I'd like to suggest A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth C. Bunce. It's a new twist on Rumplestiltskin.

(Probably my least favorite title by one of my favorite authors. Good read, but much slower paced than her other novels. I'll let ya'll be the judge.) :O)

The description compares it to The Princess Bride and The Last Unicorn, 2 wonderful fantasy stories. If we have a group read, and Birds is chosen, then I would just have to buy it:)
There is some great suggestions so far. We'll put up a poll at the end of the week. Please feel free to submit any suggestions you want until then - just justify why they fit the theme. Keep in mind, you can be as creative as you want in your justification.
THANKS for all the suggestions so far!

how about Inkheart Inkheart Book 1 by Cornelia Funke ok i am going to fill in y i think this book fits this theme.. its a modern day Fantasy fairly tale. i found a summary to describe the book..
Inkheart an enchanting fantasy tale about a girl called Meggie. Meggie is a girl the age of twelve who lives in Italy with her father, Mortimer, but Meggie has always called him Mo. Mo is a bookbinder who loves books and so does Meggie, although unlike most fathers he has never read out loud to her since her mother "left".When Meggie can't sleep she lays down with a book and reads by candlelight, even though Mo has told her many times not to, when she is sad she reads, and when she has nightmares she runs to mo's room and reads, nothing allows her to fall asleep better than a book and the sound of Mo's soft breathing. At night she falls asleep with a book under her pillow and swears that sometimes she can hear it whispering to her. Mo has always told Meggie the truth about everything or so Meggie thinks.
i haven't seen the movie yet.. i am waiting to read the book first because i know it will be better in the long run. :)

Also, Daughter of the Flames has some fairy tale background I believe. Or at least the plot seems very much like one.

CUTE!
Yup - you can do more then one. As the group gets bigger we might limit that but we're tiny now so the more the merrier.

Laurell K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry series also deals with the Fae.
Karen Marie Moning's - Dark Fever, Blood Fever & Fae Fever are also Fae related.
Rachel Caine's - Undone is Fae related too. :)
Hey Judi -
Do you want to recommend all of those for the Fairy Tale theme group read? It's okay if you do I just want to make sure before I add them to the list.

There are several books tied for the lead. Feel free to switch your votes, especially if you're the only one voting for the book :)
If we're still have such a close race by, let's say Wednesday morning, I'll create a new poll with only the top 4. There were just too many good books nominated!

As of right now we have a tie between Darkfever & Wicked Lovely. Nothing else is really close. Instead of posting a 2nd poll we'll let this one go until the end of the week and see how it works itself out.

Find books that are based on a fairy tale or nursery rhyme, or are re-tellings of old fairy tales, anything that you can make fit. There is no way Stephanie & I plan on being the theme police so if you can justify the book (however loosely) it's good!
We're pushing it to get a May Group read going but we are really excited to try something new. Please submit your nominations & why it fits the theme ASAP.
