I loved Trevor. The only problem I had was wishing that the story were longer. :)

$5.99 for a novella is a bit above the norm here.
I probably wouldn't have purchased it normally, but I recently quit smoking so I treated myself. :)
Don't forget that the books are considered imports in the UK, since there is no UK publisher for them. That will increase the price some. The trade editions of Mister Slaughter, The Five, and The Providence Rider were all comparably priced with trade hardcovers from the major publishers. The price of I Travel by Night is high for a novella, but comparable in price to the other novellas Subterranean Press publishes. They have lower print runs, so the per-book printing cost is more....
That's at least part of it....

I am hoping he does use the characters again in a novel, everybody is dying for more.

In the new Sci-Fi Bulletin interview with Robert McCammon (link found on RobertMcCammon.com), he mentions that he has plans for at least two more Trevor Lawson novellas.....

you see what is annoying Charlene is Robert McCammon's books are impossible to buy in book shops in the UK (is this some publisher deal?)in my opinion he is better than the well knowns..King and Koontz (Koontz was good in his earlier books...but I gave up reading him...since he had that hair transplant!!) I can buy Robert McC's books on amazon and usually they are shipped from the US and nearly always take weeks to get here...but that's the ways it is?? It amazes me that an author so good does not have his books available in the UK...maybe Joe Hill can give some insight when I attend his book signing/and question and answer session here in Bristol in 2 weeks?

I do know that his horror books are generally pretty old at this point, being written back in the 80s. I don't know if that's why they're not generally available there now, but it's a thought.
Back when I discovered him (in the 80s), I was able to find most of his works at our local library. Is that an option for you?
McCammon would love to see his books available from a UK publisher again, just as he'd love to see paperback editions of his newer books. Unfortunately, no UK publisher has expressed an interest in publishing, just as no U.S. paperback publisher has expressed an interest. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.
I Travel by Night was specifically commissioned as a novella by Subterranean Press. They do a lot of novellas by the authors they publish. They enjoy them, and their customers apparently do, too. Unfortunately, the lower print-run for the hardcover also means the prices are steep for such short books. This one is actually a bargain at 150 pages. Some of their novellas are as short as 30 or 40 pages with similar prices.
So in this case, you have a novella that Amazon UK carries, but as a barely-discounted novella that's still cheaper than the list price for the book. It can be ordered from Amazon US, but shipping to the UK probably eats up much of the discount.
The good news is that McCammon does plan at least a couple more Trevor Lawson books down the road....

How psyched are you?
I'm very jealous, I have to say. :)
I'm reading NOS4A2 now and I'm really enjoying it.

What do you think is wrong with those UK publishers? It seems like anyone would be able to see that publishing McCammon is a winning proposition. :)
You would think!
I think the biggest problem, both in the U.S. and the UK, is that the publishing world has changed dramatically and those 10 years between books completely destroyed McCammon's name recognition. All of the people who published him way back when are long gone from the publishers, and the newer people say, "Robert who?" That's just a guess, but I think it's an accurate one.
His new books have garnered a lot of praise and attention, so hopefully they'll get a clue soon....

Yes, I forgot to mention that Subterranean Press only holds the North American ebook rights to the novels they've published; that's why they're not available in the UK. Again, a UK publisher (or other international publisher) needs to step up and acquire the UK (and/or international) rights.
But, of course, it's more complicated than that: you can't just sell the ebook rights to a publisher, because if any print publisher picked up the books, they would insist that the ebook rights be included....
It's an ugly mess.

here's the flyer Charlene....

I shall walk up from my work at close of day...Waterstones our local bookshop is close by and I will ask him at least one question during the talk...and prob get a pic taken...me and joe :) Would you believe that I can't buy his book until the day of the signing...the cynical amongst us might think this is a move by the publishers to get the full price :))

I actually won a copy of this one from here at Goodreads. I am reading it now and I have to say that so far, it's excellent. It's a fat, juicy type of book and the characters are fascinating so far.
I'm SO envious of you! I hope you can post the picture here if you do get one. Have a GREAT time!! :)

We don't get many horror author appearance here in the UK and to have Joe Hill is just fantastic...I was first to buy a ticket, I enjoyed heart shaped box but I thought Horns was fantastic and the hardback cover was an amazing and thinking work of art...I can't wait to get my hands on Nos4R2 and to get it signed...If I manage to snap a pic I will of course post on the forum :)
