i'm leaning to they've been there before, and are back on a mission, with their own agenda.it should be interesting to see how this plays out....
they have a huge chest full of weapons fronted by someone - I think Widmore is behind this again. He used the guise of having Ilana arrest Sayid to get her onboard.
and on the box of the weapons is a number 23, from the numbers list.
Do we know for sure that she was sent by Widmore? I dont seem to recall seeing the two of them together.....
My theory is that Ilana works/worked for The Economist, who I think is Charles Widmore. So I think maybe Ilana is kinda like Mr. Friendly was for Ben.
wasn't there a riddle presented to one of the losties in previous seasons? I cant remember the scenario, but i'm pretty sure there was one....
anyone know what i'm talking about? help refresh my memory
What lies under the shadow of the statue?Atlantis!
@Monika
You mean 'what one snowman says to another snowman?'
I thought about the Island being the Atlantes, and Now- all these status and carvings and egyptian mythology.... I wonder about this theory.
so the "What lies under the shadow of the statue" line is def. a passcode of some sort.wonder what it means, and who started it??
I think they're the descendents of the people who built the statue, and they've come for a war against either the others or the losties.
Richard knows the answer to the code question... only... does anyone know how to translate whatever it was that he was speaking?
Ok, I put the closed captioning on when Richard answered Ilana. Since Latin was the "Language of the Chosen", according to Juliet, I figured it was Latin. Here's what he said:"Ille qui nos omnes servabit"
There's so many different translations for each of the words, but you can get an idea of what maybe was being said if you just go to any Latin to English translator.
I kind of narrowed it down to, "He who which we pass by, being saved."
OR
"He who we all serve." or, "That which we all serve."
I think...like I said, there's A LOT of translations for each word, so it's fun to look through them all and try and put them all together!
WOW, Jessica! Your translation explanes a lot. "What lies under the shadow of the statu?"
"He who which we pass by, being saved'
Under the statue lies Jacob, then he is one who saves us and the one whom we all serve- GOD.
Lori's theory about God vs. Devil can be right.
I just have one question- if devil is John, than he won, as Jacob(God) was killed. Am I missing something?
The "Devil" used Johns appearance... It wasnt actually John. ANd I dont think Jacob is done for just yet. As with almost everyone.... he isnt dead until we see him die.... we saw him keel over, but not die... I think we will be seeing more of Jacob next season....
Good job with the translations!
Good job with the translations!
i am going with alex's theory on this, its smokey who wanted jacob dead, so he used John because everyone will listen to him, its the perfect cover, i dont know where the devil plays into this
i think john is dead, but its his spirit that we are seeing, just like we see christian or alex its the spirit, like an out of body type thing, and this is controled by smokey
ok your theory on devil vs god, is confusing i mean we know that jacob is probably god, but who is the devil then?
The Man in Black. The one who took Lockes place. I listed it out in the spoilers thread.
Just a theory. Pulling at strings.
The smokey thing just doesnt make sense. Smokey has never "been" someone for an extended period of time. Its always a glimpse, a moment... Alex was only a few minutes... then gone...
I dont think smokey is Christian either. Thats just my gut feeling.

so how did the dead people appear to be living on the island? What about the man talking to jacob in the beginning of the show's finale, who was he? he told jacob that he wanted him dead..
yes, precisely, Gene! WE think that man, who spoke to Jacob in the beginning, is the 'Devil'(who some think is equal to smoky)
I feel like I am going round and round.
I've covered this before.
I believe Smokey appears to people as things from thier past. He has been Kates Horse, Sawyers Pig, Hurleys imaginary friend, Jacks dad in the woods in season one,Eckos brother in the woods, Harper in the woods... and Alex in the temple.
I DO NOT think smokey takes the shape of anyone for a particuarly long time. So the Christian we have been seeing is not smokey. The Locke we have been seeing is not smokey. Jacob and the Man in Black is not smokey.

i apologize i just wanted to get your theory straight i did not mean upset you

Im not sure I buy into the theory that Richard is from egyptian times. I really want to see a history on him. We know that Jacob made him ageless, by appointing him the islands keeper/overseer/adviser, whathaveyou.... but we dont really have any proof that he is from egyptian times...
yea we dont have proof but he looks like one from the egyptian time
Lori, in 'Follow The Leader' we see Rikardus was trying to fix a ship in the bottle. Maybe that was a hint or a subtext or a whatever that said he was on The Black Rock?
But the Black Rock was not in Egyptian times. It was from the 1800's. And I kinda took that moment as a tongue in cheek "nod" towards the rumors from the writers and creators of the show....
But thats just me :)
But thats just me :)
But you don't believe Richard is an Egyptian or related to Egypt in any way...I don't either.Tongue-in-cheek? I don't know...I kinda think he comes from the Black Rock, or his flashback will be related to it in some ways.
Then again I've never been right with my theories :D

Ilana, Bram, and the now recently deceased Cesear:
First time on the island?
Return trip with a mission?
Are they like the frieghter people, planted by Widmore to do his dirty work, or there on their own dime and thier own agenda?
