✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ Darby blinked. It was so beautiful up here in the mountains with the sun shining high above her in a sky so blue she wondered if there was a word to do it justice. She really needed to start coming up here more often, and she would if wasn't for the whole climbing up here thing. It wasn't exactly a field trip hiking alone, but it was worth it, at least she thought so as she looked down at the scene below. It was pretty much all green as far as she could see, but she could see a meadow where a stream cut right through it, leading to a bigger body of water that looked like a lake, but looked smaller than a lake. Well everything looked small from where she was standing, which made her laugh a little under her breath.

Uncapping her water bottle, she brought it to her lips and took a nice long drink from it before setting it on the ground. There wasn't anything important she needed to do today, so might as well enjoy the scene while she still could. So Darby sat down on the ledge of the cliff, feeling a slight rush since it was a pretty long drop down incase she leaned forward a little too far. Now Darby wasn't suicidal but she tended to think about the extremes, and hardly ever about her safety. No matter, she knew better than to do something stupid while she was up there.

Aaron liked to take small, joyous walks out into the quite nice scenery Vail had to offer. He had no problem reading at home or in the cafe,he just needed an adjustment of surroundings once in a while. He liked the mountains,he'd been there a few times, and it was very calm and serene. He liked how you could hear everything, and you weren't surrounded by the ongoing sounds of cars honking or voices laughing and speaking. It was quiet, but also very loud in it's own way.He likes to listen to the small birds chirping, the wind rusting the leaves,or the small drops of water falling through the canopy of leaves. It was a busy place on it's own, just very different from down in the city.

As he walked up the trail that led to the open space he loved to go to,the one that looked over the edge of the mountains and you could see everything in the distance,he saw a girl. She was peering over the edge of the mountain, sitting rather close to the edge.He wouldn't have noticed her,he was rather clueless, but her reddish orange hair stood out.He smiled to himself slightly. So he wasn't the only one who liked it here.He decided to speak up" Don't fall off the edge.I hear it's not quite a nice trip down as it is up."He said, his voice deep and smooth though also very kind and sweet. He was joking of course, nobody that he knew of had fallen of the side of the cliff.

Melissa Riley padded around in the snow in her wolf form. It was nice to just walk around as a wolf and not have to be on patrol or anything.

Jamie had left the outpost very early that morning to go scouting alone. He loved going with the other Strikers, but this morning was quiet and Jamie didn't need a whole crew with him. He'd discovered that none of the packs patroled that early, so he would be safe to check things out eithout being attacked in the open.
He'd trekked all over the mountains, bravely going into every cave he came across, ready for a fight. But none came. No cross. No giant spiders. No wolves. The most frightening thing Jamie had seen all morning was an oversized rat who wasted no time scurrying away from him.

Nearly close to giving up, Jamie was on his way across a flat part of the mountain when he saw her- Riley. A wolf mulling around in the snow, alone. Jamie stopped and took cover behind a rock wall of sorts and took his leather whip in one hand, coiled up, and his best hunting knife in the other, looking for other forces. It wasn't often you saw one wolf without all the others- unless it was a trap. He redied himself, coming from behind his wall and stalking silently nearer to the wolf, his many features set. It's back was to him... For now.

Melissa Riley savored the cool air and froze. Her hackles rose. She shook her fur out to get it to flatten and tried to pretend that she hadn't smelt it. The faintest whiff of magic on the air that signaled a Searcher. She trotted towards a tree and pounced on the foolish squirrel which had scrambled down the trunk.

She had no idea where the Searcher was though they probably knew where she was. There was a reason they went on patrol in pairs. She surreptitiously scanned the area every so often and had to bite back a snarl when she continued to be unable to find them. The wind had changed and she could no longer smell them, leaving her at a huge disadvantage.

Jamie stepped ever so carefully, dodging behind nearby trees when the wolf's nose would swing sideways. She seemed to be searching for something, but Jamie didn't believe it was him. She was probably searching for her lunch.
His point was made when she suddenly threw herself forward on her powerful legs and caught an unexpecting squirrel who'd scampered from his post to see what the fuss was about. Animals seemed to sense the strange magic that came from Guardians, and Jamie believed the forest livers could sense his powers too, given from Earth itsself. He stepped very quietly across the mossy area, readying his whip to lash out.
But he didn't get the chance.
Suddenly, Jamie's quiet step across the glade was very loudly ended as he stepped on a branck hat had fallen. It snapped in two, disturbing the silence that rang through the clearing.
No more sneaky Jamie.

message 8: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Riley whipped around and cursed loudly in her head, she couldn't believe he had gotten behind her. She bounded forward and sprang towards him, snarling. She didn't think to question why he was there or if she should attack, she just did. It had been ingrained into her from birth that they were the bad guys.

