jaxnsmom | 8339 comments It's that time again! I hope you have your books and snacks ready, and that there's a Do Not Disturb sign on your door/car seat.

Have fun, and let the reading and chatting begin!

message 12: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61935 comments I've actually been reading for a bit this morning. I was trying to finish The Red Tent before I start my Toppler book - Misery.

message 15: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5233 comments Water is in the kettle for tea, I am turning my back from the window so I do not see that white stuff falling and I am off to start The Kite Runner.

message 16: by jaxnsmom (last edited Apr 13, 2013 09:19AM) (new)

jaxnsmom | 8339 comments I am so off balance. I have had The Chocolate Moose Motive: A Chocoholic Mystery set aside all week. For some reason I looked at my paper showing the number of reviews for each book, and I noticed Chocolate Moose didn't have the lowest number. So then I checked my thread and Chocolate Moose wasn't the book I posted to read. I'm actually reading To The Elephant Graveyard. Good thing I looked!

message 17: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8339 comments I'm going to sit outside for a while with the dogs and read. Will check back when I have to come in for a pee break/snack/drink/dog treats/more water for dogs :D

message 18: by Lara (new)

Lara | 1426 comments Started Deep Change Discovering the Leader Within by Robert E. Quinn . I'm on a non-fiction roll these days. I wasn't really in the mood to start, but I'm finding the book interesting and easy to read.

message 19: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4257 comments I am starting The Great Santini. I hope I can finish this book today.

Sigh, I wish I could sit outside. We actually had snow falling this morning!

message 21: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4257 comments Bless your heart! I know you are tired of snow!

message 22: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments jaxnsmom wrote: "Ok, what are Twiglets? Ya'll are going to have to share these foods!"

Do you remember the great Vegemite vs Marmite debate? (if not, it's pretty much just concentrated yeast extract - Aussies have vegemite, the English have Marmite).

Twiglets are marmite flavoured whole-wheat snacks. So deliciously savoury!

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments Janice wrote: "I've actually been reading for a bit this morning. I was trying to finish The Red Tent before I start my Toppler book - Misery."

Oh I loved Misery - it was even creepier than the movie. I hope you enjoy it Janice!

message 24: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4257 comments Janice, you will not be able to put the book Misery down.
You better eat now because you will not want to stop and eat once you start reading. lol

message 25: by Josée Leon (new)

Josée Leon (join_bookland) Trying to read at Tkd tournament. A bit tough to concentrate... 2 pages in lol

message 26: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I agree with everyone's comments about Misery. It's a page-turner!

message 27: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5233 comments Lara wrote: "Sigh, I wish I could sit outside. We actually had snow falling this morning! .."

I am not alone. It's has been snowing since yesterday. If it does not change into rain soon, i am going to have to shovel.... And back to my book.

message 28: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61935 comments I decided to finish The Red Tent. I feel like I'm waking from a long sojourn. It's a glorious feeling I get from reading. And it sounds, from everyone's comments about Misery, that I'm about to return to the land of dreams and this time, maybe nightmares.

message 29: by Josée Leon (new)

Josée Leon (join_bookland) Misery is one of my favorites. I read it twice.

message 30: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4257 comments @ Josee: what is a Tkd tournament? I am a little out of the loop. Sorry.

@ Janie: you have a winner on your hands! everyone agrees!

message 31: by Marnie, Moderator (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3443 comments Just added Misery to my TBR- loved the movie but never read the book. Hey aren't the Topplers suppose to diminish your TBR... I must be a numsky!

message 32: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21509 comments Hi everyone, I am late, but here now. I have my coffee and my book, The Giver ready to start. It will be raining off and on all day here, with wind and hail expected, so no outside stuff for me.

