I have no idea who is going to be the next Doctor - I'm going to let BBC take over that one.
I hope that the next Doctor will not be female. After eleven reincarnations of being male, I think it would be just too weird having a female Doctor.

I'd like a female Doctor with red hair. That way he can be a ginger, and a female, which he hasn't been before either. That way Benedict Cumberbatch could be the 13th Doctor.That is my "plan".
There's odds Miranda Hart will be the next Doctor but she'd be hilarious as a one-off character like James Corden! I don't want a female doctor, it doesn't make sense! I want somebody totally new, actor-wise!

If he regenerates 12 times then he'll have 13 incarnationsz
That's a rumor, Moffat has confirmed. He can regenerate more times as they have no plans to end the show.

I have this weird thought that the 15th or 16th Doctor should be a 15 or 16 year old, and his/her companions would be all "Do you need help with that?" And the Doctor would just glare at them. If there's still a loooott of Doctors left, then that should happen for 1 season. At most.
I've heard loads that he can only regenerate 13 times! But I have also heard that he has unlimited regenerations!
I thought it was confirmed that Matt Smith is contracted to be the Doctor through at least 2014...

I have to argue with the bald though. I've always thought that the Doctor's hair was great. (*cough David Tennant! cough*) Not having any would make him unable to make it look cool. Or her.

I'm not personally a fan of the bald look on anyone, but I just think it would be different. If you look at all of the other Doctor incarnations, there is some serious wild hair going on. 9's was short, but I didn't care for him as the Doctor...

I love nine! I think it's terrible that he only got one season. But I suppose we're all entitled to our opinions.
@Sinda - nine should have had more than one season but Christopher said he did not want to get labeled as a guy who played one of the doctors.
I heard Matt's contract was up after the Christmas and he would see than if he wanted to sign on again or leave.....
As for who I would want to play the next Doctor...I know some people say Rupert from Harry Potter but I have always wanted the actors who played the twins in Harry Potter..that way there would be two Doctors and they would have red hair.

I've recently come across someone who could be the 12th Doctor - Mat Baynton, from the kids' show Horrible Histories. He already has connections within the BBC, and he's played many different roles, although it would be weird having two Doctors in a row with the same first name. :D

What if the next Doctor is a GIRL?!? Then I wouldn't be able to dream about him whisking me away into his TARDIS and we would be forever happy.
Imagine how hilarious everyone's reactions would be. All of his previous companions would be freaking out or laughing, and all the companions who had a crush on him would be all "ew what is happening". The more I'm thinking about that, the more I think it would be great. She could even be a ginger.
