Samantha Boyer (cravencyrus) Hi, I am Sammi and I have been in this group for a while but never introduced myself. Lol. I absolutely am in LOVE with horses, especially Friesians and Tennessee Walkers. I didn't like Walkers until I got my first one, Copper and fell in love with their, quick, smooth gait that feels and looks amazing. I will show this summer for the first time on a Walker, and I am very excited! :D

My new book, Ambition, is about eventing. Love to meet other readers/horselovers! Ambition by Natalie Keller Reinert

message 23: by Kim (new)

Kim McMahill Horses were a huge part of my life growing up. I had a pony before I had a tricycle, we always had horses, we spent every weekend in the summer at rodeos, and my dad's idea of a family vacation was a pack trip in the mountains. As an adult I haven't been around horses as much, but the memories often spawn my stories and I remember favorite horses like they were members of the family. Thanks for providing a place to share - Kim McMahill

message 24: by Ann (new)

Ann (annhunter) | 14 comments I'm Ann Hunter and I write YA. I'm launching a young adult horse racing series next spring called North Oak. The first book is Born to Run. I fell in love with horses very early in life. My parents bred Arabians and I would run around barefoot with them. I learned the majority of my horsemanship in those early years by getting kicked and nipped when I stepped out of line. I loved every minute.

Virginia Slachman (goodreadscomvirginiaslachman) | 3 comments I work with a lot of thoroughbreds off the racetrack at a rescue facility in Missouri. We have about 68 ex-racehorses (and other assorted horses--abandoned, injured, etc.). I'm also an author (have a mystery series set on a thoroughbred breeding farm in Kentucky. I know folks think racehorses are really high-strung and hard-to-handle, but actually once they settle down off the track, they're darlings! So intelligent, willing, and with big personalities! If anyone's interested, I'll provide the link to our FB page--just ask!

Linda Ulleseit (lindaulleseit) Hello everyone! Thanks to Kathleen for inviting me--this sounds like my kind of group. I'm the author of the Flying Horse Books series, which so far consists of an ebook novella and three novels. They're about a pretty normal medieval Welsh town that happens to have flying horses that compete in an annual Aerial Games--like the Olympics in the sky. Wings Over Tremeirchson (A Flying Horse Novella) by Linda Ulleseit

I've loved horses all my life but never owned one. I had to live vicariously through friends' horses. :)

Sarah Tolfree | 3 comments I'm Sarah. I just recently got introduced to the horse world and haven't looked back since xD Within my high school I've been both a Team Manager and rider for my school's equestrian team. I've worked with a pony in showmanship which was quite an experience, mostly due to the fact that he was still in the learning stages of everything and I was showing him as a favor for another team member. This year I showed a hunter/jumper school horse that was up for about anything. He's actually in my picture and I believe he has just turned 22. He's the only horse my trainer will allow beginners on (which is what I am lol) and is missing his left eye due to a halter mishap that occurred before coming to my barn (this happened when he was only a couple weeks old). My trainer's trained him with his original owner from the ground up and he's won multiple B level Hunter/Jumper shows within my state with more than one rider as well. (He was never allowed to be shown in the A shows because of his missing eye). Overall, I've just started to ride as of this past April and have just begun to trot jumps. My goals include going into the Engineering field (whether that be Chemistry or Computer I'm not sure yet), making it onto whichever college I end up going to's Equestrian team, publishing books (I have so many started >.<), becoming fluent in multiple languages and eventually making it to the Olympics.

Kate Lattey (nzponywriter) | 6 comments Hi everyone, I'm Kate. I live in New Zealand and have been riding since I was 10 and have ridden and worked in the USA, Ireland and England as well as at home in NZ. Horsy jobs over the years have included livery yard groom, summer camp counselor, trek guide, riding school manager, judge and instructor. So I have amassed a fair amount of knowledge but there is always more to learn!

I have written three horsy novels so far: "Dare to Dream", its sequel "Dream On", and my first novel "Flying Changes" which will be the first of a series of four (I'm currently working on the second in that series.) They are all available on Amazon as e-books and you can find out more about them (and me) at my website:
http://nzponywriter.com/

I also read a lot of pony fiction, contemporary and classic, and when I'm not writing, reading (or working), I spend time riding my horse JJ and working towards our showing goals in hunter jumper (show hunter) classes. He's been out of work with a ligament tear since August but is back now with a clean bill of health :)

message 37: by C.G. (new)

C.G. | 18 comments Hi I'm Christine, I'm a writer and sculptor.
I was born with an affliction for horses. Bought my first horse when I was 17, she came around the country with me when I married. I now live on 50 acres in country New South Wales, with too many horses, 2 cats, a dog, and 2 rabbits. Oh and the same husband. My old mare (that first horse)is buried in our back paddock and although she has been dead some years, I still miss her. My first novel, Celtic Summer is dedicated to her. She is the central mare in the story.(available on Amazon)
Most of our horses are Arabians. We breed sparingly keeping the foals for our own use. We have done showing, jumping, endurance, Arabian racing and now training towards horse archery and skill at arms.
We break and train ourselves and currently I'm working on a traumatised rescue pony. I've just decided to document his progress on my blog
celtic-summer.blogspot.com.au/
Happy New Year everyone!

Christine Meunier (christinemeunier) Hi everyone!

I'm yet another horse fanatic who loves to read about them, write about them, work with them and teach others about them!

My background involves teaching horse breeding, working as a strapper in a racing stable, as a stud hand and night watch person and as a horse riding instructor.

I love to read any horse book I can get my hands on, feel free to recommend some to me!

I am currently working on the Free Rein series, the latest book being Learning to Fall (Free Rein, #4) by Christine Meunier

This series is suited to 8 - 12 year olds and focuses on horse care and ownership and the Christian faith. My debut novel Horse Country A World of Horses by Christine Meunier is about four women who work in the horse industry and what happens in their daily lives :)

Hi Natalie~

I just finished Ambition yesterday. I really enjoyed it-- the witty rhetoric, the secondary characters, and the obvious knowledge of horses that comes through the character of Jules.. I was wondering if there is going to be a sequel?
