Barely anything can compete with Plath's extremely clever cynicism, but a work that immediately comes to mind is Dostoevsky's "Notes from Underground".
You might want to read writers that she admired, worked with, or was directly influenced by--Lowell, Auden, Sexton, and Hughes would all be good places to start.
