Not your usual mystery. Loved the unusual first person narrator, thought the plot was pretty good, and really liked the ending. Listened to the audio version read by MacLeod Andrews who really embodied the main character even though he did not sound like he had ever even visited Germany.

In the Electric Mist With Confederate Dead
James Lee Burke
This series just keeps getting better with each book. Dave is a fascinating character, the plot of this book was one of the best in the series, and I always enjoy the descriptions of the lush scenery. Listened to the audio version read by one of my favorites the late Mark Hammer.

The Last Resort: A Memoir of Zimbabwe
Douglas Rogers
The author, a travel writer by trade, relates his parent's story of trying to survive the chaos of Zimbabwe. Well written, at times funny, with enough background on the history of the region to make the book well worth reading.

Electric Mist is one of my favorite books by Burke!

I need to add this series to FictFact.com. I somehow never listed that one as read in the book journal, so must have missed it.

Electric mist was certainly one of the spookier books. It was hard to tell where reality left off.

And oh good, Electric Mist is on audible.com. Looks like I may get to it after all. I hope I didn't read it before I was keeping up with books starting in 1998. I better check out a print copy first. But I don't think I did.

I wasn't wild about Electric Mist ... too woo-woo for me. But I'm caught up with the series and looking forward to the next Dave Robicheaux.
