Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) Modern or a original? Which type of vampires do you like the best? Do you like original vampires, who only drink human blood? Or do you like Modern vampires, who are vegetarians, and have cool powers?

Katie (katieh_96) I prefer modern vampires. With them drinking both human and animal blood, and them trying to live in society without being noticed, its the potential for them to be walking among people without them knowing.

Well they are both pretty cool in their own way; but I prefer original vampires. They're more dangerous and have more of a sense of evil and terror

Kaine Andrews (kaineandrews) | 75 comments I find a blend somewhere in the middle suits my tastes best; Lestat and company from the Tales of the Vampires, Damon Salvatore, Eric Northman. Sadly, there don't seem to be many girl vamps in that category, now that I think about it...

Give me bloodthirsty, violent monsters who've mostly come to terms with what they are, but let them be stylish and stealthy, too. But the "new generation," where they seem more akin to superheroes, nobly struggling against their base instincts (and generally whining, at length, on how hard it is) and the creepy stalker boyfriend that somehow gets flagged as "hot and romantic" just does nothing for me.

I think Damon Salvatore is my favorite vampire... He is the perfect combination of the two. He is a modern vampire in that he is from modern times, lives like a modern person, etc. but he's got that bloodthirsty, couldn't care less, eating people for breakfast, burns in sunlight, attitude.
And by creepy stalker boyfriend flagged as hot and romantic we mean Edward cullin, right? I have to agree. I wasn't all that impressed with him

Kaine Andrews (kaineandrews) | 75 comments Well, I wasn't naming names or anything... *whistles innocently* But, yeah, pretty much. Him and the 8,000,000,000 clones that have gained such popularity. Heh.

I think some really good vampire books I've read recently are the series by Carole Gill and the one by Shane O'neill. very bloodthirsty and original vampire type stuff

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) I am a fan of twilight, not because of Edward, because of the romance. But yes, I agree I like the vampires that are Blood thirsty, vicious, and Cares nothing about the person they are drinking from.

I like Jasper in Twilight. His inability to control his bloodlust makes him very dangerous... and pretty hot too. ;)

Kaine Andrews (kaineandrews) | 75 comments I won't get into my feelings on Twilight except to say that I don't see a romance there, for a number of reasons. Anything else tends to risk me having another stroke and causes people to break out the torches and tar.

That said, I do think Jasper had potential, I like Alice for the most part, and the Volturi weren't bad. When they were busy killing people instead of sparkling, issuing idle threats, and mustering armies that all pretty much shrug and say "Oh, our bad. We'll just go home now," that is.

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) Yeah, that part did suck, but in the movie, at the and. It was pretty cool!

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I hated that! The end of the last one was so disappointing... Like it was all a vision? I think there is a name for that but I can't remember... It's when everything you thought was real turns out to be a dream/ vision in the end

message 13: by Kaine (new)

Kaine Andrews (kaineandrews) | 75 comments I tend to go with calling it "The JR Factor." Heh.

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) I thought it gave a little spice to the movie. Since all of the movies are dull and boring.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Pretty much. Except for breaking dawn part 1... that was boring and really freaky at the same time...

Elle Rose (ellearose) | 2 comments I think a mix of modern and original is nice to have. Although its seem like the original vampires have their limitations ( can't go out in sun light, have to be invited into a residents...) modern ones are more flexible. Twilight is my all time fav but for the love story. Vampire diaries (the book) has a mixer of both. The TV series is good too, they just changed so much from the books.
The vampire series I'm writing is based more on the modern creature but I've also toyed with the more traditional style too in a short story. I think it depends on where the author wants to take the characters.

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) i am In The beginning stages of writing a book, and I don't know what type of vampire i would like to use, like you said modern vampires are more flexible, but the original vampires or more scarier. I'm not sure

message 19: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) I like my Vampires the way I like my pringles, original. Classic original vampires are the reason modern ones exist. Classic ones are feared, are dark and sinister and care not for human relationships they only seek it when looking for proteges or have their annual longings. You can't go wrong with an original vampire.

message 20: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) One of my first poems was Vampires. I went on to write 4 more and each one tells about vampires differently. Mine are classic and human fearing but then become pitiful because I talk bout them contemplating suicide because its so lonely and how its hard to find another these days. Then how people have forgotten them and their fear for them and the last poem is a revival of sorts to remind everyone that vampires shouls be feared and not embraced

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Interesting take on vampires. I don't think I have read anything like that before. Very interesting

message 22: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) I went over this and read Jackies opening comment. I cant picture a Vampire biting into a celery stick or eating a salad...I mean I get the whole vegetarian thing I'm just saying haha. I notice in shows lately theres always one vampire who cant get themselves to drink human blood..like thats not a vampire to me thats a immortal with vampire like powers. Afterall ponder that very question, if a vampire doesnt drink blood of humans or prey on them is he still avampire?

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

interesting. I believe it would depend upon the definition of vampire as to if one that doesn't drink blood would be one.

message 24: by Robert (new)

Robert Davis (rbdavis5) | 73 comments don't ask me to quote the source, because its one of those "I remember seeing someplace" things...

Nosferatu were Vampires that either starved, or over fed, becoming beastial representations of their former human selves.

Vampires are the 'base stock' that are human, but turned to creatures of the night. depending on how far down the unnatural path they went, Sun, running water and other factors would effect them (the longer they lived the more unnatural they become)

and of course, (You knew I had to have at least one Demon) the Ubo - cursed to drink the blood of life, and confined. they were not allowed to be 'touched by color'. they are Demons/Vampires in Japanese mythology [can't recall which way they fell] the color of the sun and sky kept them moving only at night, and they could only wear white. they could transform into a moth.

Okay that's enough useless monster trivia from Robert's swish Cheese mind!
