Mia sat on the floor in the corner with a pink crayon closed in her fist and a coloring book. She colored in some flowers and smiled up at the grown-ups as they passed by. This was all Mia had ever known. She had been too young when her father gave her up to remember anything of her past.

Mia saw two people walking in. She giggled and stood up, running over to them. "Hi!" She yelled, looking up at them with a wide smile.One of the workers hurried behind Mia, picking her up quickly. "Mia, give them some space sweetie," she chastised. Mia squirmed in her arms, trying to get down.

Derek watched his wife talk to the little girl. He had to smile because this little girl reminded him so much of his two daughters.
"Mia!" She yelled, proud to show off that she could say her name. Mia pushed against the woman's chest, whining. She let Mia down, sighing. Once she got let onto the floor, she made her way towards the couple, hopping over the cracks in the tile.

Derek chuckled although he did agree with his wife.
Mia grinned, playing with Claire's hair. She thought it looked like the woman's from all the pictures. They had always shown Mia pictures of her mother, before she had died. Of course, Mia didn't understand that she was the woman's daughter, but enjoyed the pictures anyway. Apparently it had been one of her father's requests. She giggled for no reason, swinging her legs.

Derek nodded "Alright Hun" He smiled down at Mia. "Hailie will love her" He added.
Claire nodded and looked at Mia "Your going to have a big brother and 2 big sisters" She told the child.
"Yay!" Mia screamed, clapping her hands. She didn't really understand that she would be part of their family, but liked them anyway and understood she would spend time with them. Mia had been considered by a couple families before, but was sent back every time due to her extremely high energy. She reached for Derek, wanting to meet him as well.

Claire watched her husband interact with Mia for a moment before she went over to the front desk. "We would like to adopt her" Claire told the worker.
Mia nodded. "Yeah!" She yelled enthusiastically. Mia didn't really understand the concept of family, but she loved meeting new people anyway, so how bad could it be?The worker smiled, getting out Mia's papers. "Alright, I just need you to sign these for me, and I'll give you her records. You'll need to review her medical history even though there's nothing outstanding, make sure you know about her general history in case she starts asking questions, and you're good to go. Oh, and we will notify you if her father calls us up and wants to meet her. We are legally obligated to offer Mia a choice on whether or not she wants to meet him."

Derek chuckled "Then you get to come with us" He told her.
Mi giggled childishly. "Kay," she agreed, leaning her cheek on Derek's shoulder and swinging her small legs."Once you're done with those forms, you're all set," the worker said, smiling.

Derek carried Mia to their car. He set her in Hailie's car seat for the time being until they could get on for her. "We should take her to meet the other kids I think Erik took Hails to the hospital to visit Kar" Derek suggested to Claire who nodded in agreement.
Mia watched them curiously as they spoke. "Hungwy," She announced. Mia waited expectantly for the grown-ups to give her food. She sat back in the carseat, fiddling with the seatbelt.

Derek nodded and pulled into the Mcdonald's drive through. He ordered 3 happy meals and 3 big mac combos. After paying Claire handed Mia her food. "There you go sweet heart" She smiled.
Mia grinned. "Thank you," she said, remembering her manners. Mia pulled out the bag of apples and started taking small bites of the fruit. "Wanna pway," Mia said. She looked around the car as if there might have been another little kid hiding around there.
