Well I am the author of Melabeth the Vampire. I started this group because I wanted to. I mean why not, even if I am talking to myself. If you join my group I would love to hear about you.

A lot better than my good reads Ask E.B. Hood. I haven’t had any time to put up any material but I thought it would be fun to start my own group. Then I realized I have no time for that. I have written a lot in the last week or so, I was inspired this week and big parts of the story came to life. It’s looking good. On another note Dan Olwell from are Vampires don’t sparkle group is drawling me a full size picture of Melabeth. He sent me a ruff, it was amazing.

Carla | 36 comments LOL ya the "talking to myself" got me smiling. No one should have to talk to themselves. I'm so excited for your progress being patient is soooo hard!! I saw a comment from Dan about doing the artwork for you & thought hummm the random people you can find on a website. I mean look at me I joined Dans group JUST to read his hilarious rants about twilight & I got my 1st autographed book =)Life can be awesome when you step back and let it..

Yes, no one should have to talk to themselves, but I do anyways. I will tell you a secret, I like to. I record the madness then write down; my other personalities wanted to be in the book.

message 6: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments hahahaha ya I talk to myself a lot too but I hope no one is recording it... I'd hate to see what I look like rambling on about nothing...

message 7: by E.B. (new)

E.B. Hood (melabeth) | 37 comments Mod
Well I will tell you this much, it's sounds way more crazy when you hear yourself talking. And if you are doing characters like me, changing your voice and such; well lets put it this way. If those taps ever got out, straight jacket for me.

message 8: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments hahaha I can just see you now trying to transcribe what they are saying as fast as your fingers will fly.. hee hee that would be a youtube sensation!!!

message 9: by E.B. (new)

E.B. Hood (melabeth) | 37 comments Mod
Lets put another way, I have had learned why authors stay away from conversations in there book were there is more then two people. It creates an identy problem for the writer. Just kidding, but it kind feels that way.

message 10: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments hummm never thought about that. I just read the book & either fall in love, like or blah with it & then move on.. kinda interesting to hear your side of it...

message 11: by E.B. (new)

E.B. Hood (melabeth) | 37 comments Mod
It was interesting for me to find out that it was the hardest part. I always thought the conversations would be easy. I felt like I could do that without effort. On the other hand, describing things, like action, background, clothes and over all order of events; I thought that would be hard. Now I do not know if this is true for all writers, but I found that writing information and order of story, the flow, action scene, to be easier by far then writing characters. In fact one of the hardest decisions I made before writing this book, was doing it from a fifteen year olds point of view. And out of all my reviews and feedback, no one has said anything about it. In fact a young girl wrote how she could really relate to Melabeth. Does that mean I relate well with fifteen year old girls? I took a chance and it paid off, who knew. Still it was the hardest part by far.

message 12: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments I will admit that I was surprised how well it is written from a 15 yr old GIRL perspective & since I was a 15 yr old girl (cough cough 15+ years ago)I can see how girls could relate. I thank god had a "normal" childhood so couldn't relate on that side but being so excited to wake up and be a super vamp I would probably be just like Mel. as a 30something I would do it different but could totally be a bad girl!!!

E.B. Hood (melabeth) | 37 comments Mod
Myself, I had a wild childhood, surprise, surprise. I was born and raised in Beaumont CA were a lot of the book takes place. Did you notice that I was in the book?

message 14: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments I loved that its set in CA. I'm from socal.. grandpa lived in Riverside. Did i notice you were in the book? no. if i had to guess you were one of the boys who took Mel up the hill like a bat outta hell??

message 15: by E.B. (new)

E.B. Hood (melabeth) | 37 comments Mod
You got it; I was the one who talked too much. I have always been a chatter box. Well Beaumont is in Riverside County. I had cousin that lived in Riverside. I am 38, I wonder if we knew some of the same people. Never know.

message 16: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments LOL im so going to have to re-read the part with you in it now... we moved from there when I was in elem. went down to SD for a few years before they dragged us to hell oh I mean Vegas.

