TV ADDICT CHALLENGE

duration: continuous
(Challenge starts the day you post it)

I really wanted to do this challenge, so here is how it goes:

1) pick a show
2) pick a season or seasons you want to do (you could do all or one)
3)get a list of all the episode titles for that season (or seasons)
4)then either pick books to read that have the same words in the episode title
OR read a book with a cover that matches that title (of the episode)
OR use the synopsis of your book and relate it to the episode (as in what happened in that episode or just the title)

Example:

show: The Walking Dead
season 1
episode 4: "Vatos" (Andrea's sister, Amy,dies in this episode)
book: Little Women (Beth, dies in this book; sister to Jo, Meg and Amy)

I love this, I just need to decide on a tv show.

I wonder why this didn't pop for me. I'll come up with something as well.

I am so pathetic. I hardly ever watch TV on my own. My family does, but not me. So I don't really have a favorite show. I looked at a few I enjoy and the names just wouldn't work for books so I am going to go with the most watched show in my house. Thank goodness for 3 year old boys.

yeah, like for the episode "prey" (for the walking dead) in this episode the governor was hunting andrea- for this one i chose "Red Dragon" because in this book the red dragon hunts and kills people/prey...so you can use the synopsis for your book, if you can remember the episode in question.

BTW, I love Spartacus.

@Camilla, the director who wrote Spartacus, Steven DeKnight was assistant to Joss Whedon and worked on Buffy. this was his first time to helm a show and he said he used what he learned from being on Team Whedon in Spartacus.

LOL I only did season 1... to start with. We've watched the Cuckoo Bears episode every day this week.

I never watched buffy but those show titles look pretty easy to do .

Grey's Anatomy is my favorite show but I also liked Alias. Maybe I'll do that one next.

you went old school Grey's---when it was a good show. I just stopped my season recording yesterday. I have had enough. i hate the new interns (except for Karev's love interest) and I don't know if I will watch another episode. The writing has just gotten that bad for me. But it was my favorite show for years.
RIP Mark Sloan & Lexie Grey---I swear I cried for them for awhile.

I always had hoped they would patch things up with Isaiah Washington (Burke) because the chemistry with Sandra Oh (Christina) has never been matched, not even with Owen.

I used to watch it too, I stopped sometime in 2010. The writing just wasn't doing it for me either.

I don't have cable so I'm a few seasons behind. I think I'm on season 8 (right after the massacre at the hospital). It went downhill when they merged with mercy west. Those interns are just terrible. They just don't have any personality at all. I watch it periodically but it's no longer a favorite.

Taryn Loves Television: Part Un

The only thing almost as pressing as my book addiction is my addiction to television. Weird cartoons, political thrillers, inappropriate comedies, and cowboy science fiction..what doesn't TV have to offer? The only reason I haven't started this challenge yet is that I can't decide which show to do. I have so many favorites. I'm not a big movie person. I think over the years they've gotten predictable and unimaginative, but television has only gotten better. I will say though, I'm not into this 90s sitcom thing. HIMYM, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory just aren't really for me....But still, there are plenty to choose from. I think the only way to complete this challenge and stay true to myself, is to take on a season of two different shows at one time. And to be honest, this will probably be an ongoing challenge for me. It was tough to even just focus on these two shows. (My favorite show of all time is It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia..but that does NOT lend itself well to the challenge lol)

Love's Labours Lost in Space: Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon Completed 01/22/2015 How it fits: Here we meet Zapp Brannigan, a chauvinistic, selfish, and effeminate space captain whose self-imporantce leads him into crazy situations throughout the whole series. Although a more comedic form in the show, this archetype male is found in the selected book in the form of Jack Randall.

5. Fear of a Bot Planet: Inkheart by Cornelia Funke Completed 12/17/2014 How it Fits: In this episode, Fry and Leela are imprisoned. In Inkheart, the main characters are often also imprisoned.

A Fistful of Dollars: The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett Completed 2/15/2015 How it fits: In the show, Mom (the antagonist) is trying to get a valuable item from Fry, and so tries to trick him into being captured. She eventually captures him because he is naive and little dumb. In this book, one of the protagonists also gets caught by the antagonist because he was naive and a little dumb.

7. My Three Suns: A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin Completed 2/1/2015 How it fits: In this episode Fry accidentally drinks the king, then becomes the king himself. While he's king, the king he drank (besides a lot of other water droplets) try and kill him for the throne. In this book. many kings are vying for the throne.

8. A Big Piece of Garbage: Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls by David Sedaris Completed 2/5/2015 How it fits: One of Sedaris' stories is about how people litter all over the road. The episode is about litter in the 20th century.
