SN the Viking (savannahnorway) Sookie Stackhouse. :-)

message 5: by Megan (new)

Megan | 21 comments Ahhh I can't pick just one! I have several series on my favorites shelf. Different genres, and I like them for different reasons. If I have to pick just one, I am going to go with A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones on HBO) by George RR Martin.

Love Harry Potter and Mercy Thompson as well, and both happen to be on my favorites shelf. :)

I adored Sookie Stackhouse for about the first seven books (in fact, I credit this series for initiating me into the Urban Fantasy genre), and then it started to go downhill for me. :(

message 6: by Noreen (new)

Noreen Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward.

message 7: by Adria (new)

Adria | 48 comments The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.

message 8: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 64 comments I really need to read the rest of the Mercy Thompson series. Read book one a while ago, and just never picked it back up.
Sookie Stackhouse was really good, for a while.
Kate Daniels would probably be my favorite urban fantasy series though, although I do love Nicole Peeler's Jane True series immensely.

message 23: by Marilyn (new)

Marilyn (phel0049) | 4 comments Karen Marie Moning, Fever Series - nothing else I've read in the genre is even in the same orbit.

message 24: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) I haven't read that many UF series yet but my absolute favorite right now is Kate Daniels. I'm also enjoying Mercy Thompson and Chicagoland Vampires.

I finished the Fever series but I cannot say that it is a favorite - Mac ruined it for me. My hand is still itching to slap her for her vacuous silliness.

message 25: by Chelsea (last edited May 09, 2013 12:15PM) (new)

Chelsea | 2 comments I can't just chose one, I can narrow it down to a few though.
The other world series by Kelley Armstrong has to be one of the best series I have ever read. I have read each book multiple times and it's a series I will always love.

Fablehaven is another series I absolutely adore. It's not Urban fantasy but it defiantly deserves a mention.

Kate Daniels series I just love, love, love this series and I nearly forgot to give it a mention! It's a great series and I just love Kate and Curran :)

Finally I'll give Vampire Academy series a mention, just finishing off the last book in the series!! I have just enjoyed reading each book and haven't had much time to put them down. Here's hoping the final book doesn't disappoint!!! :)

message 26: by Ds862 (new)

Ds862 | 1 comments Of any book series, Harry potter. Adored it, would attend Howarts if I could (though I'd be a Ravenclaw all the way ;) ). Of all the urban fantasy books I've read, Mercy Thompson/Alpha Omega world books. Patricia Briggs is amazing. Actually, does Harry Potter count as urban fantasy?

message 32: by Kat (new)

Kat Klein | 151 comments I can't do it. I thought I could with Fever, but... As much as I love the Fever series, I'd have to say my favorite is whatever series has the next book coming out that I'm waiting desperately for. I just can't narrow it more than that

message 33: by Laura (new)

Laura Cantu (lauraccantu) | 3 comments Harry Potter! I can read the Harry Potter series over and over. Not only did I fall in love with a majority of the characters, I became obsessed with Hogwarts. Each time I read the books, I discover something new and insightful. Harry Potter Rocks!

bookcrazedchick | 25 comments Can anyone suggest a really good, fun read?

I've lost interest in all the books I have sitting at home and I need to change it up a little bit. Do you have a favorite 5 star book or series that you would recommend?

Discount Armageddon (InCryptid, #1) by Seanan McGuire and First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones are fun reads, and I second Mark's recommendation of My Life as a White Trash Zombie (White Trash Zombie, #1) by Diana Rowland . Don't let the cover scare you off. :P

message 46: by John (new)

John Woodward (jrwoodward) | 16 comments My all-time favorite (exceeding even Harry Potter) is The Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony, including the original five books dealing with Death, Time, Fate War and Nature, and the later three: Evil, God and Night. C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams invented the genre back in the 30s, but Anthony re-started it in 80s.

Of course, I'm also partial to my own:

Terra Luna: The Return of the Fiorgaels

message 47: by Adria (new)

The Shadows of the Apt series by Adrian Tchaikovsky
A Song of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin
