Lucas sighed as he made his way across the park before positioning himself on the bench that overlooked the small play area. He couldn't believe his sister. Honestly. Lyddy baby sat on most days, seeing how she had now finished school, but today she had managed to somehow forget to bring food along. So he was stuck doing her job. God she so owed him. Chewing on his bottom lip, Luke mad sure to keep track of the children he was supposed to be watching, tapping his foot absentmindedly as he did so and hoping that Lyddy would return sooner rather than later. He didn't know what the hell he was going to do if one of the little demons starting crying. Yea, lets just say that Lucas wasn't exactly a child-friendly person.
Haven was jogging around the park, it was her favorite place to run. Running calmed her down, and she could use some calming down today. She had failed to heal a major injury today, healing was her job. Someone almost died because she was off her game today. She forced herself to run faster, trying to out run the thoughts plaguing her mind. She zoned out of the area around her, focusing solely on her pace. Her eyes flashed wolf, maybe she was running too fast now, but she didn't care. All she cared about was getting back on her game. She couldn't afford to mess up again, she could risk someone's life again. She got lucky today because her patient didn't die, but what about next time? She forced that terrible thought from her mind, no, there would never be a next time. Never again.
Lucas sat back on the bench, relaxing as the sunlight hit the small area and tilting his head back for a moment for sitting back up. Might as well find someone to entertain his gaze. Preferably an extremely attractive girl. But he could go for average. Not a problem as long as she caught his eye. He scanned around the park before resting his eyes upon a pretty specimen. A girl, she was attractive, no, she was beautiful. And be was sure he felt...Something. He couldn't describe it, but his whole attention was latched on to the beautiful running girl. And he couldn't fanthom why.
Eyes. Haven felt eyes upon her, she glanced around the park, trying to locate the source. It was a guy. He was handsome...his greenish eyes seemed to be fixated on her. She couldn't seem to take her bluish orbs off of him either. She frowned slightly, what was happening? A blur of red movement in front of her caught her attention. A Frisbee? A small girl darted out in front of Haven to catch it, not even seeing that she was barreling right at her. She tried to stop herself but she couldn't, she managed to dodge the girl, but stumbled. She fell on her knees on the sidewalk, pain shot through her as the concrete dug into her palms.
Lucas found her eyes meet his, and felt his wolf leap and his own hart skipped a beat. What the hell was wrong with him? He was never like this with a girl. Usually he just winked and moddled that cocky smirk and they were his, but for some reason this girl was entirely different. He didn't want to stop watching her and desperately wanted to go over and introduce himself. Damn kids. At the sight of her falling onto the pavement his heart leapt and he was on his feet in an instant trying to make himself appear 'cool' whilst making a hurrying beeline toward her. As soon as Luke reached her he swore his would was all by ready to leap out of him and cuddle up close to her there and then; and although he had this barely there thought, he didn't believe it to be real. Instead Luke bent down letting his hand connect with her arm and instantly he couldn't breathe, couldn't swallow, became frozen. He felt his whole world shift, and she was the centre of his entire universe now. "Holy crap..." he managed to choke out. "Your her..."
(view spoiler)Sparks shot down her arm, igniting her entire body with a tingling sensation. "...Your her" his velvety voice claimed to her. Her? Her who? Confusion was evident on her on her flawless face, as she peered up at him. Shock, disbelief, and awe flashed across her face in an instant. Suddenly she knew exactly what he meant, her reason for living changed in that moment. Her wolf was dancing, howling as if she were a pup, in Haven's head. Mate... that was the word bouncing around in her mind. Her eyes widened in retaliation...this was her mate. He was her mate. Haven pushed herself jump from the ground her sight never leaving his. She went to brush herself off, and winced, hissing in pain. She inspected the damage, it wasn't too bad, just some scrapes and scratches. She would heal. The only thing that sucked about being a healer was that you couldn't heal yourself. Not that it matter, her wounds were minor. Ignoring them, she smiled shyly up at him, and muttered the only intelligent thing that popped in her head, "Hello."
