William, have you finished this book?

I finished it last night Kevin.I really enjoyed it.There are a few differences between book and film(Bates is far more creepy in the book)and i much preferred the book.
A hugely influential book and definitely not over hyped.
4 1/2 stars
Thanks William, this has been on my TBR for many years, but being that I seen the movie about a dozen times I keep pushing the book back.
I've seen the movie many, many times and watch the Bathe Motel on A&E with my daughter. The book is more detailed, but less creepy in my opinion. I love that Hitchcock decided to make Norman physically appealing so it was easier to trust him and think he may not be the bad guy.Norman in the books is physically and socially unappealing so it's easier to see him as the freakin' psycho. The two sequels to the book were rubbish, but I read them anyway just to feel complete. :)
I love the movie and the show, but I was disappointed in the book. It's a shame because I actually love Robert Bloch and was excited about this. I think it was just so different than I figured it would be. I don't think he intended it to be this great, huge deal when he wrote it, so he wrote a short book and it shows IMO.I'm going to read the sequels though, can't help myself - I got the edition with the three books in one.
I read the book years ago and really enjoyed it. I think I understood the movie better afterwards, the whole psychological thing with his mother.

I may try the book.