My son lives in Vegas right now. My brother used to live there... this why I know for a fact that is where the vampires are. So they can suck the life out of you (might not notice with most of the locals)

I know, my son is in home schooling. He is taking some advanced classes and working. Still if you’re twenty one there is plenty to do in Vegas, but not so much for sixteen who can’t afford a car. He comes out here to NC during the summers, so it works out.

I have two boys, one in the military 19. One in Vegas 16.9 birthday this month the 24th. And my little angel Sonja 5 1/2 going on 21.

message 24: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments My niece is 5 going on 20 also... Wonder if all little girls are like that???

message 25: by E.B. (new)

E.B. Hood (melabeth) | 37 comments Mod
I have three nieces, 14, 12, 8. And yes, they are all like that. And the more little girls in one room... well it multiplies. I have no sisters, and two girl cousins my age. I based my character off observations I have made of other peoples young adults. Maybe it helped not being too close to young teenage girls, I couldn’t tell you, but I am glad it was believable. I do say that the first part of my book is my nightmare for all women, but became more real to me with my own little girl. The fear of a father, that might not be there.

message 26: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments phew im back... took a MUCH needed mini-vacation.. saw 2 Angels games & SeaWorld.. don't care if I go back there any time soon..

I understand, I read an article hat said dolphins raped six people ever year!!!! Brings new meaning to whale watching.

message 30: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments lol 6 people... wonder how many incidents go unreported..
Sea World was ok just confusing... the signs aren't placed well & we kept getting lost. Then when i would ask someone (ok a 17 yr old) they were annoyed that they had to help me. The shows were ok & the habitats were GREAT but i just compare everything to Disneyland & well no body lives up to Disneyland =)

I will tell you this, if a dolphin ever got me I wouldn’t report it. In fact you would probably see me running around in a little boat with a harpoon gun. The whole time I would be mumbling some madness about how tuna used to be better with dolphins in it.
I love Disneyland. Growing up in California, my family went a couple of times a year. This last February was the first time I have been to Disney world. I took my family and loaded them up in the family truckster and went to Florida. Stayed for four days and five nights. It was so great, if you go on my facebook page you'll see three hundred pictures of our trip.

We went on Superbowl Sunday. We never waited more then twenty minutes to get onto ride. The longest we waited for a princess was one hour. We went to all the parks and magic kingdom twice, watched all the shows. I do believe we rode every ride a minim of two times, if not more. The first week of Feb is 60 to 70 degrees and the parks are empty.

Thanks, wasn't sure to my answer about Warlocks. I would have thought wiccans would have as much trouble with the word witch. By using the word witch I was talking about wiccans. And now I’m insulting a religious group. If I use the word sorcerer do you thing the Wizards will be upset?

message 43: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments LOL I thought your answer was very PC. no matter what SOMEONE is going to get their panties in a bunch.. since when is warlock a no no... I've read a few books where that's what the character calls himself..

Me to, thanks now I don't feel like a dumbass. Some might say, I'm well read. And I know some wiccans, and yet until I Google it... I had never heard of it. Yet there hundreds, if not thousands of reference to warlocks has male witches. I wonder if any of these witches that are offended ever read the history between the pagans and Christians. If they had, I would think the word witch, would have been just as insulting, but they use that word with pride. See I go out of my way to insult some, and they miss it, only to hit he unexpected.

message 45: by E.B. (new)

E.B. Hood (melabeth) | 37 comments Mod
And I will make more insults at the sparkle lovers in my next book. No one really picked up on how I made fun of vampires playing family.

message 46: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments you KNOW they have not read up on the history... most people who are so easily offended are ignorant to the facts. my bff is wiccan & i'm a bible thumping Baptist I call her a witch ALL the time.. she's not offended at all. She has the knowledge of her own religion to back up her beliefs & make herself comfortable in her decision to practice it.

message 47: by E.B. (new)

E.B. Hood (melabeth) | 37 comments Mod
I myself, church of God. Still, I love all, so I hang with all who love back. And maybe the truth is people who find offense, are looking for it. It is why the topic of my book is forgiveness, not revenge.

message 48: by Carla (new)

Carla | 36 comments Agreed. I'm looking forward to the forgiveness & how she finds/gives it.. she's a better woman than I am IDK if I could do that so soon (ok 10 yrs lol) after everything that happened..
