What about a little getting to know you....
I'm Lindsey, 27 and from upstate New York..and by upstate NY I mean practically Canada! I have two of my own dogs (Lily and Kona) and two rentals--Boomer and Daisy (my cousin's that I take care of along with his house where I live). I teach high school English.. literally. I have a section of 9th graders, a section of 10th graders, a section of 11th graders and 2 sections of 12 graders! I'm super busy!

My favorite authors are Jodi Picoult, Margaret Atwood, Chris Crutcher, Shakespeare. I'm a huge YA Lit buff. I always have been but now that I teach high school, I like to read the newest and "hippest" novels for my students.

When I'm not reading I snowboard, hang out with friends, go to concerts, and I just recently learned to surf!

Favorite bands are Hanson (of course), Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers, OAR, Matchbox 20, Ingrid Michaelson, Jewel, Eric Hutchinson, Brett Dennen, The Dirty Heads, Jack's Mannequin...

Now... your turn! :)

Johanna (johannag__) | 6 comments Hey!! My name is Johanna and I live in Philadelphia, PA. I work as a physical therapist at a large trauma hospital and I love it.

My all-time favorite author is Judy Blume. I love reading memoirs and autobiographies. I feel like I'm still searching for my favorite "adult" book. (My favorite "kid" book is "Just As Long as We're Together" by Judy Blume.) I also love the Hunger Games.

Other hobbies: hanging out with friends, going to the gym, exploring Philly, painting my nails, shopping, and traveling.

Favorite music: Hanson, No Doubt, John Mayer, Matchbox 20, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Blink 182.

Is anyone going to MOE?

Megan Dwyer (m_dwy) | 7 comments I'm Megan, I'm from Chicago, and right now I'm working at a grocery store doing ordering. I'm about about to leave to finish up my degree.

I love memoirs so much, especially about people with mental illnesses/trauma. I also like to read realistic fiction. One of my favorite books is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. Collections of short stories are always on my shelf because I don't have to feel bad about not reading them all at once.

Hobbies? I used to write a lot but that's been on the backburner as of late--I play trivia with my friends a couple times a week, I hang out with puppy, and try to travel as much as possible.

Favorite music--Hanson, Matchbox 20, Brandi Carlile, Mumford and Sons, lots of late 90s alternative, Goo Goo Dolls.

Ill be at MOE this year and also at the Chicago shows for sure.

emma cassedy (whisperedink) | 5 comments I'm Emma - from Asheville, North Carolina. I'm 29 and I've been working in medical records for almost three years. It isn't where I plan to be for forever - I have a degree in English and Creative Writing so we'll see where I'm finally able to end up. I volunteer a lot at my local no-kill animal shelter and I have a dog and a cat who I collectively call "The Ls" because my cat's name is Lorelei (after the Sylvia Plath poem - yes, I'm a certified nerd, lol) and Lindy who are both rescues.

I read way too much (side effect of going to an arts school for writing and then college for English and writing I guess) and my favorites are Dean Koontz, Mark Haddon, Douglas Adams, George Singleton, Haven Kimmel, Jaspher Fforde and too many others. I have two shelves of short story collections alone (again, arts high school is to blame for that) and I enjoy creative non-fiction and anything by the Dalai Llama as well.

I read (obviously) and write in my spare time along with volunteering. I also love to bake and cook.
Some of my favorite music belongs to Hanson, Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Mumford and Sons, Rilo Kiley, Jimmy Eat World, The Decemberists....

Katie (concertkatie) | 3 comments I'm Katie from Connecticut, I'm 28 and work as a software engineer. I also do book reviews on my blog so I always have a HUGE list of books that need to be read. (I just got 9 more to review in my email today - yikes!)
I prefer YA and thriller / mysteries. The one I started today is a Scrapbook Murder Mystery which is kind of the perfect genre for me since I'm a scrapbooker too.

Johanna (johannag__) | 6 comments Megan- Have you gone to MOE before? This is my first time and for some reason I also had the crazy idea to go to it by myself. Getting excited as it gets closer but a little nervous too! haha

Katie (concertkatie) | 3 comments I'll be at MOE too. Forgot to mention that :)

Yes! I went last year for the first time and had a great time. This year my friends are not joining me--they backed out after I had paid for everything! boo! I'd be up for meeting or hanging out since we'll both be loners! I'm pretty normal, I think. What session are you in?

message 9: by Johanna (new)

Johanna (johannag__) | 6 comments Megan- Bummer about your friends! But I'm definitely looking forward to meeting new people! I'm in session 2 and going to the listening party at 4pm. What about you?

Katie- Love that you mentioned the scrapbook murder mystery. A few years back I randomly read a stamping club murder mystery. Had no idea so many of these crafting fiction novels existed.

Katie (concertkatie) | 3 comments The murder mystery turned out pretty good, I just finished it today. Then I read 4 more quick and easy books to review too. There are these books called "Cozy Classics" and they are geared at kids and they sum up classic novels (I "read" Les Mis and War And Peace today and previously had Moby Dick and Pride and Prejudice) in 12 words and have a character or scene made out of felt to accompany it. They are so cute. My books to review list is at 13 now!

I'm in session 2 and 2pm listening party.