(view spoiler)Lucas couldn't stop looking at her. She was just so...Beautiful, and perfect and the bond was so...Overclouding it was almost choking him, but in such a good way he just wanted to feel it even more. Wanted to be ever closer to her, despite the close proximity they were in now. He just wanted to get ever closer to her. She could see her flawless features mimicking her own, the emotions registering on her pretty face, the emotions he was sure that he was feeling as well. Mate. They were mates, she was his, he was hers. And he couldn't imagine anybody more perfect, so beautifully perfect than her. Her scent was overpowering him. He made sure to help steady her as she stood, one hand on her elbow, the other resting lightly on her shoulder as he inspected her injures before letting his gaze return to those fantastically blue eyes. He felt himself begin to smile, the corners of his mouth tugging upwards. "Hi." he managed. "And what might the pretty ladies name be." he ended on with a wife grin.
His smile took her breath away, the excitement in his greenish eyes made her blush. She took in his features, his brown locks blowing gently in the wind, his firm jaw line denoted power, his aura emitted a strong confidence. She literally had to keep her jaw from dropping, he was so handsome. All most too handsome in a way, his looks were those that someone could get lost in and never find their way out. He was hers. No one should be looking at her mate. The sudden possessiveness she had from him was shocking...yet amusing to her. She had never felt this way about anyone before. She had heard that when you find your mate, they become your whole world. She never actually believed it though, until now. She couldn't have been more wrong about something if she tried. His words finally registered on her mind, her mate was taking to her. Her heart rate sped up and she beamed at him, "My name would be Haven." He had called her pretty...had he really meant it? She scoffed internally at herself she had only known her mate for five minutes and she had already become a blushing school girl.
Lucas's heart was thumping painfully against his ribcage painfully. He couldn't even describe the feeling, it was just as if everything revolved around her. Her and only her. He was overwhelmed by it all, in such a good way. She was the most beautiful thing. Skye blue eyes that made him want to look at them forever, long golden locks that he wanted to run his fingers through idly and flawless skin, under his touch it was perfectly smooth and just...He didn't want anybody to touch her, anybody to look at her. She was his. His and his alone. He had seen how if father interacted with her mother, how protective he had been of her, how much he had loved her. Now he would be that person. "And mine would be Lucas." He said with a grin, hesitating for a moment before sliding his hand around hers. "Your perfect." He murmured softly, looking down at her.
"Lucas," her mouth formed the name that was fastly becoming more familiar to her than her own. It seemed right, rolling off her tongue as if it made be made for it. Which he had, they had been made for each other. Two separate halves creating a whole, together they were better and stronger than they would be alone. Most werewolves waited their whole lives for this moment only to never mind their mate and live out their days a hollow husk of what they could be. Of course one never realizes just how important a mate is to them until they've met. Finally having met Lucas, Haven couldn't picture her life without him. It would be a life unworthy of living, your mate is your life. To lose your mate is to lose your will to live, to love, to breath. "...perfect" her mate believed she was perfect, that was the highest compliment that Haven had ever been paid. She felt his hand grab hers, the sparks made the dull ache of her minor wound completely fade away. "Thank you," she was in awe of him, Lucas was perfect himself.
"Lucas." He confirmed softly with a smile. He kept repeating her name in his head. Haven. Haven...Haven.. He never thought he would find her, it had to be said. He thought he would end up alone forever. Just flitting from girl to girl in the hopes of finally settling down. But now he had found her. His mate. Some never even came across this moment, and he was thankful that he had been blessed with this beautiful girl to be his mate. He couldn't imagine any better person in his life. And he had only met her five minutes ago. Yet he never wanted to ever let her go. Not in this lifetime or any others. He couldn't stop smiling, it was just perfect. He was using the expression perfect way to much. But it didn't matter. It was the best word to describe how he felt. "You are very much welcome." He breathed before kissing her on the forehead, unable to prevent himself smiling.
