I thought he was going to stop at 11 and then I heard about this! I think I am just going to order the book straight from Australia so I can get it a month earlier!
Here is the nondescriptive summaryThe story that brings the Ranger's Apprentice arc full-circle!
Will Treaty has come a long way from the small boy with dreams of knighthood. Life had other plans for him, and as an apprentice Ranger under Halt, he grew into a legend—the finest Ranger the kingdom has ever known. Yet Will is facing a tragic battle that has left him grim and alone. To add to his problems, the time has come to take on an apprentice of his own, and it’s the last person he ever would have expected. Fighting his personal demons, Will has to win the trust and respect of his difficult new companion—a task that at times seems almost impossible.
John Flanagan returns for one final bow to the series that has conquered millions of readers worldwide with this pulse-pounding adventure that brings one era to a close, and ushers in the next . . .
Here is the descriptive summary with a *MINOR SPOILER*
Here is the story that brings the Ranger’s Apprentice arc full circle. Will, now a grown man, has lost his beloved wife, Alyss, and the once mischievous and spirited young man has grown grim and humorless. The Rangers still exist but are desperate for leadership and new energy. That new energy arrives in a most unexpected way: Maddie, the daughter of Horace and Evanlyn — a headstrong girl always getting in trouble and with no interest in her royal status. When Halt, Will’s onetime mentor, suggests that Will take Maddie under his grumpy wing, Will balks at first. Yet there is something about this troublesome and brave girl that reawakens the Ranger in Will. Finally, the Ranger’s Apprentice has an apprentice of his own.
This is pretty surprising considering that he's already started writing another series based in the same world, the Brotherband Chronicles
Not really. He had been thinking about the Brotherbamd Chronicles before he wrote the 10th and 11th RA books.
But since he is writing The Royal Ranger I don't think the next Brotherband book will be coming out anytime soon.
I'm kinda hyperventilating right now...I only saw the synopsis for the 12th book online tonight and was overcome with soooooo many emotions. My first reaction was just pure shock and horror. And then I was like...maybe this is a fake. And then, oh no this doesn't look like a fake. WHY JOHN FLANAGAN, WHY?????????
P.S: If I seem a little emotional right now, its coz when I found out I emailed my friends and the only one who answered was like...it's good character development. And I was like, thanks a million buddy, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. So like all normal people I reverted to online chat forums for a little communal cry.
Why did I have to find out about this?!?!?! WHY?!?! I will die of anxiousness from waiting. I feel like this series could go on forever if it wanted! I almost died when I read The Lost Stories, they were great! I am a little saddened because I had finally gotten over that that was the end of the series and now that it's not, I'm gonna have I deal with this pain all over again. I'm both happy and sad for this, but mostly HAPPY!!!!!:):):):)
Joshua wrote: "Is the 12th book really making people that mad?"just stressed and nervous. For one thing Flanagan is messing with the characters I love and dragging them down the dark path...granted he'll probably do it well but until I read it there's a definite possibility that he may not only mess with the characters but also destroy the entire book series...which I know I really don't want happening. I reckon that's what other people are feeling too.
I have joked that the things he is doing to a couple of the characters are really upsetting me. Although, in truth I am excited for the new side of the characters I am going to see and cannot wait to fall in love with the new characters he is introducing.
