Eric Greenfield goriest and/or scariest or just goriest? Ever hear of Strangeland by Twisted Sister Dee Snyder? Blood doesn't bother me in films but sewing lips and eyelids really bothered me.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't seen Strangeland, Eric. Sounds gruesome.

message 4: by Eric (new)

Eric Greenfield Hostel bothered me. I don't like torture movies though don't mind them so much in print.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Same here. Torture movies are not for me. Ever see Alice Cooper in Prince Of Darkness? Man, he was scary.

message 6: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanielux) The goriest movie i ever tried watching, but had to turn off because i couldn't handle it was Aftermath.
Saw 3 and final destination 5 bothered me too. I don't like gore in movies. It doesn't entertain me. Also my favourite scary books are the ones that freak me out without having to gross me out.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm the same. I like horror movies that use atmosphere to scare me, not gore. Like Halloween...not a drop of gore in that film.

message 8: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanielux) I liked the amityville horror remake a lot. That could be my favourite.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

The remake was okay. I liked the original better.

Hell Night is also a great one, starring Linda Blair.

Clownhouse is scary without any gore.

Hostel bothered me and my wife. We ended up turning it off.

I'm usually not a big baby, but that movie just did not sit right with me.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm thinking of a movie where a guy mows down a bunch of people with a lawn mower. Oh, it's DEAD ALIVE...the goriest movie I've ever seen.

message 13: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanielux) I haven't actually read the book. I should add it to my list!

message 14: by Eric (new)

Eric Greenfield my favorite part of Amityvilke was when Brolin woke from a nightmare and screamed, "I'm coming apart!" That freaked me our. Also enjoyed George C Scott's The Changeling when that ball kep rolling down the stairs!

Eric wrote: "my favorite part of Amityvilke was when Brolin woke from a nightmare and screamed, "I'm coming apart!" That freaked me our. Also enjoyed George C Scott's The Changeling when that ball kep rolling d..."

Yeah, both of those were intense scenes, Eric.

JDB | 64 comments I have only read Amityville, I have never seen the movie. I'll have to check this one out.

The Howling is pretty scary.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

What was sick was when she master**ted with a crucifix.

message 21: by Holly (new)

Holly (goldikova) The goriest horror films I have ever seen and the scariest horror films I have ever seen are two entirely different lists, with no crossover.

message 22: by Lena (new)

Lena I think Possession (1981) if only just for that jaw dropping sex scene.

message 23: by Kandice (new)

Kandice The goriest movie I have ever seen is The Human Centipede, but like Holly said, the scariest movies do NOT cross over the goriest.

I would agree. In most case, gory doesn't equal scary. Some exceptions, off the top of my head, would be -

The Thing
Re-Animator
The Fly (1986)
Fright Night

I remember seeing that as a kid. The scene that sticks with me is a group eating a monkey brain after brutally killing it. Seemed like a borderline snuff film.

Marie The Hills Have Eyes
Saw (all of them)
Wrong Turn (the first one)
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (the original)
The Midnight Meat Train

message 29: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) The Green Inferno. I watched it Halloween night...it's seriously gory and disturbing. One of the goriest movies I've seen in a long time.

Just saw Tarantino's The Hateful Eight last night. Nicotero and the boys really outdid themselves in this one!

Saw is great one. I always find lovely to watch this piece

message 32: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) I'm telling you, The Green Inferno is so disturbing. The gore is at a 12 out of 10 and you really don't know what will happen and when it does it's just chilling.

message 33: by Kat (new)

Kat (celestialviolence) | 5 comments I'm really surprised a serbian film wasn't listed here

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello everyone, the goriest movies I've seen were probably the Saw movies. Love those movies!!!

message 35: by Nat (new)

Nat Kennedy | 6 comments This is great, as someone who doesn't enjoy gore, this is a list of Do Not Watches for me. :) I went through my gore phase when I was younger, but now I just don't like it.

message 36: by JL (new)

JL Shioshita (uberproductions) | 40 comments Cannibal Holocaust. I haven't seen Green Inferno yet but my buddy told me it's pretty over the top.

message 37: by Aoife (new)

Aoife Bambrick (dillidolli) | 16 comments Goriest and most disturbing movie has to be A Serbian Film, not for the faint hearted. I recently loved Green Room, has anybody seen it?

message 38: by David (new)

David Brian (davidbrian) Probably not the goriest, but without any shadow of a doubt the most disturbing movie I ever watched was the original French-Canadian version of Martyrs. Truly disturbing. Honestly, I felt numb after watching it.
It's a powerfully executed movie, but with dreadful content and in the way it makes you feel.

Anna (doppiocuore) | 35 comments David wrote: "Probably not the goriest, but without any shadow of a doubt the most disturbing movie I ever watched was the original French-Canadian version of Martyrs. Truly disturbing. Honestly, I felt numb aft..."

I love that movie! I watched the American re-make too. I thought I wouldn't like it, because, you know, remakes, but it was good too!

I see people have mentioned A Serbian Film. I have thought of watching it but, naw, there are some things that shouldn't be put on film (to me). (Salò) 120 Days of Sodom is another one I will never watch. Nor will I watch Cannibal Holocaust because of the animals.

message 40: by Isebella (new)

Isebella | 7 comments Plenty of gore in Hostel, You're Next, and in most modern day zombie films. The goriest film I've ever watched so far is Evil Dead, the 2013 remake.

message 41: by JL (new)

JL Shioshita (uberproductions) | 40 comments Cannibal Holocaust and Cannibal Ferox are two movies I've seen and probably will only watch once because of the animal stuff. I went into it not knowing what to expect. That being said, the rest of it is pretty gory too and would make any list, but that exploitative animal stuff is hard to get past for any enjoyment purposes.
