I nearly managed last month's challenge and got half way through my last book before the end of April! Getting better with finding reading time, especially after finishing my big assignment for uni last week. I'm going to try for 8 again this month!

You can count me in, too! :-) I'm going for the Very Hard level, 12 books. But can I read more books? I'm thinking about WINTER MEMORIES for my base. :-)I'll use the widget and keep track of my progress here, too, if that's okay. I also hope it will be okay to read books that aren't paranormal or urban fantasy in nature.

I've changed my word. It's my birthday in May and when I think about May, about spring, I think about MY BIRTHDAY! My Birthday Day, My Birthday Week, My Birthday Month!
That's neat that it's at the end of the month. Perhaps you'll have your challenge completed as a present for yourself. :-) Good luck, happy reading, and happy (early) birthday!!

May 1st - 31st, 2013 5/5 Books Completed! I'm Done!
Quick question if you found a title for a book you want to use does it matter if an insignificant word like "the" is in the title?Ex. I want to use the book title The Perfect Play, for the letter 'P' in my word does the fact that the word "the" is the first word in the title?
I hope this question doesn't confuse anyone, thanks in advance!
Hi Gabrielle, I am under the impression that we can choose a title like the imaginary Pretty Perfect by Patty Pepper and have any of the four P words stand as the P in SPRING. Did that make sense?Or you could take the P from any of the following imaginary titles:
Pretty Much by Jen Susan
Many Pretties by Susie Jane
Mostly Asleep by Petunia Jen
Sweet Dreams by Jane Patty
I hope this helps and that I haven't confused you further! :-)

I think so, I mean the title does have a 'P' in it it's just not the first part of the book. I think I get what you mean though.

Congrats, Angie! That was a fun way to complete your challenge...I might have to play around with that, since I'm reading books that don't fit and want everything I'm reading to count. lol!!
Jen wrote: "Congrats, Angie! That was a fun way to complete your challenge...I might have to play around with that, since I'm reading books that don't fit and want everything I'm reading to count. lol!!"EXACTLY! :) I didn't want to waste even one book! :)
Nearly there, not sure I'm going to finish before the month's up though.I wish this group did something with extension gift cards like the Nothing But Reading Challenges did, that'd be cool!
So I changed my phrase for the third (and final!!) time. :-) lol!Now it's PINING FOR WINTER SNOW to better suit the books I read in May. To view the a clickable list of the books I've identified to make up this word, please visit my 2013-05-PAN-Reading-Spring Shelf. :-)

Woohoo! I finished and just in time!! :-)I read 19 books that spelled out the phrase PINING FOR WINTER SNOW. :-) Winter is my most favorite season, and whenever it's not winter, I pine for the cold, so I thought this a most appropriate phrase for me. :-) (Not to mention this was the only winter-related phrase I could come up with to suit the books I read this month!)
Thanks, Vannessa, for your comment! And thanks, Shera, for coming up with such a great, challenging and fun challenge!!
And congratulations to everyone else who finished their challenge, too! :-)
It's been cold enough here that winter has not officially gone a way! You crazy girl!!Congrats Jen, glad you enjoyed the challenge!
Thanks, Shera. :-)And I'm in Tucson, Arizona, but from Seattle, Washington. I feel like I'm melting. We had one morning here in January or February where there was snow on the ground. It was fabulous. I went outside in it in my bare feet. Apart from that one day, it's too hot here for me, even in what AZ calls "winter" (I've been here since the end of September).

My mind is still all about the spring time! So as a challenge pick a spring time related word and read it.
How do you do that?
1. Pick a word. Let's say rain
2. Pick books that's title or author matches the letter.
R - Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire
A - Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur
I - Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione
N - Nightlife by Rob Thurman
3.Enter the challenge using the widget link below!
4.You can keep track of your challenge here or on your widget. Either way is fine and if you want to change your challenge level at anytime feel free to.
You can also pick big word(s) such as "Spring Time" and read only as may as you want. So say you choose easy (4 books) and decided to go with the word "flower" pick for letters that you want to read.
Or if you're having a hard time coming up with 8 or 12 letter words pick a bunch of four letter ones. Be creative!
Link to the challenge widget!
There is no genre limitations, read whatever you want!
Levels:
Easy - 4 (Rain, soil, iris . . . )
Medium - 6 (Flower, spring, violia . . .)
Hard - 8 (Red Roses, tomatoes, planting . . . )
V Hard - 12 (Pink Flowers, gardening, thunder storm . . . )
