Training Ground

Jamie had been spending all morning outside, tromping through the woods at a slow pace. Dragging himself through the thick brush and jumping over fallen trees had become slightly of stress relieving as he made his way to the hidden training grounds. It truly was amazing how well they'd hidden the thing- he'd almost given up finding the place. But alas, he arrived. For hours he'd been ripping shiny swords through hay dummies, and curling whips around toy wolves necks. That relieved even more stress, and Jamie really needed that. With all the things he'd been having to do lately, bringing more and more work onto himself, what he really needed was a good time. He was nearly ready to rush out into town himself and take down some Guardians alone, but he wasn't nearly as reckless as that. He needed fun, not injuries.
As he rushed through another practice dummy, shashing another gash through its stomach, he turned on his heel sharply, seeing a head a raven black hair at the other end of the training feild. "Who are you?" he asked, swinging his sword so that it pointed her way. His shirt was sticking to him, and his hair and beard were slightly askew, and he wished he looked better in the presence of such a beautiful girl, but he knew that if you trained right, you didn't look cute at the end. Besides, this chick might be a threat.

((If this is a place, you need to capitalize "Ground". Proper grammar is good.))Lilith had just been walking through the woods by herself, not really know where she was going. She had totally forgotten about the training ground located near by. She stopped when she heard the footsteps and the sticks breaking underneath the persons feet. She watched as the man walked by, totally unaware of her hiding in a tree above him. She watched him walk towards the training grounds. Lilith had never seen this guy before, so she pursued. Like an acrobat she jumped from tree to tree following him. A while later they had made it to the grounds.
Lilith watched the man for a while. He trained hard. She watched him tear apart the dummies for a while. Then her devious side took over and she decided she would have some fun. She jumped down from her tree and hit the ground almost silently. She drew her rifle and aimed its sights at the dummy by him. He slashed through another and he turned sharply on his heel. She saw that he had spotted her. From their encounter in the woods Lilith had a nagging feeling she knew this man. Now she knew she did for sure. He spoke, his tone harsh, but not off-putting. His clothes were sticking to him and his hair was askew. This was exactly who she thought it was. Jamie. She smirked, and fired.
"Hello sweetie."
Jamie squinted through his thick lashes at the woman, admiring the grace she held her small gun with. He didn't, however, like the way she pointed it so near him. She stood with confidence and Jamie admired her body for a moment before steering his mind back to the point. She was pointing a gun at him. And he had a sword. Not good, really. A fear of loosing his life slowly crept over him, until he realized who she was. Lilith. He'd met her before, and although they hadn't been together long, they'd certainly come to know each other quite well. She'd cut her hair. Wow.
He smiled as she pulled the trigger, confident that he wouldn't die then. The bullet flew past his broad chest and hit the dummy behind him. He turned to see the dummy torn apart and grinned, turning again to stalk to her. "Hello, Lilith. Where'd you come from this time?" He asked, reaching for her hand to twirl her in a familiar circle, appraising her looks fondly.
"You've changed a bit," he said, grinning handsomely at her.

Lilith laughed as his body seemed to tense in the moments leading to her fire. Then he relaxed a bit when he finally realized it was her. She lowered her gun. He didn't look a bit different then the day she left. He still had that manly beard and all that hair. It wasn't a look she enjoyed seeing on guys, but it worked for him. He had this hard, brooding exterior. But she knew better. She knew that he was really this big protective teddy bear. She let him take her hand a spin her around. It was a lovely thing he did a while back when he, though he never would admit it, fancied her. She crushed his dreams when he, again never would he admit it, saw her entangled with another woman. She was willing to let him watch, she didn't care. But she knew he was to "gentleman-like" to do anything like that. Oh well, it was still a good night for her.
Anyway, she spun around for him and then, using her tip-toes, kissed him on the cheek. "Oh you know, from here and there. There was especially fun." She said with a devilish smirk. She fumbled with her hair, "You like? I just had it done." She said.
