Well there was a woman author I read one time, she love writing about Philippine "voodoos, manananggal and aswang" I don't remember her name though. (sorry)
The last book I read that was set in Manila was The Blue Afternoon by William Boyd but that was about two years ago. :)
Found this in North Carolina of all places thirteen years ago. Brit writer who lived in Tiwarik Island. Very lyrical prose. Re-reading this year.
i know this doesn't count but Tom Clancy mentions Philippine aspects in his novels, like one primary character's cook is a Filipino, or one character has been stationed in Bataani'll try to reread the Jack Ryan novels
