OK, what books have you read that you wouldn't want to admit to reading? I'll go first to be fair - the Janet Evanovich series of Stephanie Plumb novels. They are so much fun for me that I am compelled to read all of her books. I will wait for your replies with nervous breath. Will I be kicked out of the Bookworms?

Lori, don't apologize for what you like. Your taste in books makes you who you are. So what if you like something that no one else does. It's completely okay. We cannot all like the same things - that would be dead boring. I did not like the Outlander series yet many people did. I loved Pillars of the Earth and others did not. So, Lori, don't apologize for liking what you like and don't feel that you have to either. And my guilty pleasure . . . the Series of Unfortunate Events books and the Deep Woods series.
The Gossip Girl series. I'm on a young adult kick right now, and these are a lot of fun. I tend to stick with historial fiction and non-fiction though, so it's tough adding these to my read shelf!
My guilty pleasure is comic books. Yes, as in Superman, Batman, Nightwing, etc. The weird thing is, I didn't care at all about them as a kid; I didn't start enjoying them until I was 22.I'm not an avid fan, I probably own about a dozen carefully chosen comic books, as opposed to buying them monthly, but still...I don't know many 24 year old girls who enjoy them!
After reading non-fiction Tudor books I don't mind following it up with a general romance just to get a fresh start again..

MAP, not a guilty pleasure of mine but a story I must tell you. Back in the 60's (yep I'm old) my brothers and I had inherited a big collection of comics from our much old cousins - Batman, Superman, Super Girl and even the "Classic Comics". Mom didn't want to drag them to Hawaii and pay the shipping costs so they were given away for peanuts. Along with my Barbie clothes hand made by Grandma. She had no idea what she was giving away nor its future value.
I love to dive into a good historical romance on occasion but I'm having a hard time finding one that's well written enough to keep me going.

Charlaine Harris' Sookey Stackhouse novels are mine (her Southern Vampire Series). I didn't care for the HBO take on it (TrueBlood) but the novels are funny and a delight! Go figure....I don't normally go for paranormal books. Guess if a book can make me laugh then genre is secondary. ;)
I like a good spy/thriller/adventure novel every now and then with lots of heart thumping action. I'm not sure why I think of them as guilty pleasures. I guess these are the types of books you can read without thinking too much.
My guilty pleasures are definitely the series I grew up with as a child. The Little House books, etc.; I spent a week or so earlier this year being mentally seven or so with a "lost" book from one of these series. Sometimes when you need a "palate-cleanser" after a particularly bad read there's nothing better.

I'm with you on that. I started collecting first editions of all the Black Stallion books for my son a couple of years ago....I fully admit that when I acquire another one, I read it for the childhood memories, then set it on his shelf. ;)
