I've always wanted to write a book entitled "Made in Japan" ... about the year I spent there at a time in my life when I was forming many (mature) ideas/thoughts about the world around me ... and my place in it. This may sound boring, but it would actually be quite humorous due to the cultural differences between Japan and the U.S.

I recently read Pico Iyer's The Lady and the Monk: Four Seasons in Kyoto. It was fascinating and full of some really interesting cultural insights - not to mention a good love story.
Some of the best stories sound "boring" in description but are great reads...not that your idea sounds boring to me. Cultural differences can not only be humorous, but also important to understand as well.

It actually wouldn't be terribly hard to put your recipes and pictures into a book and self-publish it. A little work in InDesign and you could have something really nice and professional looking available on Amazon for friends, family, and libraries to buy. I say, "go for it"!

I have read that book, as well. I especially liked the character "Sachiko."
I write a book a day... in my head that is. If I am doing a menial task, my mind wanders to all the great ideas I have for "a great book," but I never write them down, and I probably will never get to it.