He kissed her forehead and her face heated up, tingling around his lips. She was horrified, she had just been running for over a mile, she was all sweaty. How could the day that she meet her mate be the day she is completely unprepared? She looked down and examined herself, she was wearing a large yellow over-sized sweat shirt, with a pink camisole underneath it, matched with a short black pair of spandex shorts. It wasn't her most flattering look, not by a long shot. She started to feel uneasy, but seemed to cuddle closer to him anyways. "I didn't think I would be lucky enough to find you..." her words came out before she could stop them. But it was the truth, she was lucky to have found him...Lucas.(view spoiler)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Lucas chuckled slightly as he brushed a few strands of hair from her face before squeezing her hand. "Come sit with me." He suggested, and without waiting for a reply began leading her over to the bench he had been previously sitting on. He didn't care if she was all sweaty. In fact he found it sweetly endearing. And he already saw her as perfect as it was, he was just trying to imagine her in her normal clothes. He wasn't all to worried though. Perfect just the way she was. He gestured for her to sit beside him, hand still twined with hers as he settled himself on the bench.
Haven followed him absent thought, or reason. She knew her wolf was willing to follow her mate to the ends of the Earth. She smiled. Already her wolf was attached to him, oddly enough, her wolf usually hated everyone. Especially guys. She smiled to herself, he was so perfect for her, she was pleased with the goddess' choice for her. They sat down on the bench, her eyes looked to the children in front on them. They were shadowfield pups...he was in shadowfield? It didn't really bother her, the rule against mates from the rival pack had been lifted. She let out a sigh of relief she didn't know what she would have done had they not been able to be together.
Lucas smiled lightly as, after a moment, he began idly stroking a hand through her perfectly blonde locks. He knew that to a few people around the park it would either look odd, or endearing. Odd because it seemed like he barely knew the girl, yet was acting as if she was made for him--which she was-- or endearing because they thought that they may already be boyfriend and girlfriend. Either way he knew that he wouldn't be leaving her alone any time soon. Looks like she was stuck with him. He picked up the vague scent of Silvermoon, but brushed this off. Even if the rule hadn't been lifted, he would have found some way for them to be together. He didn't give a damn about any rule. Not now. "I uh..I can't believe this is really happening." He admitted almost shyly before glancing back to the playground. "I'm babysitting for my sister. Its her job but she had to go get some food. Should be back any time now." He offered up with a somewhat timid smile.
"That's sweet of you, your sister is lucky to have a brother like you." she rested her head on his shoulder as he began to play with her hair. She listened to the rise and fall of his chest, the constant beating of his heart. Their heartbeats matched perfectly. It shouldn't have really been surprising though, they were two halves of a whole. She sensed a pack member nearby and looked up, it was...Jason? She wasn't too sure of his name, they had never really talked before. He was with a smaller girl, her face was red, and she seemed to be very uncomfortable. Was he giving her a hard time or something? It was odd to think about for sure, she had never heard of, whatever his name was, being a bad guy...then again she didn't even know his name. She looked closer at the girl and realized she looked a lot like Haven's mate. And Cason, or whatever, was carrying a lot of food bags. So that was Lucas' sister, Haven thought she was beautiful.