She still had blood on her muzzle from the squirrel and a drop was flung off as she twisted in midair to avoid the weapon she hadn't realized he had.

Jamie was quick enough to make himself aware that she was going to attack as she swiveled around to see him. Guardians didn't beat around the bush and ask why you stumbled up to their land. At least- no Guardian he'd ever met did that. In a blur he saw her realize he was there, go into attack mode, and jump for him, no doubt aiming for the throat. That was easy. Take the throat, and they're done. No fighting at all. But Jamie knew his tactics too. Like this wolf, he'd been taught to fight since he was old enough to be able to say the word 'fight'.

He dropped to his knees and Riley sailed over him, splattering blood from her snack onto his face as she went. He didn't waste the time to wipe it off. Blood stoped scaring Jamie a long time ago. He rose from his knees and lashed out at her with his long whip, just as her feet hit the ground. He managed to get one good lash along her side, but the whip didn't grab hold of her like he'd aimed for. It fell away, and he yanked it back, readying himself for another strike- either from him or the wolf. "You missed me, darling." he said, his tone dark with humor.

message 10: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Riley snarled at the Searcher, her ears flat. How dare he be so cocky. She braced for another attack then whimpered, she was unable to put any weight on her injured leg. She backed away, not knowing if she would be able to win. She wasn't the strongest in her pack, nor was she the smartest. Her ears swivled as she tried to determine whether or not he was alone. If he wasn't she was definitely screwed, if he was she was still probably screwed.

She took another couple steps back and then leapt to the side and managed to avoid his attack. She dashed behind a rock, slower than usual with only three legs but still faster than most Guardians. She leapt on top of the rock and jumped, missing the whip as the Searcher tried hitting hitting her where he thought she would be rather than where she was. She had been aiming next to him rather than on top of him so his aim had been thrown off.

Riley lunged and her jaw snapped on his calf, her teeth making deep gouges in the muscle almost to the bone. She let go and skittered away before he could hit her but she still felt his whip crack on her hind leg. It wasn't as bad as the one on her foreleg but it still drew blood.

Jamie grinned as he saw the wolf take in his words, momentarily stunned by his voice he would guess. Then she snapped back into action. His whip had done the job, though, and she was holding her left hind leg up, refusing to walk on it. His grin grew into a smile from seeing her limp. She was obviously recalculating her approach, and Jamie could feel victory welling up inside of his chest, pounding along with his bloodstream and his adrinaline rush.

The wolf dodged his next whip blow and padded behind a large chunk of rock. He sighed and watched her jump atop it. Aeven though one leg was useless for her right now, she still lept with dead accuracy. He readied himself again, but was caught of guard as she threw herself at him from her higher point. He went to lash at her with his heavy whip ahain, but she had seen what he'd do.
The wolf didn't lunge for him, but rather, beside him, landing and turning from her middle to latch her long teeth onto his leg. He cried out in surprise and anger bursted into his soul.
As soon as she let him go, blood was staining his dark pants and pain shot through his leg with each step he took. He turned and jumped onto her, straddling her back and slamming his hands down on her snout, pinning her to the ground. His leg really freaking hurt.
He leaned down to whisper Fiercly in her ear, "Show me your human side, and nobody has to die today."

message 12: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Riley started shaking and did as he said, it wasn't in her nature to fight. She wasn't an alpha, there was no instinct to be in charge. She steeled herself as she lay beneath him in the snow in her human body. One arm still bleeding freely and one leg throbbing dully.

"Nobody has to die huh?" She said bitterly. She didn't believe for a second that he wouldn't kill her but defying him would only get her killed faster. Maybe if she could stall long enough he would let his guard down and she could make a run for it.

Jamie was surprised she obeyed. Most Guardians didn't obey anything or anyone besides the Keepers. But she seemed to be less of a threat than some of the Guardians he'd encountered. Was it her genes or pak that made her less? No... Jamie suddenly realized- she wasn't an Alpha. She didn't even seem like a Beta to him, but he'd not had much knowledge in identifying the ranks of the Guardians he fought by looking at them.