"Though I see you haven't changed, Teddy." She said, looking him up and down. She punched him in the gut. The lifted his shirt. "Yup. You've still got it." She said, her smile devilish and playful as she looked him in the eyes.
"So what brings you out here at a time like this?" She asked him, placing one of her hands on her hip.
Jamie went back through his memories of Lilith, refusing to blush at a few of them, even though they were worthy of it. He and Lilith had a checkered past, both of them having their ups and downs, and those of what they held together were definitely worth blushing for. He had been head over heels for her years back, in his teens, and she was the first lady he'd seen without a shirt- her and her lady friend...
Jamie cleared the thoughts away from his mind, along with the fact that he'd never told anyone that that day had given the seventeen year old him nightmares for a week.
He grinned as she lifted herself up and kissed his cheek softly, like she always had. Yes, she'd changed, but nothing else had. He kissed her forehead in return like he always had before, and took a few steps back in respect as she talked. "I see," he said, crossing his arms across his broad chest. Nodding in response to her question, he nodded. "It looks good on you. I still like the waves you had before, though," he said, half-grinning.
Jamie laughed as she came foreward, calling him Teddy. Just like always. It was nice to hear. When she punched him, he didn't even flinch, although she was strong enough to deserve it. "I've got it better now," he said confidently, smiling down at her as she lifted his sweaty shirt, revealing tanned, rock hard abs.
He sighed at her question and motioned for her to follow. "Come inside, and eat lunch with me. We can chat then," he said, going to the mini-house in the back of the training area. It had a living room and small kitchen and a little bedroom in the back for anyone who might need it. Jamie was sure there would be some sort of food in the fridge. As Lilith followed him he raised his arms over his head, dragging his shirt up and off of him, ready to get a fresh one from the bedroom. Once they were inside, Jamie felt the cool airconditioning and sighed happily. "Here for missions or pleasure?"

Lilith smirked as he kissed her forehead. He was taller than her, which made it easy for him to kiss her forehead. She grinned, "Thank you. And I'm sure they weren't the only waves on me you liked." She said, her smile devilish as she looked up at him with her big green eyes. "Oh I'm sure you've gotten better. And bigger." She said, making another sexual innuendo at him. "I mean your muscles are practically bulging." She said, looking down. She laughed and looked up. She knew how to make him blush. With many sexual innuendos. She loved it. "No no no big boy!" She said, dragging him back outside to the training yard. "You came out here to train. So lets train." She said with a smirk. She was strong, and he knew it. So she was he. She loved fighting him, and she wasn't going to miss this opportunity. Once they were back in the outdoors she let go of him and bound to the other side, doing a little cart-wheel for show. "Come on Teddy, show mamma what you are made of!" She said, dropping her rifle. "You may need this." She said, kicking his sword up into her hands. "Or something a little bigger." She said smiling, throwing it at him. "Catch Teddy!"
She laughed and withdrew her small black scythes. She was ready for a fight. And she hoped he was too. She spun them in the air, letting the chains take hold. She dropped them to the ground, pulled, and they flew back to her hands. Good, they work.
"And GO!" She yelled, throwing a scythe at him directly.
Jamie licked his lips at her smirk, remembering all too well of how it used to make him weak in the knees. He really used to have it bad for her when he was a kid. Now that he was older, and knew there was no way she could possibly feel the same, he was able to stand straight as her pretty eyes sparkled up at him... Barely. He shook his head and grinned. This time, though, the faint pink blush in his cheeks found it's way out from his traps. And the best part was, Lilith knew she could do that to him. She knew that she was one of the very few people that could bust through his oh-so manly exterior and make him giggle like a little girl. It was embarrassing, really.
But what could he say?
Jamie decided not to comment any further on her frisky sayings though, and headed inside. But, much to his dismay, he wasn't there long. Lilith grabbed his hand and dragged him out of the nice indoors, challenging him to fight and keeping his growling stomach away from food for that much longer. Jamie sighed again, but he grinned all the same, walking back out into the training field, his shirt left forgotten in the house.