Lucas chuckled slightly. "Not quite. She hates being social, you'll probably guess why in a minute. Just...Don't point it out though, its awfully embarrassing for her and it upsets her when other people blatently point it out." He edged around. "Nah, she would have much preferred to stay at the park, but what can I say? I had to get her back for making me sit through the notebook with her. And then I had to handle the tears and everything. It was horrifying, really." he had taken on a joking tone toward the end of his sentence, because the truth was he loved his little sister with all his heart, and he would lay his life on the line for her if it came down to it. "So, my beautiful mate, tell me a few things about yourself." He decided, having to get used to the taste of the word 'mate' on his tongue. It felt so odd and just...Odd. He let his gaze travel up as he caught the scent of his sister, and instantly a frown creased his brow as he watched her, appearing to be with a guy...But that couldn't be right. Lyddy was never seen with guys...No...She couldn't have...Couldn't have found her mate too, right? Not both of them on the same day, surely.Lyddy couldn't help but let the small smile on her lips shine through as he spoke. So he did like her, and maybe he wasn't disappointed. His words made her feel particularly fuzzy on the inside, warm and fuzzy and something else that she couldn't quite pinpoint just yet. Why on earth would he think she was nervous...I mean, sure she was a little bit, but it was those good type of nerves that make you want to have more. So why... She pinpointed it then and another wave of red spilled across her cheeks. "I-I'm not n-nervous. H-honestly." She reassured with a nod, not delving any further into it. The only people she had found she could talk to without her stutter was small children. Hence the reason why she intended to become a kindergarten teacher when she was older, and why she was babysitting now, in fact. Hell, secretly she was hoping it would eventually rub off, her non-stuttering that was- and then she would be free of the damned speech problems. She couldn't help but let out a short laugh at his blush, standing up on her tiptoes and having to reach out with her fingertips to lightly run her hand across his face, those same sparks there. "W-well lets go t-then." She stated and after hesitating, intertwined her fingers with his, beginning to walk.
"Well I'm a pack healer...though I've hit a rough patch with my healing lately. I just moved here a month or so go, my previous pack was wiped out by rogues..." she trailed off the painful memories began to resurface and she couldn't continue her sentence. She took a deep breath, and tried to change the subject, "Tell me something about yourself? I already know you have a sister, whose beautiful I might add. You're a great brother, though you like to tease your sister. Also you seem to have something against the Notebook, which is my favorite movie..." Haven started to laugh, "I'm kidding about that, actually my favorite movie is, well, currently Easy A, I guess." She smiled at him, feeling a lot happier than when she had first arrived at the park. She noticed Lucas looking at his sister and the guy she was with, "He's from my pack, though I can't recall his name, he's a hunter...I think." She informed him quietly, with a small smile."Well, if I ever do make you nervous let me know. I never want to scare you away, you're far too important to me. Let's hope your brother likes me...I'd really rather not get punched in the face today." Mason chuckled nervously, trying to cover up the fact that he was completely serious. His face was still tingling from her touch, he reached down and grabbed her hand lacing his free hand with hers. Sparks danced along the skin that was in contact, he loved the feeling. The feeling that came with the knowledge that she was his, forever. "I couldn't have been blessed with a better mate, Lyddy." He wanted her to know that, know that he was completely ecstatic with her as his mate. He looked up to see both Haven and Lyddy's brother's eyes on him, he sighed. Well better get this over with, the sooner her brother found out the sooner he would stop fearing for his life. Mason had heard stories of things that his friends, old friends, did to their sister's mates...it was horrible.
"I'm sorrry for your loss." Lucas spoke with sincerity as he nodded his head, looking down at her. "I know what its like to lose people you're close to." He decided to leave off at that, not really keen on telling an entire sob story right now, he just wanted to get to know her better. "I'm a sentinal for my pack, second in command and aiming for the top. We moved back here about a year ago now. When I turned eighteen. We had been living in Nashiville though." He informed her, his country twang a clear indicator that he was telling the truth. He chuckled slightly at her words, shaking his head. "I wouldn't be a good brother if I didn't tease her." He informed Haven oh-so casually, nodding as he did so. "Y-your favourite movie. Well I guess its not so bad." He corrected himself quickly, wanting to make a good first impression on her. "Oh, Easy A huh? I think Lyddy might have that somewhere. I've never watched it though. Speak of the devil." He gestured to his sister and the guy, the hunter Haven had told him, approaching hands linking. "Hey Lyd. Who's your boy toy?" He teased with a grin and a wink."Who's y-your bimbo?" Lyddy shot back in reply, rolling her eyes at her older brother. "This 'bimbo'-" Lucas used his fingers for quotation marks. "Happens to be the beautiful and wonderful Haven. Also my mate." His grin turned giddy at this, and Lyddy couldn't help but smile and she held her arms out and Lucas stood, enveloping her into a hug. "Congrats b-bro." She said with a smile. "Oh, and this is Mason. Also happening to be my mate." She couldn't surpress her smile as her brother squeezed her back tightly. "Well I think tonight we should celebrate." Lucas decided before turning his attention to Mason. "It's good to meet you man." He started, offering his hand to shake. "And just a forewarning. You hurt her and I'll kill you." He spoke the words casually, as if they didn't mean anything at all. But he was deadly serious. In the meantime, Lyddy had reluctantly let go of her own mates hand and had edged around her brother to see Haven. "It's l-lovely to m-meet you. S-sorry about the b-bimbo stuff. I'm L-lyddy." She introduced herself with a warm smile and a nod of her head.
