Hi, I'm new

It seems that the book for this month has not been decided yet... I'm not familiar with any of the candidates, so I'll abstain and defer to the group's decision :) In the mean-time, I'll try to catch up on some of the stuff you've read, they seem interesting if the discussions are any indication.

Also, I'd like to compliment you on your English. I'm not sure how many people in Beijing are fluent English-speakers, but you write the language very well indeed.

Yeah, those are my thoughts exactly.
And thanks for your compliments :) I actually went to school in Illinois (high school all the way till master's), and worked there a couple of years too before coming back to BJ and starting my Ph.D., so English has become more or less native to me now.
Welcome Yang!!!! Glad to add another Bibliophile to our group!! What ever you have to contribute to the group will be greatly appriciated!!
By the way, nice history you've got there; I am impressed. Good luck on you Ph.D!!
Bryan is right though, even if I dream about this group becoming bigger (please invite your friends) there is a benefit to being a smaller group of friends. Aaaahhhhh! Thanks Bryan, that makes me so happy to hear that.
Anyway, I hope everyone has or will enjoy our choices so far!?

My name is Yang, and I'm an engineer working as research assistant while pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Beijing. I enjoy science fiction a lot, and fantasy to a slightly lesser extent; the kind of stuff I like include Flowers for Algernon, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Cat's Cradle, and A Canticle for Leibowitz. I look forward to reading more interesting books and having great discussions with a tightly-knit group.
