me some books that can keep up with Plath's fascinating writing?

Barely anything can compete with Plath's extremely clever cynicism, but a work that immediately comes to mind is Dostoevsky's "Notes from Underground".

You might want to read writers that she admired, worked with, or was directly influenced by--Lowell, Auden, Sexton, and Hughes would all be good places to start.

Read Rough Magic by Paul Alexander. It covers her reading / writing inspirations author by author as she moves through her career.