Lilith rambled about and he smiled in return, watching her lift his sword and throw it his way. He twisted and caught the hilt, managing to not cut himself on the overly-sharp blade. Lilith didn't give him much more time to prepare though, and before he knew it, her shiny scythe were flying toward his bare chest almost too fast for him to see.
Jamie twisted his muscled body downward and ducked below them, charging forward as he straightened up, grinning in the fight. He and Lilith always had a way of effortlessly dancing in battle, always giving their all, but never really hurting each other- as if he would ever hurt her. "You talk too much, Lil," He said, twisting his blade to clash against her weapon.

Lilith watched the blood rush to his cheeks. She loved making him blush and act all flustered. She knew how to do it, and she definitely used it to her advantage. When they were younger, she could make him weak in the knees. That was before he saw Lily and...well whatever her name was...having a fun time in her tent. Of course, that didn't change their relationship. They still flirted and were everything they always were. Over the years they hadn't been with each other in a while, but everything was the same. She loved the comfort that gave her. No matter how long she disappeared for, he would always be here for her. Unchanged. Her best friend. Lily smirked when he easily dodged her scythes. She watched him duck below them and come running at her, his silly smile on his cute face. Lilith loved it when they fought. They had been doing this for years. Fighting just for the fun of it. It made her blood hot and her heart pump. Just what she needed.
He came at her quickly ready to strike her. He always thought he would catch her when her weapons were gone. He seemed to forget that they returned to her. She moved her slender body away from his sword and closed the distance between them. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. She stopped and looked at him with a smile. "You always forget sweetie," she started in a soft voice, "they come back!" She said, placing both her feet on his chest and kicking herself off of him, bidding her scythes to return to her. She knew that he could easily block the scythes that were now flying at him from behind. Though if he couldn't, she would stop him. No need to behead her best friend to day. She wanted to keep him around for a little while longer. She landed on her feet and in a small crouch. She looked at him and smirked.
Jamie had already stirred himself up enough from training before that he was ready to attack, fast enough to easily keep up with Lilith. They exchanged happy glances and joyful laughs as their blades clashed and flew through the air, threatening to strike. Jamie thought it was funny though, as easily as Lilith could probably kill him, he didn't feel threatened at all. He was having fun. It was what he needed. He smiled, knowing that this was what it would always be between them- effortless amazingness. And maybe Jamie loved that too much. It was still good, though.
Jamie watched his lovely opponent with skill, making sure that her dangerous scythes didn't cut any part of him. Lilith liked to go for the cut and the head. Maybe they spilled the most blood, he didn't know, but that was just how she fought. He grinned and watched her twirl, her black hair flying away from her face as she neared him. He expected the hug, but the kiss, he wasn't ready for. Her lips met his and for a moment he was shocked, feeling her soft lips on his own. He wondered what she would think of the beard- last time he'd dared to kiss her, he'd been to young to grow one.
But she was there, and then she was gone, pushing him back. He stood, looking at her in surprise until he realized she was still fighting. He was ready to put down his sword but Lilith was still rockin'. He stood completely still, refusing to fight the blades that he knew were about to come for his head from behind him. Lilith gave though, and they never made contact with his shaggy head. She crouched down, reminding Jamie of a cat, and he walked to her, sitting down on the dusty ground beside her. "Now can I eat?" He asked, grinning.

Lilith liked fighting Jamie just after he had trained. He was better and more full of life. Their fight was an easy one full of smiles and life. Never was a drop of blood spilled between the two of them. As deadly as they fought at each other, neither of them got hurt. It was due to the fact that they had trained together for years, and were always at the same level. It made their fights more fun. One always trying to top the other one. It always ended in a stalemate. Lilith knew all of Jamie's moves. He rushed, and went for the chest, then he slashed and stabbed at his opponent quickly, but never wildly. He knew exactly what he was doing. He seemed to fight wildly, but he knew every bit what he was doing. It would seem easy to take him down, but it wasn't. He was fast and agile for his size. A master with his blade he could kill you before you had time to get a scratch on him. It was his style. Lilith liked to kill quickly. She didn't want to go through all the fuss. She was quick, and agile as well, and fought dirty. With her hand crafted weapons, she was deadly. She went for major veins and the weak points on an enemy. A quick and easy kill was fun without the fuss.
