Has anyone out there been driven to start reading the books they discussed. So far I have read Lizard Cage, People of the Book and On Chesil Beach.They were all great reads but Lizard Cage was exceptional. Interestingly they all have a theme of the power of words.

Just finished this book the other day. It was really wonderful. Felt as though the reader really got to know Mary Ann Schwalbe through her son's eyes. What a delightful, dignified, caring person.The story was not at all maudlin. I did feel sorrow at her passing. Also there were some amazing book recommendations.

Just finished it last week and loved it! I fell in love with the relationship between the mom and son so much! Couldn't put it down.

Head Will Schwalbe interviewed this morning and was fascinated by the book all over again. Some of the books were very challenging and sounded a bit "high-brow" But I did add them to my "to-read" list for some day!

I also loved this book. I thought despite the fact the books and family are clearly very intellectual, the story was told simply and movingly. I highlighted quite a few titles on my Kindle!

I just finished the Josephine Tey, "Bratt Farrar" and thought it was extraordinary. Definitely a must read.

Finished it recently. I have not read any new one mentioned yet; I had read a few already. I have added many titles to my «Want to read» list.

I really loved reading this son-mother-books relationship story. I appreciated how she was imperfectly perfect and engaged! She helped me make peace with myself and he gives me hope towards my relationship with my still young reader son.Very touching read!

This book brought me back from the dead. Literally. I had been diagnosed with 18% lung function and told I would be dead in a few days. I didn't die in a few days, but I figured it was coming any minute. I looked for a book about dying. They all sounded like I would need to hire someone to play the violin while I read. This one looked perfect. Some of it is about dying, but most of it is about living while your are alive. It got me off the couch and into Pulmonary Rehab, years later I am in better shape now than I was before I was diagnosed. I wrote a book. In it, I wrote "The dogs don't know they have Will Schwalbe to thank for the dog park." I take in abandoned senior Shepherds. We go to the dog park and they age backwards. His "Book for Living" is also an incredible book. Through that one, I found out relaxing is a profound thing. I used to think relaxing meant that I sat there in a low-grade panic over all the things I wasn't getting done.