@ Josee: Tkd is Tae-Kwon-Do. Her son is competing in a tournament. She did not say what he is entered in, but typically, they do forms, sparring, breaking boards, and weapons competitions. Everything is broken into age groups and belt colors. Depending on the size of the tournament, there may be 6 to 10 rings set up and multiple events all going on at the same time.

message 33: by Sam (new)

Sam (ecowitch) | 2411 comments Well I think I csn honestly say that sweet potato chipd (fries) rock and are perfect for keeping energy levels up during a toppler :-D

message 34: by Debra (last edited Apr 13, 2013 11:01AM) (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Just popping in to say that Almeta and I are moving right along with our books.

Sam, sweet potato fries sound yummy!

BTW, Almeta is reading a book called Haunts by John Douglas, which I can't find via search.

I'm reading Cat's Cradle by Vonnegut, which I'm finding to be quite humorous!

message 35: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61935 comments How's everyone doing? I've met Annie Wilkes and she is beyond freaky.

@ Marnie - yes Topplers are supposed to "topple your tba piles", but it's really a paradox.

Break time. I can taste that blueberry bagel, toasted with butter and honey, and I haven't even made it yet.

message 36: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments I'm more than half-way through my first book, Boy Meets Boy - I just love the way David Levithan mixes fantasy and reality with really unique characters.

I keep getting distracted by The Voice on the TV, and now for my lovely microwave dinner :-| LOL

message 37: by Jess :) (new)

Jess :) | 248 comments On the Eve, here we go! I've been looking forward to this one for awhile :)

message 38: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4219 comments *Gasp* I alomost forgot all about the toppler! Tomorrow I am going to be out for most of the day, should read as much as I can right now (11:40pm my time). I have my cuppa hot chocolate in hand, it's raining outside, lovely weather. Off to start my book The Violet Hour: A Novel.

Kat, you're doing so great. Hope everyone is enjoying their books.

message 39: by Lara (new)

Lara | 1426 comments My book is fast enough that I think I'll be able to fit another one in. I hope so, anyway.

message 40: by Josée Leon (new)

Josée Leon (join_bookland) @connie re TKD. Cherie explained it well. There are 12 rings here today. Félix gas done his patterns and high kick so far. Sparring (kind of like fighting) is coming up next. No wins today yet (second in high kick though no medal for that).

message 41: by Ann (new)

Ann (disciple45) I'm almost halfway through Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie and I'm enjoying it very much although I am fighting off falling asleep. It's too warm without the fan but too cool with the fan on! The loveliness of spring! So now, more water to drink and then to finish book one and then choose another! Happy reading!

message 42: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4257 comments I am just checking in. I am trying to read but keep getting distracted by other things. Oh well...

message 43: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4219 comments Same here, Connie. Haven't even started with my book, too distractible today.

message 44: by Lara (new)

Lara | 1426 comments I finished my book! It was really quick and very relevant to anyone needing to make changes (in life or work).

Trying for a second read, the next choice is to read the book that has been on my shelf or TBR list the longest. I'm choosing Hold Me Closer, Necromancer (Necromancer, #1) by Lish McBride . I have owned other books longer, but they would be rereads. So, I'm going to the book that has been on my TBR list the longest.

message 45: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Almeta and I are taking a wine break. Plum wine!

message 46: by Sam (new)

Sam (ecowitch) | 2411 comments Checking in having finished my first book. Got my next method with the fewest ratings now off to figure out which one that is...I'll be back!

message 47: by Sam (new)

Sam (ecowitch) | 2411 comments And the winner is She Is My Anger with no ratings...well it'll have one after tonight :-)

message 48: by Anna (new)

Anna Kļaviņa (annamatsuyama) | 1464 comments Just finished A Morbid Taste for Bones.
Now I'm going to read a book that have fewer rating. Snow maiden Снегурочка - 16

message 49: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments Just finished my first book, and now I'm going to start on the one that has been on my TBR longest - So Brave, Young and Handsome. Well, after I find it!

message 50: by Beverly (new)

Beverly | 194 comments I was awake 5:00 P.S.T. but I didn't start reading until nine. The only thing I wish it was more about shoes and less about Hollywood and more about shoes and the designers.