Her wolf form shivered below him, and suddenly she was a girl. Just a normal, dirty looking girl. He swiftly changed his sitting postition- still straddling her, but throwing his weight more to guard himself from her legs, and he moved his hands to pin both of her arms to the mossy ground, his weight baring down on her wrists with no mercy.
"No. I'm not going to kill you. I should, though." he told her, his face near hers. Thick scruff covered the bottom half of his face, and his deep green eyes stared at her with steel. "Here's what you're going to do. You're going to go back to your pack, and you're going to tell them about me- except, let's change our story a little. You bit me, I ran away and fled like the coward I am. You don't know where I went, and you don't know how I got off the mountain, because I, sadly, knocked you out."
He raised her hands above her head and held them both with one strong grip, still keeping her pinned down.
Fumbling with a knotch at his belt, he got another knife, it's handle heavy and the blade very skinny and very sharp. He handled it with a ease, waving it front of her nose.
"But before all that, you're going to tell me your name."

message 14: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Riley narrowed her eyes at him, "why would I do that?" She asked. She hated that she was at his mercy, that at any moment he could decide to plunge that knife he was waving in her face right into her heart. She knew she could easily break his hold on her, she was stronger than him even is she didn't look it. The only problem was that knife, which was most likely enchanted. She wasn't sure the whip was but she hoped not, it would make getting home really hard if her leg gave out.

Her heat was beating fast but she tried not to let it show. "Why would I tell them you got away but knocked me out? No one would believe that anyway." She said and smirked, "though you probably are a coward no one would believe a Searcher would just walk away from an unconscious Guardian."

Jamie laughed, actual humor spicing the sound as it raing through the otherwise quiet opening in the mountains. He tested the sharpness of his knife against her cheek, not cutting her, but pressing it slightly against her soft skin to let her know how sharp it really was.
Her assumtions were correct. Every weapon Jamie carried was enchanted. The knives with heavy spells that really did damage, but the whip was only charmed with a spell that made the wound take longer to heal, since Guardians healed exeptionally fast.

"Why would you do that, sweetheart?" he asked before she went on, raising a bushy eyebrow. He smiled and shook his head. "You're right." he said. Her bitter words made him think of something he'd never thought of before. "I would never walk away from a sleeping dog. So, I suppose you can come with me, then." he said, taking a bit of enchanted rope from his pocket, and beginning to twine her wrists together...

((She can escape and we can rp sometime else, or she could come with him, and we could continue our rp! Your choice! :) ))

Melissa (No she can go with, it'll be interesting)

Riley felt the smirk fall right off her face and she swallowed, panic starting to set in as her wrists were bound. She tried frantically to get her hands free, wriggling around under him as she did. She cursed in her head, deciding to keep her big mouth shut. The ropes must be enchanted. She thought belatedly.

She reigned in her panic and settled down. Her instincts were still running wild but she shoved them into a corner of her mind, if she went wild now he would only kill her and then she would be of no use to the Keepers and it would break her brother's heart. She would stay alive for as long as she could if only for Neil. (Neil is her brother)

((Yes, it will. :) ))

Jamie efficiently tied her wrists, snapping the twine with ease, even though he knew she couldn't. He tied everything back into his belt, save the scary knife. He held the blade between his teeth as he raised from pinning her down. He stood, and helped her stand too, although not gently. He knew he'd managed to hurt her, but he was bitter for the injuries she'd landed on him too.
Jerking her up, he brought her arms to her back and grabbed his knife from his mouth again, gripping it with the hand that wasn't guiding her.
"Oh! And, before I forget..." He said.

Leaning over her, he tore a piece from the very bottom of her shirt, wrapping it around her eyes and securing it at the back of her head. "Now, we're on our merry way."

((You can post at the outpost house now. <3 ))

Melissa (Which thread am I supposed to post on?)

Riley's lips curled up in a snarl. "Congrats, you've tied up and blindfolded a 16 year old girl. You must be so proud of yourself." She said sarcastically. She was limping and wished she had never gone to the mountains alone, though she supposed that someone would notice she was gone eventually. Neil at the very least would be worried when she didn't come home tonight. But what anyone could to do help was up in the air, no one knew where the Searchers were based and she didn't even know if that's where they were headed.

"By the way I hope you're aware that blindfolding me really isn't going to affect my orientation at all." She said snarkily.

Jamie laughed again, still with true humor and happiness in his voice. The well-peppered words of a teenage girl were nothing to him, but they were funny. He pulled the ropes on her wrists just a bit tighter. He could play at that game. "Please. You're not cute enough for that." he said, smiling.
"And, being blindfolded doesn't affect that, I know... But, where we're going, you're mumbo jumbo voodoo doesn't stand a chance."

A fellow Searcher held a portal open for them, and he nodded to her. No words needed to be spoken. It would comprimise everything. They passed through the portal and he excpected the wolf to feel it in her stomach. Trusting she'd never seen one before, he didn't figure she'd realize he'd just made her cross miles in one step. "Loose your 'tude, and maybe we'll be nice to you." he said, stepping up to the house.

((Searcher Outpost > House. :) ))
