When do you think Mink River is set?

I've spent the whole book trying to locate it in time using historical clues, technological clues (people have tape recorders but no one seems to have a computer), etc. I'm guessing maybe the 1970s?

Who needs a cell phone when you have a talking crow fulfilling that function? I think it is set in the fantastical, timeless present.

I am thinking that there are no cell phones in it, but there is mention of early computers, and it's clearly at least ten or fifteen years after the Second World War -- 1962 maybe?
