything else!

Arlena (goodreadscomarlenadean) | 2 comments Thanks so my J.A. I will be picking up Flesh Of Angles and Flesh of the Father soon and adding them to my long list of reads (smile). Again, I loved reading your novel Truth and Humility and I am sure these two will be good also. Take care and keep on with the good writing that you do so well!

S wrote: "What inspired you to take your writing career to the next level?"

Hello, S! As soon as I started my first novel, I knew writing was going to be my passion. I wanted to give it my full attention, but my art career was in the way. I just needed the right excuse to switch careers :) Thanks for the question!