She plopped her butt to the ground and her scythes retracted back to her. She holstered them. Without a word she kept her head down. She looked up at him and smiled. Quickly she tackled him and landed on top of him. She straddled him. She leaned down near his face, "Only if you admit I am the best, and sexiest, Reaper of all time. And I could kick anybodies ass." She said, poking his nose. "And on a side note, your beard tickled me." She said, laughing. "But I liked it." She said with a wink.
Jamie stifled a yawn, not wanting Lilith to think him weak for training so hard. He wasn't weak. Lilith looked at him like he was the Sun and he had a feeling that he looked at her the same way, and for all their flirting and checkered pasts, they'd never crossed over from friendship. Jamie thought it was a good thing now, even though it had crushed him so long ago. Lilith definitely wasn't for him... Since she didn't really go for his type. At all.
He smiled and pushed the thoughts aside- he and Lilith were perfect. Best friends. And that was all he wanted these days. Even though kissing her was amazing.
Some chick was really lucky.
As he sat beside her he drew the tip of his sword through the dirt on the ground, carving a circle out of the earth, just for something to do. He was like that- he always had to be busy, no matter what. He looked up at Lilith, but she was upon him before he could even blink. Her light weight settled on him as his sword went clattering beside him and he went down to the ground, looking up at her smirking face. He raised both eyebrows in surprise at her move, as her face came near, her hair falling to frame it adorably. "Ugh! Fine... You are the most sexiest, best Reaper in all of time. You little sneak," he said, placing both of his hands on her waist and smiling as she finished speaking. He laughed freely as she spoke of his beard. He ran one hand through it slowly. "I like it too," he said, flipping her suddenly, so she was the one under him.
He held his weight carefully, and he smiled down at her, leaning over to kiss her forehead once more. "Food, Lil. Now." he told her, standing up to go back inside.

Lilith studied Jamie's face. She loved that face. He was her best friend. It was something she would never jeopardize ever. Once she did have a thing for him. But it was stifled by her attraction to women. It was a good thing to. It may have ruined their amazing friendship. She loved him with all her heart. But her love was that of a friendship. He loved her too. She knew it. Sometimes she wished she could be in love with him. Sometimes. His lips were really soft. She liked that. Some girl was really lucky.
Lilith grinned when he gave in. She giggled and poked his nose again. "Thank you Teddy." She said sweetly, kissing his cheek. She hadn't notice his hands move to her waist. She was too busy laughing at his comment about his beard. Suddenly she was on her back and he was on top of her. She bit her lip seductively. She quickly wrapped both her legs around him and both her arms. She laughed and said, "Got you Teddy!"
She laughed harder as he stood up easily. She clung to him tighter as he walked back inside. "I will not give up! I will never ever let you go!" She said through her laugh. He still walked easily. She bit his neck. "I will be victorious!" She said again, her laugh getting harder.
Jamie felt like a seventeen year old again, sitting on the dusty ground, sharing happy glances with Lilith, just like they used to do with each other. It was really time to eat, honestly. Being seventeen was tough. He didn't need to do it twice.
Finally grinning and getting up to move inside, out of the heat, he laughed happily as Lilith wrapped her slender body around his. He rose with no problem, her weight being a small feat for him. He tromped along the ground smiling, hearing Lilith giggle and yell out victorious screams. He decided to have a bit of fun, walking through the kitchen to the small bedroom at the back of the little house, enjoying the feel of the cool air on him and he slung Lilith down on the bed, towering over her with a silly grin on his face. Without hesitation, he reached his hands out, tickling her without mercy, laughing just as much as she was. "What about this, huh? Are you winnin' now, Lil?" He asked, smiling brightly down at her.