"I'm sorry for your loss as well," Haven murmured quietly," looking up into his beautiful eyes. "Sentinel? That's impressive, I've never been the front lines kinda fighter, always made sure they were healed though. Nashville? I've been to Memphis once, it was a tad scary at night." She laughed as she heard him stumble over his words when he thought that the Notebook was her favorite movie. "Easy A is pretty funny, well it's stupid, but it just makes me laugh so hard. Emma Stone always makes me laugh." She turned her eyes from him to look at his sister, "Who's y-your bimbo?" Ouch. That one stung a bit, Haven kept her face blank, and didn't let it phase her."Nice to know, though that will never happen. I would never hurt your sister...well intentionally anyways." Mason foundered on his words, he knew that Lyddy's brother was serious. He took his hand, Lucas had a strong grip...a very strong grip. He tried not to wince as he took his hand back, it was throbbing slightly in pain. He heard Lyddy apologizing for calling Haven a bimbo, and Haven reply, "Oh that's quite alright, I'm Haven, it's a pleasure to meet you Lyddy." Haven was taking it pretty well, Mason once seen a girl rip another one's hair out for calling her a bimbo. "We should all go celebrate tonight, it's crazy that both of you found your mates on the same day. The goddess works in weird ways, huh?" He chuckled softly to himself. "FOOD!" he heard a lot of tiny voices yell, as he looked up to find a mob of hungry kids running straight for him.
"It's the only thing that really ever appealed to me. I mean, a hunter sounds like an alright thing, but my dad used to be a Sentinel, so I guess its sort of my way of living up to him. I hope I am anyway." He murmured the last part although smiled at her words. "Yea, it can get pretty scary, especially with more than a few bars around and a whole lot of people to fill them." he replied with a nod of his head, smiling as she spoke. "I'll watch it with you sometime." He stated, leaning down to kiss her on the side of the head before turning his attention back to Mason. "Intentional or not I don't give a damn, hurt her and you'd best be watching your back. But anyway, its good to meet you." Lucas shook his hand, making sure to make his grip strong, just to give the guy a taster for what he was in for if he laid a finger on his little sister wrong. Not that he thought he would. But you could never be to careful.Lyddy chewed on the inside of her cheek for a few moments, it had to be said, Haven had her own dream appearence. She could only wish that she was tall. Long legged with hair spun of gold and eyes as blue as a cloudless sky. But she was far from that appearence, and it wasn't as if she could change much about herself besides her hair colour. Coloured contacts messed up her eyes, so she was forced to stay with clear contact lenses. Mind you, she preferred her contacts rather than the bulky, thick rimmed glasses she kept at home for when she was at home. She would never let anybody besides her brother see her with them on. And she intended for her mate not to see her wearing them as well. "You s-sure are b-beautiful. My brothers a lucky guy." She pointed out. The girl seemed nice enough, and being a good judge of character Lyddy was sure her personality was of kindness. At the sound of voices her attention returned to the children, a smile playing across her features and she side stepped around Lucas, of who was now settling himself back beside Haven and gently pried the bags from Mason's grasp, settling herself down on the floor cross legged. "Now kids, just line up one at a time ok?" It was the first time she had raised her voice more, as well as not stuttered, accentuating her country accent.
