Matthew | 34 comments The mood in my book The Lost Hero is overwhelmed. One example of overwhelmed is when the characters in my book got assigned a quest. The characters in my book are overwhelmed because they have never been on a quest before until now. Plus if the don't finish it they will die. This shows that the characters in my book are overwhelmed because if they don't finish it they will die. Another example of overwhelmed is when they have to learn how to fight monsters. In the book they don't know how to fight or fight monsters. They have to learn so they can know on the quest or they will be killed by the monsters. This shows that the characters are overwhelmed by having to learn to fight monsters or they will fail the quest.

Monica | 43 comments A symbol that was created in my independent reading book, Wings Of The Wicked, by Courtney Allison Moulton is an angel wing, half black half white. For example, there were always reapers that were either demonic or angelic. Angelic reapers are the reapers that have white wings and demonic reapers are the ones that have black. My protagonist has friends that are demonic and angelic and she is stuck between both of them. This shows that it is best to combine both the angelic and demonic reapers' powers together to form a wing that is both black and white. In addition, without this combination, there would never be peace between the real enemies and good guys. Another example that shows this is that one of the angelic reapers in the book that is also my protagonist's guardian, Will is related to Cadan, a demonic reaper. Ellie, the protagonist, was shocked since they were so different because of what they appear to be. But the truth is that, they are the same underneath, and that is what makes them unique and alike. This shows that it doesn't mean what the appearance of the character is like, what matters is that they both love the same person and would do anything to protect her. The angel wing of both evil and good proves that and the world of angels should realize that too.

Kimora Irby | 25 comments In my book "I AM J" By Cris Beam. One example that represents a symbol to my character is taking photos, j feels like when he takes photos he can express the way he feels about his emotion's. For example if he was angry or sullen about something that happen to him he would find an object that related to how he feels at that moment and take a picture. Another example is "J" dressed and acts boyish she would imitate the way boys would act, dress, and speak. She desperately wanted to be a boy. This shows that J is very confused about which gender she is.

Mark | 33 comments In my book The Necromancer by Michael Scott one symbol that I would use to represent Nicholas Flamel one of the main characters is a heart. I said a hear because a heart is a symbol of caring and Nicholas is a very caring person. He is a very caring person because he did everything he could to protect the twins Josh and Sophie Newman because he cares about them. Also when his wife was trapped in the Alcatraz he did everything he could to get her out of there because he cares for her. Lastly Nicholas cares for humanity because he has been trying to protect it for his entire life and he has done his best at it.

Ivan (ivanski711) | 30 comments In the book "the Demond King" by Cinda w chima a symbol that I have discovered was these two braclets that have been raped around his wrist for as long as he can remember, these braclets are oveisly magikal items. For example he can not take them of his wrist no matter what he does. This shows that it is phisicaly impossible to take them of,so with the being in a world full of magik the the must have been magikaly forced on his wrist. Another example is that a rich kid that lives near him has similar one to the ones he has, and he got his from a wizard that controld that town that they lived in. This shows that his braclet could have been from the same hoard of magikal iteams if not the have the same magikal influnce as the rich kid braclet.

Elva C. | 40 comments A symbol that is created in my independent reading book, Fade Out by Nova Ren Suma is a film reel. For example, in the book, the book has a lot of references to old black and white movies such as Rita Hayworth. The character in my book Dani, always make a connection with the black and white movies. This shows that a symbol that represents my book would be a film reel because it makes a lot of references about old films in the book. Another example is, in the book, the main character Dani, is always imagining that she was in a movie. When she is in a situation, she would always refer to the films she watched, and connect to them, and pretend that she is inside the movie to escape from her problems. This shows that Dani's imagination is like a movie that is being filmed. By connecting to the films, Dani is trying to escape from her problems. Dani is always referring to old movies, and that is why the symbol for my independent reading book is a film reel.

