That's what I'd say, but I guess you could argue Friar Laurence or their parents or something.

T.J. Their literature teacher. If they'd stop talking in detail about every little thing perhaps they would have survived and talked everything through.

Or the guy who was delivering the note to Romeo. Did he not SEE Romeo ride by him?!

Friar John? Gosh, I know, right?????

message 5: by T.J. (new)

T.J. Was he like, not seeing the frantic dude racing by him? Did he not think to shout, "Hey buddy, your wife isn't dead. She's lying in a tomb with a bunch of dead people, but SHE is not dead!"

Fun fact: Romeo and Juliet was actually considered a comedy...the material isn't heavy enough to be a tragedy.

Haha, no, a tragedy would be a Tale of Two Cities. That IS a tragedy. Cleopatra and Anthony? Tragedy. Romeo and Juliet? A three day love fest that teaches children about other children seeking each other out of sudden pure desire and lust, marrying after a couple of days, and then committing mutual suicide. I mean, c'mon, mom and dad, that's love right? *eye roll*

Awesome... "Hey, um, so I met this dude I really liked. We danced and such so Imma go marry him!" ...What was Shakespeare thinking?

Tasmia Quadir (tazey) | 15 comments Well I thought that bad timing killed them. I mean just a minute after Romeo poisoned himself Juliet wakes up.

Their parents. Their parents rejection of their love caused their death. I thought it was society, but society accepted them. The only people who didn't were their parents. And their parents' rule was so strong that a misunderstanding was caused, thanks to their parents' rejection, and pushed then over the edge.

It is pretty funny how much of a wimp Romeo is... I love Shakespeare to death, but Romeo and Juliet never really did it for me.

✿.Ⓐⓟⓞⓞⓡⓥⓐ.✿ (apoorvak) | 87 comments Yup. It's lust between them, not love. I mean, Romeo just suddenly gets over Rosaline the minute he sees Juliet.

message 18: by T.J. (new)

T.J. Hey this is crazy, but let's get married and in three days commit mutual suicide.

...Tragedy? And people wonder what influences kids to go off and have relationships at a young age. So confused.

✿.Ⓐⓟⓞⓞⓡⓥⓐ.✿ (apoorvak) | 87 comments Well I understand the young age. You need to understand that at that time, life spans were much shorter. Juliet's own mother is often described to only be about fourteen years older than her.

SHAKESPEAR!!!

honestly i see this sotry to be anything but romantic, i mean Juliet was freakin 13yrs old and she "fell in luv with" Romeo who was like 17yrs old. And it lasted for a really short time and resulted in both of them dieing in the end. Making it so pointless and immature. (i meant the character are immature)
