Poem #1
The Song
An Arthurian tale in
a new way
Elaine of Ascolat,
Lady of Shalott
lives in Arthur's army camp
All of the men are
her friends'
but Lancelot,
brave Lancelot,
has become more
than that
to her.
Then Gwynivere comes,
proud, beautiful Gwynivere,
and steals
Lancelot's heart
as he steals hers.
Elaine does not like
Gwynivere, and the
feeling
is mutual
But, when danger comes,
Elaine must work
with Gwynivere,
and follow the
sparrow's song
to save those she loves
and
maybe
find love in return
Poem #2
Lady of Shalott
Elaine,
motherless,
but not alone
Her father,
her brothers,
and all of the men in the camp
are her
family
A tomboy,
a healer,
free and joyful
Even as she
pines for Lancelot
so someone pines for her
It takes
another girl,
an attack,
a capture,
a rescue
almost a death,
to find the love she was looking for
to let the sparrow sing
Poem #3
A New Song
Many people know the tale
of Elaine,
but this book provides
a new spirit,
a new background,
and a new happy ending,
for the Lady of Shalott
