Yes! I'm a fan of the radish spirit. And Haku. I always had a crush on him when I was small. >.<

That'd be fun. ^^
Yeah, the one that turns into the dragon. Sorry, seen this movie countless times. I know every nook and cranny of every Miyazaki movie. He's practically my god. ^^

Me too! I LOVED this movie! But I was only five when I saw it! OH MY ROWLING I WAS SO SCARED!
LOL, No face scared me the most. Freaky spirit guy but now he's just a cute misunderstood spirit. c:

Haha I remember watching this movie with my sisters after we had just bought it at Costco. Once we watched it we made a group decision to never watch it right before bed because it was scary(I was 5). Sadly we own the VHS version and no longer own a VHS player which is the case with many of our movies, Miyazaki and not.
I watched this when I was like 5 or 6 and I loved it! I was adored watching his films. Yes they could be creepy (they still are to me) but, ahh, so much creativity! Haku was my first fictional character crush. :D
I remember when I first watched this... I was absolutely terrified!!! I was 5! It's pretty scary though... Your parents turning into pigs...
I always wonder what would have happened if Chihiro had looked back. The chemistry between Chihiro and Haku was good and the storyline, a little weird, but amazing.
Such a beautiful movie! I made this No-face costume for Halloween last year. http://lynx38.deviantart.com/art/Kaon...

I've always though that Miyazaki films are a great way of introducing an environmental ethic to kids. Even in Spirited Away where the focus isn't so much on degradation (think Princess Mononoke or Nausicaa) there is a part that includes the pollution and destruction of rivers. They have so much more thought put into them than most Disney films.
I found this thing online that said that the scene with the river spirit was based on Miyazaki's personal experience of working with a group of people on a polluted river. One of the things they found? A bike XD
I read that Spirited Away represents the sex industry in Japan and there are a ton of parts of the movie that support this, has any one else read about that?
Nope, but there's all sorts of conspiracy theories about Studio Ghibli films. Totro is apparently based on a series of murders if you believe the conspiracy theorists XD

It sounds like an interesting theory, but I cannot see the correlation between the two.

I can see that, in some ways. Girl taken away from her parents to live in a service industry system where people are indulged and she is taken advantage of. Interesting idea.
I'd say that I'm glad I live in America, but it's pretty dangerous in the big cities here too.
Eve wrote: "This is the most popular and the only one I haven't seen!"You should watch it right now! Magical is probably the word to describe movies like these, movies about fantasy and childhood.
