The Merchant and the Menace discussion

This series has turned up on lists of "kick-ass heroines" and "strong females," but neither the reviews nor the synopsis makes mention of a female character. Since I am always interested in reading a good book that gives its heroine fun and interesting things to do, I'd be up for reading this one -- but the fact that she isn't mentioned makes me wonder. Who is she?
