We should link to some good reviews we've read before to share with other group members. So it would be like an archive of reviews to see before, during, and after reading Gormenghast. You can link to your own reviews as well.

I initially found Titus Groan through Keely's review (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...), but my interest was further stimulated with Jonathan's (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...) and Kyle's (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...)

Also, I don't believe this reviewer is a group member yet, but Megha's review is worth taking a look at: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Mosca | 1 comments Thank you, Folks for this Group.

My life's great achievement is that I have all three retrieved for free from the local Public Library paperback giveaway box.

I've only read read Titus Groan completely; but am about halfway done with Gormenghast.

So, from about a half a year ago, here's my

Titus Groan Review

And I do know that a number of members/moderators also have nice reviews. (Hey there, Kyle). And I'm hoping to see them posted here..:)

Oh that little thing? That's really less of a review, and more of me just shamelessly gushing over Peake, but I thank you for the shout-out. :)

So glad you're here, Mosca!

Gushing certainly stimulates my interest, especially when it comes from people named Kyle. ;D

Hey, nice review there!

Cecily | 166 comments I agree with all Jocelyn's recommendations.

My own Gormenghast reviews are:

The Illustrated Gormenghast Trilogy: I've done a brief overview and listed my favourite quotes and linked to the reviews of the three component books:
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Titus Groan:
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Gormenghast:
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Titus Alone:
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Boy in Darkness (a short story about Titus that fits between Gormenghast and Titus Alone):
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Titus Awakes (written by Peake's widow from a page of his notes, more as personal catharsis than any plans to publish):
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I'm not normally one for biographies, but in Peake's case, knowing something of his childhood in China, his training and career as an illustrator and art teacher, his family, and his horrific and prolonged illness is very insightful:

Mervyn Peake's Vast Alchemies (imo, the best one for explaining parallels between his life and works, especially Gormenghast):
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

A World Away (memoirs by his widow):
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Under a Canvas Sky (memoirs by his daughter):
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

A Child of Bliss (memoirs by his son):
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Mervyn Peak, The Man and his Art:

And a miscellany:
Peake's Progress, Selected Writings and Drawings:

Fatin (fatinnawaz) | 7 comments I just wrote a review for it: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Not a particularly good one because I can't seem to phrase anything right at the moment, but nonetheless.

Leonardo (a_blazing_world) | 5 comments I wrote a brief review of Boy in Darkness three years ago. I'm really looking forward to start re-reading the Gormenghast novels next week.

midnightfaerie Thank you Cecily! And thanks for the invite to this group! I can't remember if it was you or Jonathan, but I had never heard of Peake until the invite. I'm so glad I decided to take the time out from my book reviewing to read this!

Cecily | 166 comments I had a Peakish Christmas, as a result of which I've reviewed some new books, though Gormenghast doesn't feature much or directly, except in "Writings and Drawings":