Lilith was laughing incredibly hard as they walked inside the air conditioned rooms. She squeezed tighter, "I will have you, Teddy!" she said, laughing harder. He threw her down on the bed and she looked up at him. She knew exactly what he was gonna do. He was going to tickle her. He knew that she hated it, and always used it against her. It was the only way he knew how to beat her, she thought. She gave him a look. It was her signature, 'don't you dare' look. But he did it anyway. The horrid sensation of being tickled ravished her. She fought against him, but he was to strong, and her laughter was holding her down. "Okay, okay!!" She finally got out. "I give!! I give!! " She yelled, laughing harder. Then she pulled out her surprise move.
She wrapped her legs around his waist tighter and pushed hard. Using his own body as leverage she managed to get him down on the bed, and her on top.
"Not." She said with a devilish grin. Then, her stomach growled. She was starving. All the playing her and Jamie had done had really given her an appetite. She patted her stomach. "This will have to wait, Teddy. This girl needs food." She said, hopping off of him. She started off back to the kitchen, ripping her shirt off on the way. She was hot from all the rough-housing.
She bent over inside the fridge, looking for something to cook. She found a fresh carton of eggs and some bacon. She pulled them out of the fridge and held them up to Jamie, "I'ma cook you a meeeeean breakfast darlin'!" She said with a giggle. She lit the stove and started cooking the eggs and bacon. She scrambled, the eggs, as she and her friend liked. Once everything was done, she split the large serving of eggs and bacon between the two of them. She brought Jamie his plate at the table. "Its food!" She said with a cheerful smile. She went back to the fridge and pulled out some orange juice. She poured two glasses and brought them also to the table. Lilith took her seat across from him on the table. She looked up at him and winked. "Enjoy." she said, as she always did when she made him breakfast. For some reason, for as long as she could remember, she worried he wouldn't like her cooking. He always did. Even if he was lying, he still showed appreciation none the less. She loved that about him.
She ate and pondered what she would do next. She wanted to stay with Jamie, but she was on a mission. She had things to do. If Jamie got in the way...he could get really hurt. Though he is a striker, it would be to much. She couldn't ask him to come. But...the mission. She took a sip of orange juice and swore if she could save him, she would. "He is a important piece to this puzzle, Lilith. Get him, make him come, do whatever you have to to see this mission is completed and completed right. Now." She heard this voice in her head of the mysterious man her gave her this mission. She had to obey. She sat her juice down with a sigh. She hated herself for what she had to do. In the end, she only hoped he understood.
Jamie was having incredible fun. More he'd had in what seemed like years. Lilith brought that out in him- the carefree, laughing version of himself that the fighter side ignored. Lilith made him forget his cares of ripping out Guardian throats and protecting his own. He was just one guy. Just trying to live. And with Lilith, he was able to have a little fun while doing it.
He laughed harder as he heard her giggles, knowing that she wasn't faking them at all. Tickling was the one thing she couldn't handle, and he was strong enough to hold her down... For a little bit. Suddenly, Jamie wasn't on his feet anymore, and instead, he was tossed into the bed, slammed down on the soft matress where Lilith landed atop him, pinning his arms above his head. He was shirtless and breathing hard, and he couldn't decide if he wished it was for a different reason or not.
He smiled and calmed down slightly, quieting his manic laughing to see her wicked grin- he ws entranced, as much as he hated it. Lilith was just as beautiful now as she was then, if not more. It was amazing how gorgeous of a woman she'd turned into. Her eyes sparkled like glasses of sparkling wine and her hair framed her face, giving her a wishingly innocent look.
Jamie had to look up at her and admire, just for a split second. The next he was pushing it all away from his mind, locking the thoughts out. He nodded in agreement with Lilith's words and rose with her from the bed, shutting the bedroom's door behind them as they moved through the house.
