Doctor Who: The Library of Carsus discussion

Finished this recently and my review is now up. (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...) Finding, after going through several of these since joining goodreads, that I'm not really in love with most of these. They seem to miss much more than they hit.

Does it get better, or does it continue with some gems scattered in with some serious manure for the rest of the run?

Missing Adventure seem to be much better. But the NA's obsessions with sex, violence, and a manipulative b*stard called the Doctor really turns me off most of the time.

Thoughts?

I think it's more a case of gems scattered throughout rather than a line of really excellent books. I find, however, that this is true of most book series written by different authors, not just Doctor Who.

The Seventh Doctor really does act like a real SOB as the series continues, doesn't he? I liked his darker edge, to be honest, though he does dip a little too far as the series goes on.

I liked Happy Endings at the time, but I'm not sure I would now. It's been years since I last read it.

It is a very uneven series.
The good is quite entertaining the bad is painfully bad.

The Doctor being constantly up to something wears thin, as does Benny.
It is fun seeing Ace grow up and get a leaving scene though.

Which is why I never could get into the BBC PDAs with 7 & Ace - it was like stepping backward instead of going forward.

The Doctor Who Books are very uneven, as has been said already.

There are a very few really goods ones; many average ones and some really BAD ones.

Since tastes differ so much, I have seen some of the same titles both loved and hated, lol I read them when I find copies in our used bookstores--most I think are just okay.

I always grab a copy if I find a NA in a used bookstore, but I've kept very few of them.

I started with "Dreams of the Empire " by justen richards. there is a group for the 50 th anv. the whole list very good. i am now to baker time.

Like the TV series itself, the quality of each book differs. I was surprised when I read the four opening Timewyrm novels from the NAs a couple of years ago at just how much the quality varied from book to book (with the second and fourth books being the best by far).

I enjoyed all of them. True there were some rotten eggs mixed in with the fantastic gems but as someone else said that seems to be true with any series of books by multiple authors. For me I enjoyed the stories with Bernie.
