So what are everyone's theories about John Hurt?

I think he is the 9th doctor between McGann and Eccleston (we never saw that regeneration) I think he destroyed all the timelords in these time wars we keep hearing about. If this is true then Matt would be the 12th and final doctor which I think is perfect.

It would mess the numbers up though. And Matt said John Hurt was never 'the Doctor'.

River also gave him her remaining regenerations so he has at least nine more left.

Does anyone think there is significance about the crack in the TARDIS?

I think he's an aged Eight. We have no idea how long the Time War went on and I think it might have went on for a while. He'd broke the promise of the name "the Doctor". A doctor is of healing and The Doctor timelocked the war and destroyed many Daleks and Time Lords so he broke the promise that way.

About the crack: One of the windows of the TARDIS's door was cracked when he landed on Trenzalore. The Doctor made a passing comment about it. Then, it looked as if the giant TARDIS tomb they went in had one, too.

Oh yeah. I noticed that crack! The TARDIS fell so maybe that's how she got it.