Jack Brill | 41 comments A symbol in my book "Always Running" by Luis J. Rodriguez is gang signs. For example the main character lives in a bad neighborhood in Los Angeles and has been in and out of trouble with the law involving gang activity. This shows that throwing up gang signs can show you what kind of a person people are. Another example of the symbol "gang signs" is the main character thought he saw a member of his gang and flashed a gang symbol to them and it turned out they were in a rival gang. This shows that gang signs are or can be used for the wrong reasons and can one day get you hurt or in to trouble with people.

Essam Alhumoz | 20 comments A symbol in my book "Marked" by K.C. Cast is the sign used to represent fledglings. For example there is a carriage symbol that is used to represent the first quarter fledglings. This symbol represents that the carriage is supposed to be carrying you throughout your first year at The House of Nights. Another symbol that is also shown in the book are the wings that are used to the final quarter fledglings. That symbol is supposed to represent independence and finally being able to fly on your own, and achieve greater things.

Justin Yu | 20 comments In my realistic fiction book The Hum and the Shiver by Alex Bledsoe, a symbol that is created in this book is death. One example is a bird called a Tufa, which mysteriously seen "during the day,an omen of death." This shows that even the birds in this book can show how this book has lots of death. Another example that death is a symbol of my book says clearly on the blurb, "with death stalking her family." This shows that there is a lot of death related stories in this book.

One symbol that was created in my independent reading book "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green is cancer. The symbol cancer is a negative symbol which affects my main character in a bad way. For example, my character wanted to fly over to Amsterdam and meet an author, but she can't as of now because she has lung cancer and must have someone familiar with the cancer case to go with her for protection. This shows that the cancer is a negative symbol describing the main character because it is stopping her from doing the things she would have done if she didn't have cancer. Another example is when my main character was forced by his parents to join the support group program because she was depressed and had lung cancer. This shows the symbol cancer was bad in my book because it made my character do something she didn't want to do and she couldn't enjoy being a regular teen out with friends.

Steven Lin | 27 comments A symbol in my book "The Throne of Fire" is a task list. The symbol a task list shows is that the main character in my book has to do a lot of work to achieve what they want. For example Carter has to find all of the pieces of the book of Ra. This shows that Carter had to get all of the pieces of the book of Ra as his task in order to save his dad and the world. Another example is that Sadie and Cater also have to find where Ra is. This show that they have a lot to do and right after the find the pieces of the book they also have to find Ra.

Matthew | 34 comments A symbol in my book The Lost Hero is a Knight is bravery. A knight means bravery and that is what i think my characters are brave. One example is that my characters have to go on a quest for the first time. They don't know how to do the quest but take it to save the world. This shows that my characters are like a knight because they wanted to save the world no matter the cost. Another example is when my characters had to fight some monsters. My characters didn't run away from them they stayed and fought. This shows that my characters are brave and are like a knight because they stayed and fought the monsters.

Seige | 17 comments The mood in my book Unwind By Neal Shuterman is ''Motivated''. One example is when Risa notices that lev is unwounded from his rich parents. This shows that Risa cares about lev and his life and parents, not only that but changing the law. Risa is trying to stop the abortion law because of budget cuts and families being torn apart. Another example is when Conner , Risa and a baby attempt to hide because they wanted to go to school. This shows that Risa and Conner care about the future and acually want to learn.

Michael Vu | 24 comments the symbol in my book "Divergent" is a PIE chart it shows how all the clans in one ecosystiem.one example is that when kids are start going to high school they will have to take a test. that test shows who they are and what clan they will follow. this shows that the clans mentaly are so far away with rules and actions like things in a pie chart yet they live in the same city like the diffent things in that one same chart.
aother example is when the main protagiont gets pushed down on to the floor noone stops to help her up becuase of her clan has bad rep.this shows how they can be so oppie of the others like in pie charts one part can be about murder rate and the other about posioned food. they are two very diffent things but sill are compaired.

Kailey | 23 comments In my story "I'm not your baby, Baby" the symbol would be a heart. For example the protagonist Jess loves her son she had with her ex husband. This shows how Jess loves someone important to her. Another example is that Jess is falling in love with her ex husbands band mate knowing that band mate has always loved her but she was too oblivious to notice. This proves the symbol for my story would be a heart.
