YES. My friend gives me spock fives, and I have watched a few episodes, but as soon as I get free time, (probably summer vacation) I will watch more.
That is a great idea. I haven't finished it all yet, but I've watched the Original Series, most of The next Generation and the first season of Deep Space Nine
I've seen a wee bit. I do Spock-Fives as well. *Little bow*
THE NEW MOVIE IS IN 26 DAYS! I CANNOT WAIT! The trailers are AMAZING! They managed to turn my friend into a new Trekker. There's only 26 more Trekless days....
Is that the one with Benny in it? :D
I JUST GOT MY TICKETS FOR STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS TODAY AND IT COMES OUT TOMORROW AND I HAVE TICKETS FOR FRIDAY AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH I AM SCREAMING AND JUMPING RIGHT NOW!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡! IT COMES OUT TOMORROW *crying*
I'm not a massive fan... but I might check out the new movie since Benedict's in it! (You're right, Johanna!)
I noticed quite a few people started watching the shows because they liked the reboot so much. Hopefully the fact that Benedict is in this movie will add to the people who do this.
I JUST WATCHED STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS AND TO SAY I AM COMPLETELY DRAINED OF ALL EMOTION IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I WAS SOBBING AND FANGIRLING AND SCREAMING AND GENERALLY ANNOYING EVERYONE IN THE THEATRE. Using all caps is exhausting.
I just saw star trek into darkness and it was amazing!!! I watch the older episodes of star trek and I love them! Does anyone play rock paper scissors lizard Spock or am I the only one?!
Now I really think I should watch the movie!! I'm not really a trekkie but I watched like 3 seasons of Enterprise and almost all of Voyager. And then I thought I would watch the movie, but a friend of mine (who was a trekkie) said I should keep off the movies. But hey...Cumberbatch just puts a whole different spin to the whole movie-watching business.
I watch the next generation. Awesomeness! My sister and I debate- she likes Commander Riker, I like Captain Picard. Captain Picard is smarter and less hasty, I think. My sis thinks he's heartless and reserved.
I grew up watching the original Star Trek but Picard is my favorite of all the Enterprise captains. Though I find the series TNG didn't really come into it's own until Season 3. Spock and Data are 2 of the greatest characters ever created for television.
I'm currently watching the original and TNG with my daughter (8 years old) and she's loving it too.
I am the youngest and the only one in my family who watches Star Trek (original and TNG). I still can't decide if I like Spock or Data better.
I sometimes wonder how people don't like Star Trek, it's so good! I've watched the new movies and some of the original Star Trek and Next Generation. :) (I mean, it has Patrick Stewart, why wouldn't you watch it?)
I guess some people think: Oh it's going to be boring...some old fashioned sci-fi film. Before I really didn't care for Star Trek and stuff like that, but after watching it I loved it...they're really good! :)
I just became a Trekkie a week and a half ago :D I saw the newer movies first, but then I got to watching the original stuff--I prefer it to the new movies.
I like the old star trek shows. They were always very adventurous. I enjoyed them very much.
I got two good reason why I didn't watch much Star Trek till some months ago. When I was about 5 or 6 years old, my father watched an episode and what I saw traumatized me!! It was the only time I had a nightmare after watching a movie or a tv show. I just remember that soemone was turned into stone... and as a child it's hard to understand that it won't happen to you. And the second reason is that I always preferred Star Wars... That's not really a good reason but there will always be a fight between both fandoms, and I think there's no one who doesn't prefer one of them. Then I watched the 2009 Star Trek and liked it, and started to watch the first Star Trek movie ( which is really bad...). And then Star Trek : Into Darkness, not just because of Benedict Cumberbatch!! At this stage I've watched the new novies and the old movies 1-7 and the first episode of Kirk...
I love the tv show, William Shatner made an amazing Kirk. The adventure, comedy and social commentary made it a favorite for me.
And I posted a gif right on the first try! Whooo! *drops balloons from the ceiling*In all seriousness, I love the classic series. William Shatner makes for an incredible Kirk and Spock is incredible. And I always loved seeing Uhura because she was a black girl on a spaceship. 6-year-old me and also 14-year-old me think that's pretty radical.
I like the TOS because of the unity between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. I like the new Star Trek movies but not as much because in the new movies the unity of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy is replaced with Kirk, Spock, and Uhura. And Spock in the new movies acts more human whereas in the old TV shows he acts more Vulcan.

Surely there's enough imagination in the world to move forward on the fictional timeline instead of repetatively backward.

That is strange for the origin of class M to be Vulcan because in the 1st episode of the second season on TOS on Netflix, Amok Time, Captain Kirk had trouble with breathing. So technically every class M planet should be hard to breathe for humans, yet it wasnt shown in the show.

Wow, I missed that. I also saw that class K means adaptable. So, maybe that's what they meant?
