Describe a difficult choice your character had to make.

For a “4”: Did I….
• Write a topic sentence that provided the title, author, and genre of my text?
• Provide context of what is happening in the text, so my reader understands what I’m talking about?
• Find a direct quote from the text that proves my idea?
• Thoroughly explain the significance of my quote/how it proves my idea?
• Check for correct punctuation and spelling?

Wesley | 50 comments A difficult decision Mr. Jones had to make was either to stay in the field or leave. In World War Z a fictional novel by Max Brooks, the narrator goes around the world talking to people about their experiences with the Zombie war. One of the accounts was a soldier. Mr. Jones died protecting his friends. Mr. Jones had the decision to let him and his friends be killed or die to protect them. He chose to sacrifice himself to save his friends. For example this is a difficult decision because he those life or death. This shows how difficult the decision was. He had to choose between everyone dying because of him or die trying to save your friends. He probably didn’t want to sacrifice himself but if he didn’t they would’ve died and maybe the family would eventually have trouble killing him as a zombie. Another example is when he had a decision that would affect the world. The world is being attacked in this war. His decision might impact the world in many small ways. This shows he had a lot of pressure. His act to sacrifice himself with all the grenades he had armed decreased the zombie population which might've changed the war; every action is going to affect the outcome of this war. Therefore his decision was a difficult one.

Aaron | 22 comments A difficult decision the main character in the book had to do was, to ask if this girl in the gang was a snitch. In Gangsta twist, the main character is doing illegal things with peoples credit cards. But the main character feels that one of the people in his gang are snitching to the cops. So he's really torn on the decision of asking her. But finally he asked her and she got mad at him and ran away. So his decision was a bad idea.

Andy Chen | 44 comments In Christopher Paul Curtis's realistic fiction novel, The Watsons go to Birmingham - 1963, the most difficult decision for Byron Watson was to decided whether to stay in Flint, Michigan, or move to Birmingham to live with his Grandma Sands. So, Byron decided to move to Birmingham. One reason Byron decided to move to Birmingham is not only to live with his Grandma, but to have better education and better jobs and wages for his parents. Another reason is because Byron was expected to be highly recommended for a job when he grows up due to improving and growing business schools. However, Byron also did not enjoy moving to Birmingham because of many reports of deaths due to explosions from bombs and severe weather. Also, Byron had very good friends in his former school, which he missed and didn't want to leave them behind. Therefore, this proves why Byron chose this decision.

Karen (allergic2haters) | 37 comments In Jodi Picoult's realistic fiction book My Sister's Keeper, Anna had to make a hard decision whether she gives her kidney to Kate or not. For example, Anna told her mother that she didn't want to give her kidney to Kate because what happens if she needs it. This shows that Anna doesn't want to give her sister Kate the kidney because what if she would need the kidney also. Another example, Anna told the judge in the courtroom that Kate want to die and doesn't want to live anymore. This shows that Anna doesn't want to give up her kidney because Kate doesn't want to live this difficult she has gone through.

In the book Andy and his friend Robert were drinking while driving, they then crashed the car one night and Robert was dead. Andy kept blaming himself because he was the one driving, so he had to run away from home and leave everyone behind. It was either run away and hide forever or admit his crimes and go to jail.

Sydney Mok (SydneyMok) | 43 comments In the book The Whole Story of Half a Girl by Veera Hiramandani, the protagonist, Sonia, had a tough decision to make. The decision was to make with her life in middle school. Sonia had to switch from a private school to a publis school because her dad lost his job. Sonia never been to a public school her whole life and was experiencing something new. Sonia made a few friends snd had to make a hard decision on this. For example, One of the girls were popular and the other girl was lonely. Sonia liked hanging out Kate, the popular girl because she always had fun and felt popular so people would notice her but sometimes Sonia didn't understand things the way Kate did. Sonia's religion and family were very different compared to Kate's. Another example is the other friend Sonia made was Alisha, the less popular girl. Sonia felt they had a lot in common. Sonia had to make the tough decision on makingg friends with the Kate or Alisha.

On the Court with...LeBron James

In Matt Christopher's non fiction novel, On The Court with Lebron James, a tough decision Lebron James had to make was on July 8, 2012. On July 8, 2010, Lebron James had to make the decision whether to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers, or join another team."James hesitated when and stumbled over the beginning of his reply before finally answering." This quote shows that this was a hard decision for Lebron James because he hesitated when he tried to to decide what team he was going to join. Therefore this was a hard decision for King James to make.

Kenjo | 41 comments In Phil Jackson's autobiography, The Last Season, a difficult decision my character had to make was whether to sit Kobe Bryant out or keep him in. Phil Jackson, regarded as possibly one of the best coaches in NBA history, has won 11 titles in total and is best known for his time with the Lakers with superstars Shaquille o'Neal and Kobe Bryant. Although simply sitting someone out seems like a simple decision, with Kobe's case it was a big deal. It was a tough decision in many ways. One reason was because he was a active, energetic player who always worked hard and determined to win. This shows that he was a key and vital part of the Lakers' offensive side in other words, they needed him to be on the court as much as possible. Another reason why this was a tough decision was because many veteran players on the Lakers including Shaquille o'Neal disliked Kobe's often cocky and selfish attitude. Kobe was still very young and immature as he had gone to the NBA from high school. Phil did not want Kobe to feel as if he was a problem, but at the same time he didn't want the team to fall apart. This shows that Phil took the perspective of both sides of the decision and tried to work something out.
