Discuss Season One of Downton Abbey.

I keep trying to watch the first episode of this season!! It just doesn't hook me...And I really want it to. So I keep trying, and I plan to continue to because I know if I can make it past the first one that I'll love it. :D

Yes. :) The first one's not all that interesting, and you don't know the characters yet, so you can't really get hooked until a few episodes in. THEN you get to know the characters really well, and you cry when they cry (or when they die.....) and it's just awesome.

I know!! D; I just have to make it there. And I will! Just you wait! You can add another fandom to my LOOOONG list soooooon! :D

Haha, okay! You take your time. ;) You have plenty of other fandoms to keep you occupied.

Sinda Quietus (superwholockedtrekacrossthestars) | 2846 comments I haven't seen this show, but for some reason, I always thought it was Downtown Abbey, not Downton Abbey. Whoops. I kept misreading it.

Haha, yeah, that's what I thought at first. :)

Holly (goldikova) This show is just wonderful. I thought that the first episode did a good job of setting everything up. Of course, a subsequent episode certainly did answer the question that had been bothering me for years: What would a proper young noblewoman do if a Turkish diplomat were to suddenly die in her bed?

Jazzy (stairstepjitters) | 155 comments When I was watching the first episode of the season, just dipping my toe in, that scene with the Turkish diplomat and Thomas came up and I shut my laptop and went to bed, deciding to never watch the show again even though I had admired it up to that point. My parents watched it though and told me that there wasn't any more of that foolishness so I started watching it again and I love it (as long as Thomas keeps his greasy hair and cold hands away from me). Anna and the Dowager Countess are my favorite characters. I haven't had time to watch the second season, though.
