I have never ever read vampire book. I'm wondering if this should be my first? I do not want to read twilight. I like the movies but seems to cheese for me. I'm not much into romantic books.

Most vampire books are stemy PNRs. Immortal rules reads more like a dysopian or urban fantasy. There is a little YA romance but it def doesn't steal the show.

That sounds great. I think I'll give it a try. I don't mind a little romance as long as it is not the main theme. :)

Not at all. The story is about Allie surviving in the world anyway she can and an internal struggle that is always pushing and pulling her.

message 16: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Gilmore I finished reading Dawn (Xenogenesis, #1) by Octavia E. Butler . I liked it well enough, but I don't feel as I need to devour every book in this series. At least not right now. So I'm starting The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1) by Julie Kagawa .

Michelle Gilmore Unfortunately, between school and starting a new job, I fell behind on my reading. I plan to finish The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1) by Julie Kagawa this weekend. Depending on how that goes, I'll either start the second book in that series, or move on to Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins .

Chris Ward (chriswardfictionwriter) | 77 comments I recently read a kind of sci-fi dystopian book called Inverted World by Christopher Priest. It's a recognized genre classic and rightfully so. I thought it was excellent. Probably the best twist ending I've ever read.

I love forever war. I got it out of a drawer with the hope to re-read it soon. Forever peace is not worth it though. I think this is a good standalone book.