Jamie was a bit surprised when Lilith took her shirt off, stretching the fabric over her head, flaunting every curve and muscle of her sides and back as he moved behind her. He refused to blush at the image, and as much as it killed him to, he looked away, watching his feet. 'She doesn't roll your way, man.' he told himself.
He was able to keep his eyes on other things (mostly) as Lilith cooked, moving about the kitchen as if she'd been there a thousand times before. She cooked breakfast wuickly and expertly, having two plates of delicious looking food on the table in no time. She sat and Jamie grinned at her from across the table, biting into his bacon happily once she'd sat their glasses down. "Thank you very much. It's been years since someone's cooked anything for me!" he said, winking back at her. "Ahh... And it's amazing." he said with a smile.
Jamie ate in silence for a moment, sipping on his juice and biting into his food eagerly. It truly was the best meal he'd had in ages, considering all he knew how to cook was mac and cheese and roman noodles. His eyes met Lilith's when she sighed, and a crease formed between his brows. "Is something wrong, Lil?" he asked, reaching across the table for her free hand.

Lily smiled with delight as he complimented her cooking. He was such a sweetie. He was always so kind to her and loving. She hasn't done anything to deserve the kind of love Jamie gave her. They had been through a lot. All kinds of things. Since they were small even. She thought she would actually marry Jamie. Though, her wild attraction to women stifled that. He was like her knight. He was always there for her. He would do anything for her. In her head she couldn't help cataloging the things he'd done. How heroic he had been with her and all the things she loved. If she followed orders, he'd get hurt, badly. If she didn't, they would both be dead. She had to do what was best, even if he got hurt. "It's for the greater good, Lily. It's going to be alright." She told herself. Unfortunately, her plan would be put into action soon...Lily met Jamie's eyes. "Thank you Jamie. I hone my skills just for you." She said with a worked smile. She didn't really want to smile, but if he found out before...things would not be good for Lily. Or him.
She cast her eyes down for a second. She fought back tears. She didn't like this. Not one bit. But...still. The deed was done.
"Oh, nothing, Teddy." She lied. She looked down at his hand that was covering hers. "Oh Jamie," she started as the tears started to fall, "I am so sorry." She said, now sobbing. "I-I-I" She stuttered, trying to find the words. "I poisoned your food. You are going to pass out. I promise, you'll be okay. Oh Jamie, I'm so sorry." She said, crying harder. She looked at her friend with watery eyes, hating herself. She stood and went to his side. She slid the needle from her pocket. "And this is so you don't wake up." She said softly, stabbing the needle into his leg and injecting the drugs into him. She kissed his cheek softly and stroked his hair.
Jamie ate slowly as Lilith talked. She was so good at faking smiles and shrugging things off, but he could tell something was wrong. Something was off about her. And he would find out what it was even if he had to bug her all day long. His plate was nearly finished, and an odd sense of drearyness creeped over him, although he ignored it completely. Lilith took top priority. He'd deal with a swimmy head later. He watched her closely, chewing his eggs with a gentle grin on his lips. Lilith wouldn't need bugging- she was going to spill, Jamie could tell.
Since patience was one of Jamie's best qualities, he waited silently. And as he reached across the table for Lilith's hand, stroking her soft skin with his thumb, he watched compassionately as she started crying, nearly rising from the table to comfort her. But her words kept him in his seat. He stared in disbelief, knowing in his gut that she wasn't kidding. He searched her face without speaking for a moment, making sure he heard her correctly. Finally he nodded, knowing that sometimes, a Searcher's life was not their own. Lilith wouldn't do this on her own free will... There had to be someone pulling strings. He watched her rise and come to him. He pulled her down into his lap, kissing her collarbone warmly- he figured if he was going to go out, he'd do it with a bang. He heard Lilith's words distantly, feeling the poison take over his system. Dadgum. It was strong stuff. Jamie felt the needle sink into his leg and Lilith's slender fingers pull through his hair, and he was gone, floating away quickly and gently, as if he was simply going to sleep. The last thing he seemed to think was why?
