Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11209 comments 10.1 -- The Black Tortoise and Snake
Although its name in Chinese, Xuánwǔ, is often translated as Black Tortoise in English, it is usually depicted as both a tortoise and a snake, specifically with the snake coiling around the tortoise. ➜ Read a book with any type of reptile (turtle, snake, lizard, alligator, etc) pictured on the cover. Dragons and dinosaurs will work, too. Required: Include the cover in your post.

It was a cute book. Hope you enjoy it!

The next one in the series, The Curse of the Pharaohs (Amelia Peabody, #2) by Elizabeth Peters , works, too. It's on my list of possibilities....

Are you ok with this one?

I can't tell if that's a lizard or a turtle eye, but it's definitely a reptile! So, yes, it works.

A cartoon crocodile is fine, but thanks for pointing him out! I'd have never seen him. Make sure you point him out for DLMRose when you post.

Thank you! I've been hoping I could use it (otherwise I'd be spending all weekend relishing the latest treasury of my very favorite comic).

Lindsey (_lindsey_) | 498 comments Hi! I'm re-reading one of my favorite books, and I remembered there is a dragon on the cover, but she is very hard to see in any of the images here on Goodreads, since she's flying off in the distance. It looks like a large bird, but I know for sure it's a dragon, since there is a red dragon named Scarlett who is a character in the book. In person, I can tell the flying figure on the cover is red too. She's flying above the castle - http://www.goodreads.com/book/photo/7... Does this book work?

EDIT: Here's a higher resolution image of the cover - http://brin1.com/sfimage/sot.jpg

Are you reading (or rather listening to) the version you've linked to here? If so, I'm going to have to say the audio version does not work. The thing flying in the background does indeed look like a large bird rather than a dragon. Sorry!

message 31: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (_lindsey_) | 498 comments Yeah, I'm reading the mass market paperback which has a cover very similar to both these images I've linked. Oh well, back to the drawing board! Thanks!

You're sure it's not the mass market one that's on GRs?

Stone of Tears (Sword of Truth, #2) by Terry Goodkind

Because it's less cropped than the audio versions...........

Andy Plonka (plonkaac) | 4207 comments I have two books to suggest that have snakes on the cover:
The Andalucian Friend by Alexander Söderberg
which I just finished so I can't use it. The book is not great in my opinion, but the cover is awesome
and
Suzy's Case A Novel by Andy Siegel
This is a great book and the snake is also awesome. The book might also work for the ring task if someone is looking for something to read for that task.
