Frequently Asked Questions

I’m interested in attending GRNW. Can I come?

Yes! The GRNW Meet-Up is open to the public. Everyone is welcome to come!

How big is GRNW?

The Microsoft Auditorium on the first floor of the Seattle Central Library has seats for 275 people (and we hope to fill all the seats!)

Microsoft Auditorium

Can I register now?

Pre-registration is now open!

The early bird rate of $15 will be going through August 15. After August 15, the admission fee will go up to $25.

What kind of programming will be at the Meet-Up

You can view our programming here: http://gayromancenorthwest.wordpress....

The programming will include three panel discussions along with audience Q&As with each panel.

Select books by GRNW authors will also be available for sale at the Meet-Up by the University Book Store.

What can I do at the "Happy Hour"?

Lots! There will be lots of fun things to do at the post-conference Happy Hour at the Hotel Monaco (across the street from the Library.)

The Happy Hour will run from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and is part of your ticket admission to the Meet-Up. Things to do include:

1- There will be free snacks and a cash bar for tasty cocktails and other drinks. (It is a cash bar so please bring cash.)

2- Authors will be available to sign books and meet readers.

3- There will be a special author reading event. "5 Minutes in Heaven." This reading event will run from 6:30pm-7:30pm and will be a series of 5 minute readings by different GRNW authors.

4- There will be giveaways and free books awarded throughout the Happy Hour.

5- There will be free swag for the taking!

6- The University Book Store will be onsite selling books at the Happy Hour, so in case you didn't get the chance to buy a book at the Meet-Up, you'll have lots of time at the Happy Hour to peruse their selection.

7- GRNW's LGBT Library Book Drive! We will still be holding our special book drive for the Gay City LGBT Library during the Happy Hour, so if you didn't get a chance to donate a book during the Meet-Up, there's still lots of time to gift a LGBT book to the drive.

8- GRNW Community Partners will also be featured so it will be a great time to meet and find out more information about local LGBT, writing, and arts resources.

It should be a wonderful evening, and great way to relax and chat with writers and readers after the conference. Hope to see you there!

I am an M/M writer and I would like to attend as a writer. Is that possible?

Yes! During registration, there is a space where you can designate either “Writer” or “Reader”. Just check off which one you prefer, and we can list that on your event badge.

If you are a writer planning on attending, I recommend also that you contact us. (Either send me a note directly through GR or at the email timmonsgray@yahoo.com. We like to add authors planning on attending to our “Attending Authors” list so readers and fans will know ahead of time who to look out for.

I am interested in helping sponsor this event. How can I do that?

Thank you for your interest! We’d love to talk with anyone who is interested in helping sponsor or contribute to this event. Old Growth Northwest is a nonprofit, and we will be reaching out to multiple organizations to help fund this event. If you or your organization is interested in helping support the Gay Romance Northwest Meet-Up, please contact us at timmonsgray@yahoo.com.

I’m coming from out of town. Are there places to stay near the Meet-Up?

Yes! Please watch our Seattle! thread for information about local hotels and attractions. There are many hotels in downtown Seattle as well as in the neighborhoods around downtown.

I'm planning on driving to the Meet-Up. Will parking be difficult to find nearby?

The Seattle Central Library also has parking, and their all-day Saturday rate is $6.

I've never been to the Central Library. Will it be hard to find?

It's kind of a crazy building, so should be easy to spot, and takes up the whole block at 4th and Spring street in downtown Seattle.

Seattle Central Library

How do I get to the Happy Hour after the conference

The Meet-Up's post-conference Happy Hour is being held across the street from the Library at the Hotel Monaco in their Paris Ballroom. (One floor down from the lobby.) The hotel is directly diagonal from the Library and is at 1101 4th Ave.

I have more questions that are not listed here. Where can I ask them?

Any questions can be asked on this thread, and we’ll be happy to answer. Or you can send me a direct message via GR or you can send me an email at timmonsgray@yahoo.com. We want to answer your questions! :D

Hope to see you in September in sunny Seattle!

Lou,

I'm a foster parent and can't have anyone I don't know personally (really, without a background check) staying with me or I'd invite someone to stay with me for free. My dogs are obnoxious, though, so it's probably for the best. :)

Oh sweet. You have some time to relax and enjoy the sites. (Your hotel is not far from Pike Place Market, etc, and the waterfront.)

I wonder if we can organize a dinner by the University Book Store prior to the reading, maybe something simple. Thoughts? Would people be interested in that?
