Yeah I haven't read it either, but I want to.
I finally made it to the movie to see it. We went on senior's day so we saved a little and the theater was empty. I am allergic to the odor of popcorn. I have to say I enjoyed it much more than the book!! Halfway into it I was so glad that I took lots of Kleenex as I started to cry and it went on and on! The book made me cry at the end but the movie really got to me.
I feared the movie would be too dark as there are so many dark cave scenes in the book and I hate dark caves. I thought I might be claustrophobic but it was "perfect" to quote SM. They had more electricity and so much of the cave system was lit up and looked very good. The wheat field really glowed. My husband had to watch the very last credits as we thought one of the rocks was Shiprock and sure enough it was. He had to wait to the very end to be sure.
You will really hate the villain even more in the movie or at least I did. Go see it soon before its gone but then you will be able to buy the DVD anyway.

I want to read it before I see the movie.
That might be an idea, but I don't know if I want that in these groups.
Okay, well if you have anymore ideas just let me know.