Haven's face turned red as he kissed her the side of her head, she squeezed his hand letting him know he should take it easy on Mason. But she couldn't help her smile, she loved that her make was protective, it was a good thing. Well Haven thought so anyways. She was happy that he said he would watch her favorite movie with her, it told her a lot about her mate. She gaze moved to Lyddy at her words, and she gave her a friendly smile, "Me? You're the beautiful one, I would kill to have your smile. It's completely stunning! Oh, and I'm the lucky one...not your brother." Haven was impressed at the way Lyddy handled the children...she would make a great mother one day.Mason stood behind his mate, helping out where and when he could. He was frightened of her brother, he wasn't proud to admit it, but it was true. Lucas was a scary guy, Mason just wasn't going to show it. He couldn't help but to be amazed by his mate, she was so perfect. She took charge of the children so fast it made his head spin. His mate was fearless, he like that a lot. He smiled over at Haven, seeing that she was just as awed by his mate as he was. "So Lucas, what did you have in mind for tonight?" he asked trying to start a conversation with his mate's brother.
Lucas simply sent Haven a short smile as she squeezed his hand, a sparkle in his eye. He honestly never thought he would find his mate, truthfully. He had always been a sort of player, a guy that slept around. Hell, that had been mainly the reason why he had been checking her out in the first place. But it still wasn't the point. It was strange how quickly your life could change within a blink of an eye. Just one simple meeting could completely turn everything around, completely change who you are. It was, he thought, amazing. "I have a few ideas." He mused as he looked up at his sisters mate, knowing he had gotten the intention across that he wasn't one to be messed with. "Y'all could come round to our house for takeway. I know it doesn't sound extravagant but I'd say our house was quite big, and takeaways always a winner, right Lyd?" He questioned his little sister, of whom was preoccupied with the children."R-right." She looked over her shoulder at all three of them, handing out the individual meals and laying out a blanket on the patch of grass beside the bench, seating them all down there and counting them all ove twice before nodding. "Right kids, just come tell me when you've finished ok? After you've eaten it'll be time to go back home, and if you need a toilet break just come see me, and either me or Lukey will take you, ok?" She stated, to which the children murmured a yes, stuck into their food. Lyddy now made her way back to the bench, hesitating for a moment before plopping herself down on her newfound mates lap. "O-oh p-please. I-I guess m-my smile is a-alright. 2 years of b-braces did the t-trick." She said with a smile. "Although I-I have to agree w-with you on the second p-part. Your l=lucky to have m-my brother. He's a good m-man. W-when he isn't a-annoying me that i-is." She said with a soft smile gently nudging her brothers shoulder playfully.
Mason was slightly shocked when Lyddy sat on his lap, but it made him smile. He was glad that his mate wanted to be closer to him. "That sounds like a plan, I think it would be a great way for us to get to know each other." He was glancing nervously over at Lucas, wondering if he was mad about Lyddy sitting on his lap. He wasn't paying attention to him and Lyddy though, Lucas was too busy staring at Haven. He smiled to himself, he was glad that Haven had found her mate. From what he had heard, before she came to the Silvermoon pack, her life had been rough. He felt bad for her, but it was impressive that she came out unscathed. He focused back on his own mate, once again happy that he had found her. She was beautiful, funny, sweet, caring. He couldn't wait to get to know her better, and he was thrilled to have a chance to. He thought back to his life this morning and how he had tried to stay away from people. Now she had changed that. He wanted to be around her more than anyone since he had left his old pack. Haven grinned and looked over at Lucas, before replying to Lyddy, "I wanted braces so bad when I was younger, though I'm not sure why I didn't need them. But I begged and begged my mother for months until finally she agreed. She took me to the dentist the next day, and told him I wanted braces. He laughed. He laughed right in her face, my mom got so angry she punched him in the face. Needless to say, I never got my braces." Haven laughed as she was telling her story, it used to be embarrassing but now she just found it funny. She looked up when she seen one of the children trip and fall, he started crying and she went to check on him. "Are you okay?" she got down to his level and asked him. He just shook his head. "Well then, here let me help." she held her hand out for his banged up arm. The little boy stuck out his arm, Haven kissed his cut, and it went away completely. He grinned and gave her a big hug, then ran off to play with his friends.
