Sarebear | 1 comments I've read an excerpt he has on his site, and it makes me want to read the book NOW. The last book I felt this way about was Brandon Sanderson's A Way of Kings, I can hardly wait for the next one there either . ..

Anyone else looking forward to this? Sad it's the end but he's said he's not going to stop writing, so there'll be more from Stephen White, which helps me feel like I have more to look forward to, even if it is not more Alan Gregory after Compound Fractures .. .

Edited to clarify: The last book that wasn't by Stephen White that I felt that way about; I was ever so eager to read Line of Fire as well (I'd only discovered the author 6 months before that and read all the books up til then during that time, the three preceding Line of Fire in just a couple of days before I got the arc)

Yes! I just saw today that he is scheduled to appear at Chautauqua in Boulder again this year so I'll have to buy my ticket soon!

If anyone is interested in attending, the event is on Tuesday, August 20th and tickets are only $10:

Did you make it? My wife and I were there and thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. I bought the book but haven't started it yet, as I still have two library books checked out that I need to knock off. But here are some photos:

One regret: I again failed to take any photos of the beautiful grounds at Chautauqua. Just too anxious to get inside for the book talk...

I was there. I read chapter one while waiting for my books to be signed. I bought Compound Fractures at Chautauqua as well as two paperbacks that I was missing for my collection :-) Will look at your photos right now.

Compound Fractures will be featured on the group page as a current group read for two months (through October). Hopefully this gives everyone time to read and discuss. Please use spoiler alerts as necessary. Thanks.

Janice Here is link to an interview with Stephen White, from Bookerporter.com:

It probably isn't that much different than other interviews we have been given access to read, but does include some thoughts on his next writing ventures.

Nice interview :-) I just read over it. I think we will be seeing other books by Stephen White in the future, but he's made it very clear that he's done with Alan Gregory. It could be possible to to see Dee and/or Poe from The Siege return. I do hope his two television series pitches go well - when talking this endeavor at Chautauqua, he didn't sound too hopeful.

Janice I hope so too, Dustin. With his skill I would think they would be remarkable. I would certainly make it a priority to watch!

Roger | 6 comments Finished it a couple of days ago. Near the end I found myself really slowing down - chapter by chapter, page by page - because I dreaded reaching The End. It's still all sinking in, and has been a great source of discussion between my wife (who read it first) and me...as well as another friend for whom I bought a copy at Chautauqua. Quite a ride, expertly woven together as usual. (And I only found one typo! :-) )

I've got my audiobook from the library and my signed printed copy so I have no excuses :-) Time to get down to business!

Listened to the audiobook all day Saturday while painting my condo. Almost finished now - about 20 pages to go. I like how Stephen White has brought back some old characters and is bringing everything full-circle.

Damn Youtube.

In the book, one of the characters is mentioned being at the Gunbarrel Branch of the library. I wish there was a Gunbarrel Branch - it would be convenient since I work in Gunbarrel :-)
